Training
Date & Time: October 13
Location: Simulation rooms
Characters: Celebrian and Kili. Guest appearance from Galadriel and possibly Fili
Summary: Kili wants Celebrian to practice using her sword with him.
Warnings: Sword practice and possibly blood.
When Kili had asked her to practice with him, she'd been a bit apprehensive. Mostly for the fact that he'd gotten himself killed for her and while she was grateful and had come to terms with that, she was not comfortable with the idea of directing a sword against him. Practicing with her mother was entirely different, she knew she couldn't hurt her mother. Galadriel had a great deal more experience with a blade than Celebrian wanted.
Dressed in trousers, boots and a tunic, the she-elf collected Diamond-Cutter from beside her bunk and left for the simulation rooms. She probably looked a bit out of place with a blade, few would even imagine her to know how to hold one let alone own one.
She arrived before he did, glad for the time to stretch and mentally prepare herself for the thought of sparring against a friend- no, someone who had become family while here. And the nephew of the one that had crafted this sword for her.

"Sorry I'm late," he panted, pushing his hair back behind his ear. "I hope you haven't had to wait long."
no subject
"Oh no, it's alright. It hasn't been long and I thought I'd just warm up while I wait."
no subject
Kili smiles, relieved, and unsheathes his sword. "I'm...sure you already know to be careful. Too hard of a hit can break bone, if it lands just right, and obviously we don't want to accidentally maim each other."
He grins.
no subject
"I do. My mother and I have been working together. It's been a long time since I first learned how to hold a blade."
And that had only been the basics then. Defending herself had never been anything she really needed to worry about.
no subject
"Easiest way for me to learn was sparring."
no subject
And it was almost funny how Kili had about the same idea as Galadriel had, training and practicing with Celebrian to get her used to a blade and learn how to properly protect herself.
"I believe that's the same way the twins were taught."
no subject
He looks to her curiously, giving his sword a few practice swings to be sure the balance is the same. He's been training mostly with his bow lately, and it's been a while since he's taken his sword out.
Thorin and Dwalin would have words with him if they were here and knew.

She held her sword almost carefully, reminding herself quickly of what Galadriel had taught her since she'd picked up a blade here in Exsilium. After a moment of uncertainty, she looked to Kili with a faint smile and a nod to tell him that she was ready.
In a way, she wasn't at all ready. It was hard to look on her mother or Kili and to practice with them, not being able to see anyone but her loved ones rather than the UE soldiers she might one day be forced to defend herself against.

Of course, Kili was usually asking if Celebrian had siblings, so it's not too surprising. He waits for her signal before readying himself. He's not sure how good Bri is, so he'll go slow to start and just see how it goes.
A feral sort of excitement lights up his eyes. He really needs to get Fili to do this more with him. He misses it. The first swing will be slower, easy to deflect.
no subject
Oh, she really missed Arwen and her boys. She knew that everyone would be alright, Arwen had been here already and she'd been all grown up then. Grown up in Exsilium when Celebrian hadn't even been married yet. Time travel...
Part of her was grateful that Kili was taking it easy on her to start and part of her wished he wouldn't. If he wasn't, she wouldn't be able to focus on the fact that this is Kili. It can't be helped though, not right now, and she almost easily deflected his attack.
no subject
Kili's tone is questioning, but he doesn't stop. Training mind and body at the same time was something Dwalin was always did on Kili.
He swings again, a little trickier this time.
no subject
"When I was first brought here, I was still just betrothed. After some time, I was returned to Middle Earth. I married and had children. Then I was brought back."
And Galadriel became even more of a mama bear for awhile, since she was still recovering from Arwen's birth. Her mother had practically forced her to bed, to rest and had even come over to her apartment to make sure she was resting and to fuss over her.
no subject
This though, is something he's never heard Celebrian talk about, and he's interested. But also, training. Celebrian has an advantage as far as height goes so it's a little trickier for Kili.
"Seems like they can't leave well enough alone, can they?"
Swing, swing. Come on, Bri. Step it up a notch.
no subject
"They really can't but I'm not sure I have it in me to hold a grudge for it."
And nobody was surprised to hear her say so.
Oh but Kili, what if she doesn't want to? She knows that she has to but fighting... She'll try.
no subject
"You...are one of a kind, milady."
But really, this is a sad training session. If Bri isn't going to step it up of her own volition, Kili will just have to make her.
no subject
Have at her Kili. As much as she doesn't want to have to 'fight' him, she could probably keep up for awhile. At least, as far as it was training and not actually a 'fight for your life' kind of session.

She's not much for offense and mostly just defends herself but there are a few times where she tries to turn it against him, to make him defend himself.

The elf is a striking figure. Like him, she's standing out of the way, watching the sparring pair.
Fili thinks of what Kili told him, the oath he was given.
no subject
"Master Fili, I presume."
no subject
"Lady Galadriel?" Both her name and Celebrian's don't roll off the tongue easily, he's finding; to tell the truth, he feels a little self-conscious. "My brother has spoken of you."

"It's an honour to meet you."

Fili shakes his head slightly. "There's nothing to forgive, my lady." Pausing, he considers that she must mean all of this – the UE attack, the moon.
He's been preoccupied himself.
"But I was hoping to thank you," he continues. "I'm grateful for what you've done for Kili."
no subject
Her eyes flick up to the sparring pair and rest for a moment on Celebrían. It's hard to see her with a sword. So much of Galadriel's own youth had been spent in a time of war; she had wanted better for her daughter.
"I owe your brother a debt that I cannot possibly repay. Even my own life would not be enough; she is far dearer to me than that."
no subject
He's grateful that what Kili did wasn't dismissed.
"Kili cares for her." Fili looks away from the sparring, up at Galadriel. "He wanted her safe – that's what matters to him." Celebrian was family, Kili had said. Debts and repayments haven't been on his mind.
