[ two of the regular transports today are out on an easy meandering path that'll take them across the landscape and, more importantly, set a bit of it on fire if it crosses them at the wrong moment.

what are you prepared to do about it at the varying points when you catch them in the act, exsilium?

innocently building snowmen -- but the field seems patched with unexpected new flashes of ice. and in one case, at least, that's a really lopsided snowman--is one of those snowy heads listing onto a less-than-sturdy shoulder?

b)
today two figures are incautiously holding one of the Thames sharks down from where it's leapt out of a scorched hole in the river's ice. this is clearly taking a lot of effort. what do you do?

Yata drops the snowball and uses his hands to cover his face. Don't look. ]

[Oh my god. Kido blinks a few times, deeply confused.]

Y-Yeah it's me. [Is that a bad thing?!] What happened?

[battering]

You're... a girl.

[ How could he not have noticed she was a cute girl? Oh no, suddenly trying to recall every bit of their first conversation in case he'd said anything worse or done something bad or--

He's leaning against the snowman now, defeated. It probably won't support his weight for long. ]

[She's used to people getting her confused but this is the weirdest reaction she's gotten yet.]

O-Oi, are you okay? It's not that weird is it?! [He's going to fall into the snow if he's not careful. Kido reaches out to try to tug him away before he does.]

[battering]

[ He's startled by her sudden proximity and scurries to the other side of the snowman before she can touch him. At least he's no longer close to falling? ]

I-it's not weird! I'm just... embarrassed. [ a beat, then in a softer tone, ] It was rude.

[concealingeyes]

[She's never had a boy react to her like this. It's almost like Shintaro except less like a loser NEET.]

I don't remember you being rude... [If he's shy around girls maybe she should try to cheer him up a little or... something.] Eh, but it's fine if you treat me like a guy you know. I don't care. I don't want you to feel freaked out around me.

[Even if it is a little flattering.]

... I'm not treating you like a guy.

[ But Kusanagi did tell him to try and just talk to girls. He takes a few deep breaths and finally steps out from behind the snowman, his focus down on the snow. ]

But, um, thanks. F-for suggesting it...

[Kido isn't sure if talking rougher or acting more girly is better so she just settles for being gentle. It's how she treats anxious people (except close friends who get teased).]

...Hey, look here. [She walks closer to the snowman and starts fixing the head.] You did pretty good with it but it still looks kind of lonely huh? Want to make another one with me?

[battering]

Ah... okay.

[ He was secretly glad. And she was being nice and not laughing at him or something, so that was a plus. Yata crouches down and starts scooping up snow into a ball. ]

Is a little brother snowman alright?

[concealingeyes]

Yeah. Let's see... [She starts gathering snow to help him, thinking aloud.] How about an annoying little brother type? They're pretty close though. I think he's the type to be irritating because he's so fond of the older sibling, you know?

[battering]

[ He laughs at the description and nods, ] Right, he looks up to him and stuff so he just wants the older one to pay attention to him and say good things.

[ What is Yata and Mikoto's relationship like for 500, Alex-- ]

Do you... have any brothers?

[concealingeyes]

[She smiles. He seems to be relaxing, so that's good.]

Ah... yeah. Two adopted brothers. Well, we don't always think of each other as siblings since we were friends before we were adopted together- [Especially her and Kano; she's not excited about explaining that bit...] -but we're still family.

They're here, actually. Seto and Kano.

[battering]

[ He listens closely, nodding in understanding until-- ]

Kano? Blond guy that likes to use a lot of faces when he texts? 'cause he was teaching my friend really weird things! [ Huffs. ]

[concealingeyes]

[She snorts.] I'm not surprised. He's a brat and never thinks about anything before he does it. What'd he do this time?

[battering]

He kept talking to her about being in friend-love, and then he started sending me a lot of gross hearts.

[ Casually leaves out the part where he tried to send the hearts back by... typing in more hearts. ]

[concealingeyes]

Tch... He was supposed to stop flirting with girls.

[She's still not surprised but just sighs.] If he annoys you too much I'll just punch him if you want.

[battering]

... can I be the one to do the punching? [ a beat, and he smiles a bit. ] Or we could punch him at the same time.

[concealingeyes]

[She pauses before grinning.] Sure, you have my permission. He's always getting away with everything. Might be good if he learns he can't.

[battering]

Haaa, that's how it is with some siblings, huh. [ He laughs softly, pausing to shift back and look at their process so far. ] He's a little cool though, but don't tell him I said that.
