Cometh the Big Crying Wheel

Location: A refurbished castle on the outskirts of Exsilium.
Characters: Anyone at the party!
Summary: Vanadi hosts a party that goes very poorly.

It’s a lovely night for a party!

The venue at the outskirts of town is, unfortunately, a bit drafty — and actually rather sparsely furnished, as well. In fact, party goers are encouraged to mingle, drink, and enjoy themselves in the courtyard, as the castle itself wasn’t able to be renovated in time, and has proven to be a little bit architecturally unsound. Any explorative guests might find a small hail of dust and pebbles on their heads if they venture too far in — and who knows what else, if they continue on.

But the drinks and snacks both are plentiful and delicious, and the large canvas set up from castle wall to castle wall keeps off the sprinkling rain. The weather could even be described as warmish and pleasant, if one were feeling generous. A group of Exiles plays classic instruments in one corner of the courtyard, having been paid enough to even smile at any Transports that wander near.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a good night. Until about 10 PM, that is. Come 10 PM, the Misery rolls into town, tearing down the canvas, nullifying powers, and crying corrosive blood everywhere. That’s the cue for all hell to break loose, as the final wave of mind-controlled characters snag their victims and make for the hills — or at least for the UE. The mind-controlled characters will also have the backup of a squadron of 20 of the Masked, the UE's special ops force. The Masked's main goal is to grab those on their list and get away, but they're certainly not above shooting to kill at anyone that gets in their way. They're also highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and physically enhanced by their suits, so they're a good bunch to try to avoid.

[He keeps an eye behind them as they go.] Not yet. What if they're in town, too. I-- I don't know if you have any, ah, unusual abilities or not, but something is keeping me from using mine. Whether it's that giant eye thing or something else. If that's the case, a lot of us will be defenseless.

Yes, so have mine. But even so, I can't leave anyone behind in this mess right?

[He barrels through a set of doors, it shouldn't be long before they reach the entrance of the palace.]

I suppose... [Al would have run right the hell out of here if he could. Every man for himself. Despite that, he's sticking pretty closely to Keith.] They weren't shooting anyone. Just kidnapping. They want us alive for something.

[andagain]

Do you think they want us to fight on their side? [Keith speculated while they were approaching the entrance.]

[notadamnvampire]

...Maybe. Maybe they've figured we're more useful alive than dead. Consider the skills and powers amongst the Transports, after all.

[andagain]

Let's hope they don't kidnap any more.

[And oops there's a special ops guy nearby. Keith pushes Alucard away so they can duck into a nearby room.]

I h-- oh no. [Yep, time to hide. Al's good at that, even without his powers. He quickly and quietly slips into the room, and turns to Keith to whisper.]

I didn't get a good look. Was there a lot of them?

[andagain]

[Keith waited a little while, his breathing quiet and tense. He didn't want to draw any attention away from them.]

I don't think so.

[This palace was too big to have so many walking down a single hallway.]

Good... [After a few minutes passed, Al snuck a peek outward, crouching down to do so in case anyone was passing by. It looked clear, so he looked back up at Keith and nodded.] I think they're gone. Let's make a break for it.

[andagain]

Right, let me know if you need me to slow down. [While he couldn't fly out of there, he could run pretty well. He breaks out into a sprint down the hallway.]

[notadamnvampire]

Wh-- [Oh no you run so fast! Alucard isn't much of a runner, and he's already been hurt, but he does his best to keep up. He'll already be huffing when catches up to Keith when he stops.]

[andagain]

[Keith stops at a hallway turn, and he's not out of breath the slightest thanks to being in top physical shape.]

Did I run too fast? I tried not to run so fast for you.

[notadamnvampire]

[HUFF. HUFF. Keith gets a narrow glare, but he'll manage to keep from saying anything nasty to the person trying to help him. When you're only 5'4" your legs don't get you as far as you'd like, sometimes.]

I... I made it, didn't I?

[andagain]

Yep! Just a little more and we'll be safe and sound. Tell me when you're ready to go.

[Just a few feet down the hall was a door leading to the outside, into freedom.]

[notadamnvampire]

We better not waste time. Let's go. [He'll look around the area and start running without waiting for Keith. He knows he'll outpace him quickly.]

Hey! Be careful! [He cups one hand to his mouth as he says that to Alucard, but they're already busting out past the door now.]
