Summary: They really need to stop reuniting like this.
Warnings: Not much. Probably tsundere slapping, but that's normal.

[Sheena is still getting settled back in after her extremely long mission, but that doesn't stop her from running down the hall when she gets the news that some people have returned. Zelos likely only had a couple hours to himself. And now she's here to ruin it. She knocks on the door, then crosses her arms. As usual she's torn between wanting to beat the snot out of Zelos and wanting to welcome him back, but that's really not that unusual either.]

Z- er, Kaneis! Are you in there? You'd better be!

[Zelos had been spending those couple hours making sure to warm up again. He could've spent he spent the past full week freezing to death out there, even if he spent a lot of it inside. And even if he wasn't at all fond of the moonbase, it was nice to get a break from the snow]

[He's alone when she comes pounding on the door. He also takes his dear sweet time answering. With what you know, putting on a a shirt and making sure he didn't have bed hair. ]

[But when he does, he seems happy to see her.]

Well hey! I didn't know you were back!

[The longer she's forced to wait, the more impatient she gets. But the expression that greets Zelos is relieved, not angry. She hesitates for a moment, then leans forward to hug him anyway. They're sort of going out so she can do this, okay.

DON'T YOU SAY A FUCKING THING, ZELOS.]

You were already gone. They said you were back in Exsilium--

[She straightens a little bit.]

It's like the world fell apart just 'cause I left. Is... everything okay now?

[As usual, he freezes just a little when he gets pulled into a hug. It's something he's still getting used to, and from Sheena it is a bit odder. But unlike with others, it only takes a moment or two before he returns the hug]

[AND DEAR GOD NOT SAYING A FUCKING THING HE DOESN'T WANT TO DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH]

[Though okay, yeah teasing her about that]

Yeah, maybe it was cause you left! Tsk tsk Sheena!

[He gives a little shrug]

Nothing too catastrophic that I've heard of lately, so I guess so? Just a lot of arguments about laws and politics.

[Yeah, well, that's what people do when they like each other. They have physical contact. Deal with it.

She returns his personal space to him shortly, though. She doesn't want to be clingy, and besides that, she's feeling a bit shy.]

It's not like I had a choice. I wish I could say it was a vacation, but I spent most of the mission on the run. Turns out the magitech in the past was pretty good at finding thieves.

[She glances around to see if his roommates are home.]

Anyway, do you have a minute? There's something I want to talk about.

Wow, seriously? That sounds like a total pain. Are you okay?

[And the roommates are gone for the day! Or else he just hasn't told them he's back yet, whatever. Either way, he steps aside so she can come in]

And sure, I got time. What's up?

I'm fine. I brought back a whole bunch of medical supplies, so the clinic should be good for a while.

[Sheena accepts the silent invitation. Of course, being in close space with him makes her keenly aware of the odd, not-quite-datingness of their current relationship. If she grabbed him and kissed him right now, it wouldn't get anything done. But after this, he might not want to talk to her for a while.]

You said Lloyd came back. [She looks at him seriously.] What happened?

Hey, thanks.

[That should make things a little easier. He closes the door behind her. Bringing up the topic of Lloyd makes him frown, unhappy (though unsurprised) that this is the thing she wanted to talk about. But at least for now, it doesn't seem to be much more than just that]

With Lloyd? [still frowning, he give a shrug] Not much? I ran into him while we were dealing with zombies and then we parted ways when we reached a safe spot.

That's about it.

He hasn't tried to contact you since? [That's pretty weird. She doesn't say that out loud, but it's written on her face pretty clearly. After a moment, she unfolds her arms.] I'm glad it didn't turn into anything really awful. [And she's proud of Zelos for not making it worse.

She takes a couple steps into the room. It's small just like hers, and she immediately longs for her old apartment, decorated with the occasional old Asian thing and smelling distinctly of curry and pastries. Something's on her mind, if the way she distractedly tugs on her gloves means anything. She's not even registering that it's odd to put Zelos and home in the same thought, like he belongs there.]

