who decides what's right or wrong? where is the truth?

Date & Time: January 2nd, about 2:00pm
Location: The outskirts of town
Characters: [personal profile] onehundredswords and [personal profile] inhumanity
Summary: A Shinigami and a Homunculus walk into a forest. The Shinigami says "Lets talk about your creepy scientist dad." And the Homunculus says "Lets not." Unfortunately, he soon discovered he didn't have much of a choice. That's it that's the joke.
Warnings: cw: the greatest friendship, but for real if anything comes up I'll throw it in. It's Gin and Christopher those two deserve warnings regardless.

[He knew it would be simple enough to get Christopher out here with him - a part of him even suspected the guy probably knew this was all a ruse in the first place, but it's not like it really matters. They didn't even have to come all the way out here for him to try and bring this up, but despite the breach of privacy he's about to commit, he can respect it might not be something Chris would like to have brought up in a more populated area. No chance of anyone overhearing a thing out here.

Then again, he doesn't understand him enough to even know whether or not he would care. Maybe that's just a lie he's telling himself.

Either way, he doesn't dwell too much on the situation, or whether or not it's right or wrong to butt in like this. He just keeps walking with Christopher in tow, arms tucked into his sleeves as he steps over another mound of snow, peering into the distance as if he's really on the lookout for some Yetis to kill, that being the excuse he'd used to get him to come along in the first place.
]

Ah, quiet so far, huh? We should go in a bit deeper. Maybe they're hidin' - if I was one of 'em I'd do the same thing.
inhumanity: (dianthus balbisii)

[Christopher follows along, a lightness to his step as they crunch through the snow. He has his new weapon out, the light-eatingly dark kris that Liam had given him, all wicked curves and sharp edges. The weapon is completely new to him, though he has a familiarity with knives, but Christopher has always been self-taught anyway. And this feels like a good chance to get a sense of what he'll be working with.

One of the ways he does this is by keeping it in his hands, spinning it between fingers, tossing it between palms and flipping it through the air. By the time he puts it through anything's neck, he'll have brought built a harmony between them.]

They're very intelligent. Some would even say sentient. In fact, some seem to have. What a beautiful day for senseless slaughter with a friend.

[He is so cheerful as he says it, complete with a cheerful laugh. If Christopher knows Gin's ulterior motives, his body language isn't giving it away.]
inhumanity: (Sanguinaria canadensis)

[Christopher obeys, shifting grip on the kris so that it won't hurt either of them. He becomes quiet, minimizing the sound he makes as he springs through the snow after Gin. If it's a yeti, he'll be ready to attack it. And if not, well, Christopher tends to keep an open mind about what to expect when he's in Gin's company.]
inhumanity: (Passiflora alata)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Christopher immediately takes a step back, holding up his hands. (The kris is held to one of his palms by a thumb.)] Gin, while of course I love you dearly as your friend, I'm not attracted to men. Please, try not to be too disappointed.
inhumanity: (Dianthus caryophyllus)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, did you? [The kris seems to disappear up his sleeve.] Why is that?
inhumanity: (Rosa canina)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Christopher's head tilts a little. His mouth curves in what should be a sign of calm. But there is a way that he is watching Gin that has the sharp thoughtlessness of threatened animals, searching for a gap in an attacker's position.]

On the contrary, it is an honour and a delight to serve someone as much of a genius as Master Huey. I could never want to be unbound from him.

[Those first line defences as he watches, waits, measures. Decides what strike might best drive Gin away.]
inhumanity: (Artemisia tridentata)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Christopher's warm chuckle turns to crystals in the cold air.] If you're interested in joining his side so you can betray him, I'll have to warn you, there's a very low success rate for that.
inhumanity: (Passiflora incarnata)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. I'm completely, one hundred percent, absolutely loyal! I'm a thousand and one times more loyal than anyone else in his service.

[It doesn't read like a lie. Hyperbole, maybe, but for the core of the statement, Christopher seems to believe what he says.]
inhumanity: (Schotia brachypetala)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[With the spin of a hand, the weapon seems to disappear to nowhere. Christopher puts his hands in his pockets and watches Gin closely.]

