[Heath absolutely leapt at the opportunity to get off the moon base for a while, to get out of the stifling plastic cage that had been his home for almost two months. Even more tempting was spending it with a girl. Like heck he could ever turn something like that down. The human disguise, however, was a major downside. Though he knew from experience that normies got really antsy around monsters, so it was probably for the best.

So now he stands in Paris, glancing around, looking just like any regular normie]

This place looks almost identical to Scaris. The normies really did make their side of the city look exactly like ours. Talk about no imagination.

"We" being - Americans, right? [She hadn't realized that was her assumption about Heath's background but now that she has made it so much is explained]

[He grins and nods] That's right. The good 'ol U.S.A.

I spent over a year after coming to this planet completely convinced that the United Kingdom and United States were the same country. Your widespread mastery of geography stupefies me.

Nah, there's like...a whole ocean between us. And they have a queen ad stuff. We got out of the queen thing by throwing a bunch of tea off a boat.

The British really like tea.

[She squints like she was almost going to ask him what tea was then thought a little more about it.]

You know, sometimes people talk about what sort of government we [the Transports] should have. [EVEN THOUGH THIS IS BEFORE THE MUTINY IT DID SOMETIMES HAPPEN. She blinks at Heath a little soliciting his opinion.]

Really? [He considers this for a moment, before shrugging] I always figured the Initiative were in charge.

That is a much healthier point of view than the majority of the population has.

It just makes sense. They're the ones who brought us here, right?

Yeah. Whether or not they choose us is a matter of mystery and controversy.

Okay, so they might not like...hand pick us, but it's still their power that brings us here. I mean...they still want people to help them fight.

Yeah, they do... you know, I'm really glad you came out here with me. Not a lot of people are willing to go on missions that aren't vacations, these days.

[He offers her a smile] Well, I'm all up for a vacation, but I also want to get all this mess sorted so I can go home and that my home would be safe. Just makes sense for us all to band together and try to make everything right.
