who decides what's right or wrong? where is the truth?
Date & Time: January 2nd, about 2:00pm
Location: The outskirts of town
Characters:
onehundredswords and
inhumanity
Summary: A Shinigami and a Homunculus walk into a forest. The Shinigami says "Lets talk about your creepy scientist dad." And the Homunculus says "Lets not." Unfortunately, he soon discovered he didn't have much of a choice. That's it that's the joke.
Warnings: cw: the greatest friendship, but for real if anything comes up I'll throw it in. It's Gin and Christopher those two deserve warnings regardless.
[He knew it would be simple enough to get Christopher out here with him - a part of him even suspected the guy probably knew this was all a ruse in the first place, but it's not like it really matters. They didn't even have to come all the way out here for him to try and bring this up, but despite the breach of privacy he's about to commit, he can respect it might not be something Chris would like to have brought up in a more populated area. No chance of anyone overhearing a thing out here.
Then again, he doesn't understand him enough to even know whether or not he would care. Maybe that's just a lie he's telling himself.
Either way, he doesn't dwell too much on the situation, or whether or not it's right or wrong to butt in like this. He just keeps walking with Christopher in tow, arms tucked into his sleeves as he steps over another mound of snow, peering into the distance as if he's really on the lookout for some Yetis to kill, that being the excuse he'd used to get him to come along in the first place.]
Ah, quiet so far, huh? We should go in a bit deeper. Maybe they're hidin' - if I was one of 'em I'd do the same thing.

One of the ways he does this is by keeping it in his hands, spinning it between fingers, tossing it between palms and flipping it through the air. By the time he puts it through anything's neck, he'll have brought built a harmony between them.]
They're very intelligent. Some would even say sentient. In fact, some seem to have. What a beautiful day for senseless slaughter with a friend.
[He is so cheerful as he says it, complete with a cheerful laugh. If Christopher knows Gin's ulterior motives, his body language isn't giving it away.]
no subject
All he does is walk for another little bit. Any point before this would have been fine, but he just keeps walking, the illusion of an actual hunting orientated goal lingering. It's only once he sees a little clearing up ahead, a parting in the trees where an opening sits in the middle of the forest, that he decides they've walked long enough. With a sudden jump to his step he doubles his pace, looking over his shoulder.]
Hey! Just up here. C'mon.
[No mention of whether or not he saw something, just asking him to follow.]

[He breathes in sharply, sounding a little pleased, before leaning against the nearest elevated surface he can sit on, a tree stump about two or three feet away from Chris.]
I actually like the cold, y'know. Makes the air nice an' crisp - somethin' almost fresh about it.
[He turns in Christopher's direction then, still smiling.]
I lied, by the way. I didn't bring you out here to hunt nothin' - was hopin' we could have a little chat, actually, real private like.

1/2
No, nothin' like that.
no subject
I wanted to ask about Huey. Y'know, concernin' the stuff that guy said durin' the tarot card thing.
no subject
no subject
But that's an issue for another time.
Besides, no need to actually answer.]
Cause bein' so closely tied to someone like that...["Like that" meaning what he heard. From their conversations alone, he gathered nothing noteworthy about Huey.]...don't sound so great is all.
no subject
On the contrary, it is an honour and a delight to serve someone as much of a genius as Master Huey. I could never want to be unbound from him.
[Those first line defences as he watches, waits, measures. Decides what strike might best drive Gin away.]
no subject
So what, you feel like you owe him for somethin'? [Just a guess. He's still clueless when it comes to Christopher's actual origins.]
no subject
no subject
Did you already try that yourself, then?
no subject
[It doesn't read like a lie. Hyperbole, maybe, but for the core of the statement, Christopher seems to believe what he says.]
no subject
[A thoughtful little hum, as he rests his chin on his hand.]
Why? What's he done for ya' that's so great?
[Had Facilier not mentioned "treated like an experiment", not to mention the fact Chris tried once to get out of this whole mess, he wouldn't insist so much. That's why he thinks this is all bullshit one way or another.]
no subject
Ah, are you treating our mutual friend's parlour trick as more than 'just a laugh'? How sweet your misguided concerns! Sadly, while the cards Dr Facilier drew weren't wrong, I'm afraid he made some error in his interpretation.
no subject
Enlighten me.
no subject
no subject
What? An' you're happy with that?
no subject
[Amused, almost condescending, Christopher spreads his arms.] If I weren't happy with my existence, why, I'd never be able to survive it. And I'm determined to survive everything.
no subject
[A hum.]
Shame about the lack of ambition.

