she took me back and stitched me up
Date & Time: 9th October and onwards
Location: Clinic
Characters: Donny & open
Summary: follow-on from this network post, but your character doesn't have to have replied to that in order to drop by and give him info or whatever!
(annnnnd eventually it might just turn into a catch-all for later October logs? idk.)
Warnings: Depression, potential mention of death, murder and horribly injuries. Will edit as necessary and feel free to give me a heads up if you'd like to avoid any particular topics in our thread! c:
( Or, perhaps more accurately, the location is really "the place that is being constructed into a clinic." Though he spent a few days dedicated to fiddling in the VR room, he has his retreat there fixed, and there are more important things to focus on. The majority of the time he's in the clinic.
A. Fixing thing up. Right now, hiding his magic seems stupid, rather than helpful, and he's very carefully using his ability to manipulate metal to make the most of the materials that they have, reconfiguring the space to allow for maximum bed space, reinforcing the doorway, making a space for back up generators. There is zero meddling with the external structure, though, because that would obviously just be a really bad idea.
B. Paperwork - working on an inventory, working on patient records, going over notes for appropriate treatment for non-human Transports, trying to organize the (admittedly limited) medical texts that he lugged up on the flight. Save him from this plan or alternatively come and give him more stuff to... file or whatever.
C. Treating people - WHAT DID YOU DO. WHAT DID YOU DO.
Seriously though, what did you do because he needs to know so he can patch you up.
D. - idk man you guys probably have more ideas than I do )

Although, it's easier to feel like a dog likes you when its owner isn't staring at you like that. ) I'm-- j-just like this.
( Quietly, not even putting enough into it to be defensive. It hardly matters, any more. He has to at least seem to absorb the strikes, or he'll never be as good as Atlas, as what Crystal thought he could be, and right now they need people who can function, not go to pieces the way he does so often. No; Donny swallows, a he watches the dog and his injuries. ) W-what uh, what happened?
no subject
Oh. Well, good for you. [ As inconsiderate as she was being, she did actually seem to be a little relieved to hear that. If he was always a jumble of stutters and shyness then it was easier for her to trust he wasn't just intimidated by Metalhead. ]
Your fuckin'... future food machine thing. You know, with the blades and the container? [ For the life of her she couldn't remember what the hell it was called, but she was clearly expecting her shitty description and her hands poorly miming the shape of the blender to be enough. ] Yeah, that. He ate that when it was all vrrrrrr!! or whatever.
no subject
( What? He tried to eat a blender? Oh my God. He huffs quietly, more out of worry than anything else, standing and going to get his med kit. ) Is uh, w-will he let m-me um, check his mouth? I m-mean I'm um, I n-not a vet, b-but--
( Running through the options in his head, if the dog should be sedated so he can take a thorough look, whether he'll need stitches or just bandages, and stitches seems more likely because a blender and--
His head is going too fast for his mouth to keep up and articulate it all, so he just glances at Apollo over his shoulder. ) Uh, he c-could-- get up on this b-bed?
( Ashraf might have words to say about a dog being on a patient bed, but whatever. Donny likes dogs. )
no subject
Yeah, sure. [ All she has to do is stride over to the bed to give it a pat and tada there is now a furry patient laying down on top of it as requested. Apollo leans over him to give a quick lecture before letting Donny do anything else, though. ] Alrighty pup, Dr. Jumbles here is a friendly, okay? He's goin' in your big dumb mouth but no chewing, got it? [ A moment of intense, silent staring between the two occurs before Apollo suddenly smiles, pats his head and turns around. ] Okay, go for it. But don't fuck it up. And don't try to stab me or somethin' because he'll rip more than your arm off. [ Not that she actually thought the kid was going to stab her, but you know. Fair warning. ]
no subject
( Is it an attempt at a joke, or just another agonisingly awkward moment by Donny? It's a little unclear, but since he has been stabbed a few times in his line of work, he's pretty sympathetic to stabbing victims. It sucks. )
I think, uh. It m-might be g-good if I g-give him a uh, a sedative? B-because um, d-dogs...
( Well, they aren't going to know that keeping still while getting stitched up is a good idea, but he isn't about to just do it without talking to this lady. He's really never treated a dog before. )
It'd p-probably be um, easier.
no subject
[ Even though the suggestion of a sedative is a perfectly reasonable one, Apollo doesn't seem immediately enthused by it. Instead she just stands there with her arms crossed, idly chewing on her thumb nail and slightly readjusting her little wings as she thinks, all the while staring at Metalhead as though waiting for him to give her an answer.
