(no subject)

Date: December 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room; they show multiple variations of satellite images, focused on... somewhere snowy. It's difficult to say more than that, but those that record heat readings seem to suggest there are people there, where ever "there" is. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now. But, hey, at least all the lights are on, right? No more creepy red emergency lighting upon arrival — not that you'd know anything about that.

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Welcome to the moon base, and to the remains of Exsilium.

Oz is very swiftly rising through the ranks of most baffling people Karkat has met today. The simplicity of his answer and the complete dearth of irony takes Karkat so off guard that he forgets to look angry for a split second, before he recovers himself, smacking the heel of a palm against his forehand.

"No," he gets out through gritted teeth. "The answer was no, you blithering shitpipe, what part of my behavior so far even remotely resembles friendliness? Or are you just another one of those bizarre humans who really get off on verbal punishment for some reason?"
battering: (all the time,to get you off my mind.)

[ He can't help but sigh. ] Man, this is some really crazy shit.
battering: (how he does it,only heaven knows.)

That's a long time... [ He's quiet for a second before perking right back up, suddenly, with an oh so determined look. ]

Hah! Don't worry, once I find Mikoto-san, he'll find a way to get everyone back! That's how great he is!

[ laughing! ]

Now that that's settled, where shall we go, King?

[She nods, crossing her arms.]

Yeah! It's totally not fair and we can't just go outside to the moon whenever we want!

[A beat.] Hmm, but we can try anyway...
gillitine: (a tenderness sweeps me)

[personal profile] gillitine 2013-12-11 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess it can be hard to trust people who bring you into a situation like this...

[Selim lives off photosynthesis and an occasional drink of blood, herself. But she's managed to learn where things are in this space station, so it's with confidence that she nods and turns in the direction of the cafeteria.]

Alright! It's this way.

Adopted rings through his head, a measure of relief somewhere behind it, knowing that if this is all true, multiple conceptions of the man called Bruce Wayne through different places, where Stephanie Brown would be a familiar name, and Dick Grayson as well, then at the very least it had been a choice. Not one he could understand from his current perspective, but a choice nonetheless.

A young one. Either a bad family situation, or knowing himself, the things he might gravitate toward, no family at all. Lost or stolen.

Angry down to your bones?

"Thank you." There's not much to read in his tone. Something tired, but something else that's considering.

Bruce begins to walk again. "For the warning. Is he living with you?"

He knows he's not walking too fast to match pace with right now, let alone for a healthy, able bodied young woman, and he has no intention to have discussions standing still in unfamiliar halls.

He has more ground to cover here, and if she doesn't come along, she's already given him enough to think about. He'd have to search out this Dick Grayson at some point, and say -- what? He doesn't know him. Alfred would probably find something amusing in the juxtaposition of Bruce as a guardian or Father figure to anyone else. Bruce has only recently learned how to take care of himself, let alone a thirteen year old with a history he doesn't know.

But the injustice behind this, whatever it is, pairing people who know nothing about each other in truth together, that doesn't justify or explain ignoring someone else, let alone someone he might -- allowing all of this insanity any hold on truth -- might actually be responsible for.

The headache pounding behind his eyes intensifies. He barely notices.

There's aristocracy, there's positions of rule, and then there's Leadership.

The last one's a different thing. It's not just ability to tell people what to do - but to inspire or control them to go beyond their ordinary limits.

My world's the odd one out around here though.

Bruce doesn't respond to the so what so much beyond a small shrug of his shoulders. How does anyone handle kids? He hasn't the faintest. He's never really needed to, not for ages. "Must have been fourteen once myself. Can't seem to remember what it was like at the moment."

Fourteen is far too young. Hers isn't the only young face here, but knowing, really hearing, how young she is comes across as startling. It leaves an unpleasant sour taste in his mouth. As far as dreams went, this wasn't a particularly inspiring one. "About that coffee..." he asks instead, offering a half smile, tipping his teacup up and toward the group at large. "Think you could give me a point in the right direction?"

What better idea is there, though? Overpowering won't work... Consider that no matter how strong you are, they've probably copied the powers of someone just as strong. Or worse, they'll subvert your abilities somehow.
inflorence: (head tilt question with cane in hand)

[personal profile] inflorence 2013-12-11 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
What would cause someone to lose track of the years? Bruce can imagine countless ways, has felt like he's dipped into those places where time stops mattering because of the anger or the misery or whatever darkness comes to haunt a person when they feel like the things they've done have failed the world.

"Why's that?" He figures the question makes as much sense as anything else; being pointed in inquiries might work. The kid looked older than twelve, but not old enough to be out on his own. Around the age of one of the kids in the overhauled mansion, the Wayne Manor for boys without a place to be.