(bite tear rend kill, stop him, get rid of him, don't let the pain get worse)
Christopher answers Gin with kindness, as is due to such a friend. He is only gentle now.]
Ah, that's a good start for trying to pry into it. It's easy to call someone out on your own failings, isn't it? Unfortunately, you'll find that your reflection won't serve you well this time.
Neither will your history.
[A smile curls, slowly.]
Is this how it was for that girl you wanted to protect? Truly, I feel some sympathy for her. It must have been very painful. [He presses a hand to his heart, sorrowful, compassionate.] You came along and saw someone that seemed pitiable to you, and out of the kindness still inside you, you became attached. I imagine she grew to care about you as much as you must have cared for her, and you're very smart, so you couldn't have had any trouble at all working out what kind of manipulation you would need to right the wrongs done to her. Clever as you are, you know best.
Of course, an intelligence like that isn't just directed at enemies. I wonder, how much did you hurt that girl because you knew what was best for her? What a sacrifice! Not just your own life devoted to vengeance for her, you even gave her your death. But did you ask her if that was she wanted?
My guess would be 'no.' After all, you are so very clever. You didn't need to! [And when Christopher laughs, it's like he can't get enough of the situation.]
[The laughter lingers in his voice and on his mouth.] Personally, I'm not interested in the suffering you'll force on me in my name. Not that I'd ever weep over your corpse and bear the weight of it, but . . . the mess I'll see when you have to acknowledge to yourself that you care is going to be too embarrassing. [A shake of the head.] I'm afraid I'll have to pass. [Brightly, he adds a kind condolence.] But don't fret about your lack of purpose! You can use Rin instead. I'm sure she can serve your need for self-satisfaction well.
[And then, Christopher straightens up. He glances around, his expression curious and excited. Energy runs through him as he presses a hand to his forehead and searches around.] Now, where are the yeti? You deserve to have good luck with one kind of hunt today!
1/2
But he isn't going to do something stupid. There's a sudden burst of anger deep down inside of him that makes him want to punch Christopher right in his stupid face and break all of his teeth, one by one if he had to, then pluck out his eyes and kill him very, very slowly. It'd probably be really satisfying even if he didn't react to it, which at this point he'd expect.
So he chases away those dangerous thoughts before he loses himself in a darker part of himself he hasn't had surface in quite some time.
Can't deny it, can't talk around it. He doesn't even know enough about Christopher to turn this all back on him either.
So.]
no subject
One thing though, just...
[He stands up.]
I'm not gonna stop. You know that, right?
no subject
Then as a friend, allow me to give you a warning: I would do anything to protect Master Huey. Rin is the obvious target, but . . . honestly, it doesn't matter what I have to do. I simply can't allow anyone like you threaten my survival.
[The kris reappears in his hand, dark enough to eat all the reflected sunlight. It can cut through dreams and aspirations, Liam warned.] There should be a mountain range nearby. They live in the caves around there.
no subject
[A part of him thinks Do not but no, he won't worry. Maybe she'll be ok.
Or maybe he'll just start making training harder to speed things up a bit.]
But that's kind of you. Especially since here I am, bein' such a bad friend an' all. Maybe I can make it up to you one day.
[But if that's what he's going to do, Gin just goes along with it and starts walking.]
I'm guessing if we do get a few you'd rather we leave the corpses for nature to take care of, yeah?
no subject
[Over and over, he flips the blade in his hand, back to the idle gestures that don't mean a thing, or maybe they mean the world. All the violence in him is gone, and he sounds as peaceful and cheerful as it is possible to be with a weapon like that between his fingers.
He chuckles and shakes his head.] That might seem like the natural thing to do, but sadly, I'll have to steal away the winnings of the scavengers around here. All those Christmas presents didn't buy themselves, you know.
no subject
[He shrugs as he walks.]
That's fine though - you can have all of 'em if you want. I don't really got a need for 'em.
no subject
[And lost to.
Fuck you, Vino. Just fuck you.]
Marvellous, then! You'll be able to carry extra ones back for me. [Imposing on Gin just as if nothing has changed is easy. Lies always are.]
no subject
But I don't mind. We agreed to use each other in this friendship till the very end, after all.
[Better believe that was brought up intentionally.]
no subject
It's the continuation of a beautiful friendship]