But Metalhead does not, of course, answer her. So Apollo turns to Donny and gives him a firm answer in the dog's place. ]
Only a tiny one. [ Whatever that means. ] None of this fuckin', out cold all day bullshit, he ain't exactly easy to move around if he ain't walkin' himself. [ Clearly she's got some issues, but she's being a little bit cooperative at least. ]
no subject
( Huh. Treating dogs really wasn't his area of expertise, but weight and everything meant it probably worked sort of the same, calculation-wise... right? Sedative seemed better than general, though, because he isn't an anesthesiologist. This was going to be interesting. )
He c-can uh, always-- always s-sleep it off here. ( Quietly adding, as he collects together some equipment. ) D-does he um, do this a lot?
no subject
[ Annnd a second later; ] Wait didya mean attack blenders? 'cause no, normally he attacks flesh and blood enemies. He's been beat up before and usually I fix it for 'im but I never have sedatives on me and he fidgets. [ Oh, she sees Donny's point now. But she doesn't admit it. ] Never had to do inside his mouth before, either.
[ Apollo decides then to go ahead and seat herself on the edge of the bed with Metalhead, who almost immediately places his head on her lap with a soft whine that sounds almost odd coming from a dog his size. ] Metal, you brought this shit upon yourself, y'know.
no subject
With a very slight smile, he nods. ) Sounds, uh, intense.
( The whine gets another smile, more sympathetic and a little more confident because it's directed at Metalhead and not Apollo. ) You'll b-be okay, b-buddy. Not uh, everyone b-- b-brave enough to t-take on a uh, a b-blender.
( DON'T JUDGE HIM FOR TALKING TO ANIMALS OKAY. A sheepish look at Apollo, and he's grabbing a syringe and the sedative. ) I'll p-patch him up, b-but um, I think m-maybe it's better if Ashraf g-gives him a look over later. D-dogs uh, aren't so-- so g-good at um, at t-taking it easy.
( Phew. Patients always need so much talking, it's kind of exhausting. )
no subject
Yeah I know right, fuckin' tell me about it.
[ As he goes about reassuring Metalhead (which receives no judgement from his master because she is constantly talking to the dog herself, so it's okay Donny she feels you!!), Apollo rests her hand on the back of the dog's neck to give him a comforting little scratch. It's not hard to tell she has a pretty big soft spot for her dog, even though she's usually a big selfish pain in the butt for people. ]
Ashraf? Who - oh. [ Her penchant for stupid nicknames tends to overshadow actual names sometimes, so it takes her a second to align the two and figure out who Ashraf is. ] The sorcerer, yeah? He does clinic shit too?
no subject
Yeah. ( Quietly, as he scratches Metalhead's neck - careful to watch for any injuries - before administering the injection. At least he's good at doing that, and as much as he's nervous, he's pretty good at the whole patient care deal. Also man he just loves dogs. ) He's uh, he k-kind of-- runs it? He's m-my boss, I g-guess. But, uh, his m-magic heals p-people, and everything. It'd b-be good to m-make sure this g-guy can run around again soon.
( That sure is some sedative, though. He was careful with the dosage, but it seems to be having an effect. He's just going to wait a moment to make sure Metalhead is good. )
Uh, d-does-- does he like other d-dogs?
( Hopeful. Sort of. Maybe. )
no subject
He calls it support magic or somethin', yeah? [ She's only briefly interacted with Ashraf before, but she remembers him well since he helped her get back to the city after everyone else bailed and left her behind in enemy territory. ] Fuckin' useful shit, whatever you call it. How 'bout you, d'you do magic stuff too? [ It's like now that she's starting talking she can't stop oh no. ] Or, well, I guess not healing crap 'cause you're dealin' with Metal the old fashioned way, but y'got anything else or what?
[ Apollo had been rubbing the dog's back with a comforting hand the whole time she was blabbing away, but only now is she noticing that Metalhead is already snoozing away. ] Well shit, look at that. [ Just to make sure, she pats him on the back a couple times and receives no response. ] But yeah, he's good with other dogs and shit. Why, there a dog park on the moon or somethin'?
no subject
( HE'S HERE TO LISTEN. He should be a bartender, or something. ) I have m-magic. Just-- fire stuff.