Ah, are you treating our mutual friend's parlour trick as more than 'just a laugh'? How sweet your misguided concerns! Sadly, while the cards Dr Facilier drew weren't wrong, I'm afraid he made some error in his interpretation.
inhumanity: (Schotia brachypetala)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-01 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, he did say that Master Huey treated me like I was only an experiment. But in fact, Master Huey only treats me exactly as what I am. It isn't like I'm an experiment at all!
inhumanity: (Asclepias curassavica)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-03 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
How could I be anything but?

[Amused, almost condescending, Christopher spreads his arms.] If I weren't happy with my existence, why, I'd never be able to survive it. And I'm determined to survive everything.
inhumanity: (Citrus sinensis)

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-05 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Two steps forward. Standing gives an advantage, but this is not a fistfight and Chris doesn't need such silly things as body language to look down on this man. This threat.

(bite tear rend kill, stop him, get rid of him, don't let the pain get worse)

Christopher answers Gin with kindness, as is due to such a friend. He is only gentle now.]

Ah, that's a good start for trying to pry into it. It's easy to call someone out on your own failings, isn't it? Unfortunately, you'll find that your reflection won't serve you well this time.

Neither will your history.

[A smile curls, slowly.]

Is this how it was for that girl you wanted to protect? Truly, I feel some sympathy for her. It must have been very painful. [He presses a hand to his heart, sorrowful, compassionate.] You came along and saw someone that seemed pitiable to you, and out of the kindness still inside you, you became attached. I imagine she grew to care about you as much as you must have cared for her, and you're very smart, so you couldn't have had any trouble at all working out what kind of manipulation you would need to right the wrongs done to her. Clever as you are, you know best.

Of course, an intelligence like that isn't just directed at enemies. I wonder, how much did you hurt that girl because you knew what was best for her? What a sacrifice! Not just your own life devoted to vengeance for her, you even gave her your death. But did you ask her if that was she wanted?

My guess would be 'no.' After all, you are so very clever. You didn't need to! [And when Christopher laughs, it's like he can't get enough of the situation.]

[The laughter lingers in his voice and on his mouth.] Personally, I'm not interested in the suffering you'll force on me in my name. Not that I'd ever weep over your corpse and bear the weight of it, but . . . the mess I'll see when you have to acknowledge to yourself that you care is going to be too embarrassing. [A shake of the head.] I'm afraid I'll have to pass. [Brightly, he adds a kind condolence.] But don't fret about your lack of purpose! You can use Rin instead. I'm sure she can serve your need for self-satisfaction well.

[And then, Christopher straightens up. He glances around, his expression curious and excited. Energy runs through him as he presses a hand to his forehead and searches around.] Now, where are the yeti? You deserve to have good luck with one kind of hunt today!

[Head tilted, smile wide, Christopher watches Gin rise. His curled lips bare his teeth. If he could kill Gin right now, he probably would.]

Then as a friend, allow me to give you a warning: I would do anything to protect Master Huey. Rin is the obvious target, but . . . honestly, it doesn't matter what I have to do. I simply can't allow anyone like you threaten my survival.

[The kris reappears in his hand, dark enough to eat all the reflected sunlight. It can cut through dreams and aspirations, Liam warned.] There should be a mountain range nearby. They live in the caves around there.

She's still only human. And I've been killing those for as long as I can remember.

[Over and over, he flips the blade in his hand, back to the idle gestures that don't mean a thing, or maybe they mean the world. All the violence in him is gone, and he sounds as peaceful and cheerful as it is possible to be with a weapon like that between his fingers.

He chuckles and shakes his head.]
That might seem like the natural thing to do, but sadly, I'll have to steal away the winnings of the scavengers around here. All those Christmas presents didn't buy themselves, you know.

[personal profile] inhumanity 2014-01-05 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, they can be very impressive, but I doubt any of them are a match for some of the humans I've met.

[And lost to.

Fuck you, Vino. Just fuck you.]

Marvellous, then! You'll be able to carry extra ones back for me. [Imposing on Gin just as if nothing has changed is easy. Lies always are.]

[That comment, too, Christopher accepts with a smile. Gin can bait Christopher all he wants; Christopher won't snap.

It's the continuation of a beautiful friendship]