None of this can be real. If it is, and it's true, then he has to deal with the sick twist in his gut, the sour taste on his tongue, and the way he wants to frown and consider this room, these people, and their implications.

[personal profile] lafouldre 2013-12-11 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. That's - well. I don't really know what to think of that. I don't think it's science at all. We've always had it.

[ England. Hm. ] I've never been there. I suppose I still won't quite get to go there, but.
lafouldre: (okay better)

[personal profile] lafouldre 2013-12-11 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That's fairly accurate, though Larissa would feel a little stung if Kougyoku said it out loud. She's been told several too many times how little her power means in comparison to others. ]

Not a great deal. They're confirming it's not a dream, unfortunately. And this place - this place is going to be empty soon.
lafouldre: (well aren't you cute)

[personal profile] lafouldre 2013-12-11 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, me through the cards, but. Have you never seen someone looking at the future before?
lafouldre: (tucking hair behind ear)

[personal profile] lafouldre 2013-12-11 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I hope so. I've worked very hard to stay sane. [ See, joking. Joking is a good way to maintain a sense of normality too. This is all doable, isn't it?

She feels like she's psyching herself up for a test. Maybe if she just stays thinking of it like that she won't start thinking of it as what it actually is. ]

Well, I'll make sure to pass it on sometime. Thank you. It's very kind of you, I'm quite glad I ran into you. Not literally, I don't want to actually run into you, but. [ Larissa stop talking now. ] How does food work up here?
lafouldre: (winsomely smiling)

[personal profile] lafouldre 2013-12-11 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She taps the moon card, the tower placed cross ways on top of it. ]

Essentially. It means both that this is not a dream and that I must accept the truth of the matter. The interpretation is a little more complicated than that, I mean there's other cards too, but.
kneecaptain: (brooding & communist joke)

[personal profile] kneecaptain 2013-12-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No way. I wanna keep being mad at him about my house. [ Which was really Steve's house that Bucky decided was his. After Steve died. And, speaking of dressing: ] Your outfit's different.

[ He's not dead, of course, not really. But he wonders how isolated he's been. ]

So— [ Geez Louise is Steve better suited for this kind of thing ] You got any questions?
hellosailor: (Consider blowjobs)

[personal profile] hellosailor 2013-12-11 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind if you did. [It's an obvious bit of flirting, so ham-fisted that it's more a joke than anything else. She's cute as anything but this also wasn't really the right time. Besides, the long game payed off sometimes.]

Oh, they've got a kitchen. It's full of garbage, but a lot of people go on these missions to other places to grab the good stuff. It's kind of, ah, you know, ridiculous? But you can probably ask a favor, face like yours and people'll fall at your feet. And you can always go on one yourself, I hear they're alright.

[Although he personally hadn't gone on one yet. He smiled a lot but he goddamn hated the assholes who brought him here and he had no intention of palling up with one of their little helpers and going to fetch crackers. He'd wait until he had someone he could rely on and see what trouble he could cause.]
blondtactician: (distress)

these kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiids

[personal profile] blondtactician 2013-12-11 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw her too.

[Armin doesn't think now is the time to bring up that suspicion eating at him, not when there's so much else to do. It's unthinkable that he would ever suspect something like that of Annie, and yet...

Why can't things ever be simple? Mikasa makes things easier, somehow. She smooths out the edges with both sharpness and bluntness.]

Captain Levi is here, and Commander Smith. I haven't seen anyone else. Aside from you, before.

[Armin feels the need to cling to Eren all the more tightly, because Mikasa isn't here. I'm not as strong as you, but I'll look after Eren for you. Even if it feels more like Eren's the one looking after him.]

Maybe all of you coming at once is a sign more will come.

[Using honesty to make things worse is especially fun.]

Wouldn't that be nice? They're a little too idealistic about this situation. I wouldn't mind more apathy though.
clansman: ("in bed.")

[personal profile] clansman 2013-12-11 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh?

[ It's a short exhale as much as it is a question. ]

Here?
changeitroundsome: (It's only sad cause it's true)

[personal profile] changeitroundsome 2013-12-11 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[As she will go on his, can't be too careful]

You sound skeptical. Not one to believe such things?
firefromstars: (gonna be a fight)

[personal profile] firefromstars 2013-12-11 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[ They've reached the point of no return. ]
firefromstars: (my bullshit senses are tingling)

[personal profile] firefromstars 2013-12-11 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Koriand'r stares at the screen for a minute before looking back at the boy. ]

Tamaran. The name of my planet is Tamaran. The Teen Titans are my friends.

[ She frowns. ]

This is very strange. I have never seen you before in my life.