( His glance is questioning, a silent and yourself? because lady you have wings so that seems sort of magical. But maybe it's rude to presume. In fact he's sure it definitely is.
And you know what I'm going to be vague about all the medical business happening because I am Actually The Worst at that. Let's pretend he is doing a good job of... stuff and things. ) Uh, n-no. I mean m-maybe there uh, c-could be. ( Donny, shut up. ) M-my um, my friend has a d-dog.
no subject
[ She does notice the look he gives her, and to answer what she thinks he might be asking, she just shrugs and continues talking. ] I never got into the magic shit, that was my sister's thing. Always seemed like a lotta fuckin' work when you could just shoot or punch the life outta someone instead.
[ But yes Donny what a great job you're doing, Apollo doesn't know shit anyway so we're all cool. She is laughing at the dog park idea now, though. ] Yeah? Maybe I outta set up a playdate then.
no subject
( Oxygen, contained space, fire, that also just seemed like a bad combination of things.
And a bit of a grin. She's blunt and scary but it's kind of cool when people can just say what they think. He knocks his smile away fast, that typical shyness and also just-- his smile is stupid, and he shrugs a little in between his work. )
Maurice is um, k-kind of goofy. It's g-good for them to b-be social, though.
no subject
We're usually on the move so Metalhead doesn't get a lotta chances to do normal dog stuff with actual normal dogs. [ She's definitely more relaxed here now than she was when she first showed up, seeming to trust that Donny knew what he was doing and all. ] And I'm fuckin' bored in this stupid tin can already, I get the feelin' he ain't much more excited than me.
no subject
( At least Maurice has the kitten to play with. Which is mostly a kitten jumping around on him and him huffing about it, but it's cute. Donny has to lapse into silence for a few moments as he concentrates on what he's doing, before more on to the next thing. )
W-why, um-- why d-do you move a lot?
( And then, glances over at Apollo, ) If-- is that o-okay to ask? Sorry.
( Idiot. )
no subject
[ Skirting over the reasons, she offers some stupid commentary on the journey instead; all while retaining a reasonably positive attitude. ] Ain't exactly had much success on that front, but hey, been a colourful few years anyway.
I'M SORRY i have been the most shit with tagging this log :'|
( A colourful few years, yeah. Finding them must be important. ) Oh, um. M-my name's Donny.
it is alright!! i know you've been sick :c stuff happens!
I'm Apollo! And I dunno I guess it might actually be nice to meet you since you're doing all this shit here [ Vague hand gesture at the little operation going on with Metalhead's mouth, since apparently she's not good with specifics. ] for dummy.
it has been a pile of stuff BUT NOW I AM RECOVERED /POWERS THROUGH
( A bit of smile, but he doubletakes and looks considerably more cheery when he hears her name. ) Apollo? L-like uh, like the-- Greek g-god?
( And though he doesn't usually share this because it's usually embarrassing, in this instance it feels less awkward: ) Donny is uh, short f-for Adonis. ( Greek god name solidarity! Yeah! )
HOORAY welcome back!!
Uh, yeah I guess. It's some Earth mythology, ain't it? Apollo's uh... sun, and Artemis is moon. [ She is clearly struggling with limited knowledge of a world that isn't her own, but hey she's on the right track which is something for her. ] Cute twin gods, which I'm assuming is the reason why me and my twin sister got named Apollo and Artemis.
[ Adonis, however, is totally lost on her. ] That another Greek thing? What'd Adonis do?
Re: HOORAY welcome back!!
Uh, yup. It's-- Classical. Um, but Greek and uh, Roman society are the b-basis for lots of Western c--culture. ( not that it will necessarily mean anything, and he gulps a little as he wraps up Metalhead's treatment.)
In um, one version of the m-myth, uh. Artemis k-killed Adonis. ( he said, trying to be cheery before what he said caught up wth him. Well that's awkward.) Uh. Yep.
no subject
[ Two seconds later she thinks of something else to ask, and she blurts it out whether or not he's had a chance to answer the first. ] Hey, what about Kronos, that mean anything? It's what Grampa always called himself, always thought it was his crazy bullshit again but I mean fuck, turns out Earth is actually real so I don't fuckin' know anymore.
