(no subject)

Date: November 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings. The zombie plot will not spill over into this area, this area is safe and unaffected! To face zombies, characters must leave the area, and please move to the event log with those threads.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced — although it won't have Network access for another 8 hours. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now; the only lighting comes from dull red emergency lights, but there are… noises. Listen carefully. Over the voices of your fellow Transports, now and then you might catch the sound of a scrape, or a low and muffled cry. It doesn't sound human. Are there animals up here?

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Welcome to the moon base, and to the remains of Exsilium.

[[ ooc; As a note for players of current characters: please keep your root comments confined to the various groups and organizations that set up root comments to greet new characters! We highly encourage tagging around here, but since it's a log meant for new characters specifically, we ask that they be the ones to set up root threads to the entry. Thank you, and happy playing! ]]

It's - not exactly detailed, I know. [ she doesn't exactly remember her own arrival fondly, mind, though it also wasn't on the moon. she takes a look at him, brow knitting in thought slightly as she wonders what weapon he's chosen. she doesn't ask. not yet. ] They should've given you a tablet. There's more on that. [ a nod. ] The same questions, honestly. From everyone.

And - a key, maybe? We'll find your room, if nothing else.

And a lot of panic and confusion, as well. [He pointedly avoids the tablet, because technology, why, and produces the key. That's a better start than fighting with the tablet just to get a face full of more panic and confusion than he's already gotten.] I'm going to assume they're not private quarters.

[Because why would they be. That would make sense. That would actually be very nice. Oh here, enjoy this war we'd like you to fight from the comfort of a luxury suite. Hah. Hah. Hah.]

They are not.

[ look. her roommates are cool. but she's not terribly keen on the idea either because oh goodness, some privacy would be wonderful, wouldn't it? but she frowns and sighs and it's just a thing you have to get used to, rumple. ] What's the number? [ she stands on tiptoe to get a glimpse of it. ]

The good news is, the chances of a terrible roommate are slim.

[ SHE COULD... SWITCH WITH ONE OF THEM??? ]

[Belle, you don't always have the best judgment when it comes to terrible roommates. You see good in everyone and he sees bad in everyone. This is like if a cat and dog got married.

None of which he says, but the pointedly uncomfortable look he gives her says he sure is thinking it.]
114. [He holds it up a bit, turns it over.] I don't suppose you know anyone who lives there?

[Spoilers. That room is mostly empty except for Hawke. He lucked out.]

[ CASUALLY MULLS THAT OVER... and then, almost apologetically: ] I don't think so.

[ dreary sigh. okay. so that's no reason for fear of the unknown roommate to set in, and she could mention moving in there as well, but who would she even bring that up to? but if it's empty? if it's empty, she can visit, at the very least.

she links her arm through his as they continue off through the base, taking a turn toward some of the dormitories.
] There's the possibility that there's going to be four of you. It's - [ cramped. ] - not terribly private, but we aren't in there often, anyway.

And why is that? The Initiative's sending us off to battle every waking moment? [Maybe sound less amused, Rumple. MAYBE. It's a bit of a joke, though- the whole thing. He nudges her with his shoulder a bit, trying to make light of a situation he is ungodly tense about.] When they're not making soldiers out of group of hardscrabble refugees from across various realms, that is.

Not exactly. [ she's amused as well, and returns the nudge with one of her own. she's aware of the tension and welcomes the moment to diffuse it, though she glances up at him with a slight, mocking frown. ]

There are missions that we take part in. Some mandatory. Otherwise, there's training, there's medical attention. Anything to keep you out of a small dormitory for the majority of your time.