...I'm not sure he knows how to use the tablet yet. [Because frankly, he knows that lloyd WILL try to contact him. Lloyd said that much himself. But hey, simple country bumpkin is a simple country bumpkin.] And how is nearly getting eaten by zombies not awful exactly?

[But he sure does notice those tugging on the gloves, the fact she seems distracted. With how long he's known her, he knows the signs by heart] Something on your mind?

You can take care of yourself if there's zombies involved. [But he's bad with emotions. Not that she's much better, but still.

As usual, he can see her heart on her sleeve.] That obvious, huh?

Look, I... I'm not sure about all this. [Oh wait, this is coming out wrong.] W-what I mean is, I just don't know if we're-- together or not.

[And then it all comes out in a big rush, Sheena touching her red cheeks and trying to hide them.]

And it's embarrassing! I want to be happy because this is what I wanted but what if I think it's one thing, and you think it's something else, and then we both end up confused and then-- what if we're not really together at all? What are the rules for this sort of thing? I don't know how any of this works so I just keep thinking that-- that maybe I was a bad choice for this and you could have anyone else and I just...

[And wow that WAS one big rush of things. One that makes him seem a bit wide eyed and confused since okay what what what]

Uh.

[Okay, maybe he should try to clarify]

Are you...asking me about rules of relationships or breaking up with me?

[She stares at him like he grew an arm out of his forehead.]

W... what? No, I'm not breaking up with you--

[...]

Wait, does that mean we're actually going out?

[Oh good, that's a relief. But that's now followed by a pause. Well, that's a good question. He rubs the back of his neck]

I dunno...I mean I definitely haven't been with anyone else since we kissed. Haven't even tried!

So, uh, I guess so?

[Sheena stares at him, but she's not even sure what to say. What /can/ she say?]

... Really? I thought you were supposed to be the experienced one here.

[She runs her fingers through her bangs, sighing lightly. She's not exactly exasperated, just feeling dumb for getting all worked up and emotional. But that's par for the course when it comes to dealing with Zelos.]

I guess that means... we're official now. Or something. I guess.

[He holds up his hands as if to show his innocence]

Not with actual relationships I'm not. Wooing, charming and the physical stuff are whole other animals to that.

[Those things don't mean anything, they were easy. Unlike right now where he feels his stomach tied up. Like he's not sure where to go]

I guess, yeah...but [he shrugs] I dunno if there's even set rules for this. Let's just...do with what we feel comfortable with, okay?

... I really had no idea. I guess we're both new at this, then.

[She scratches at her cheek, still blushing quite fiercely.]

Then, uh, we should-- go on another date! [It's not the best time for that, but she doesn't care.] Obviously.

[And he should obviously kiss her right now, but he's just out of reach and she's just a little shy.]

Uh-

[He gives a chuckle; jeez she really is awkward about all this. But it's not like he isn't either]

How about we just...hang out? C'mon, it's not like we have anywhere to go on a date here anyway.

[His laugh isn't condescending, just about as nervous as she feels. Realizing that, she lets out a little sigh and relaxes a fraction.]

... Yeah, you're right.

[At last Sheena smiles, though it does little to hide her awkwardness.]

Okay, then let's hang out. [She glances around briefly.] Does it matter where I sit?

Good. [he relaxes a little and returns the smile with a slight one.]

Uh...no, I don't think so. Just look out for any orange furry things before you do...or food.

[Sheena blinks. She takes a spot on the floor, leaning against the lower bunk.]

Orange furry thing? You mean like a cat?

[He shrugs and moves to sit on the floor next to her]

More like a fox, actually. Just with more tails.

...And breaths fire.

[Sheena sloowwwwly turns her head toward him, her expression incredulous.]

What.

[She's pretty sure Corrine didn't have a fire-breathing cousin but maybe she's been wrong all along.]

How did you end up with something like that?

[Maybe Corrine just didn't want to talk about his fire breathing relatives!! It could've been a touchy subject]

Heh...

It's a weird unbelievable story? I'm not even sure I believe it all myself.

[She would've adopted both of them. There is no doubt.]
