[Closed]

Date & Time: 1/6, late morning
Location: Galadriel's house
Characters: Korra, Galadriel, Celeborn, Celebrian
Summary: A hiccup in the lesson plan, and meeting her trainer's family
Warnings: Mentions of post trauma and nightmares

With all the moving and exploring that's been happening since most of the Transports vacated the moon base, Korra's completely neglected the medical training she started with Galadriel before. Time to change that, she thinks. At least she isn't the only one who's been distracted by this snowier, unfamiliar Exsilium.

There's things she can actually do in this wintery landscape--a lot more than could on the moon base--but that doesn't mean she can't still learn and help while she's here. With that in mind, Korra sets out for Galadriel's home.

"I thought," Galadriel begins, casually joining Korra on the floor, "given our present circumstances, it might be wise to discuss the treatment of injuries stemming from exposure to cold."

"Precisely. I have no doubt it will be needed before long." Galadriel notices Korra avoiding her gaze, but she won't press. Part of being a healer is knowing when to tend to wounds and when to let them be."

"When I was young," her answer comes slowly, as though she's picking her words with great care, "I was one of several who lead my people across a frozen wasteland. Many perished from the cold and nearly all who survived suffered some form of exposure." Now it's her turn to glance away. It's been thousands of years, but the memory is still painful.

"It was long ago." The change is fleeting- it was a glimpse, just a glimpse, into the depths of a very deep lake; the calm, still surface returns soon enough.

Already, the hints of a smile return with Korra's unspoken question. "Unless we are slain or fade from grief, we will live until the unmaking of our world."

"It was..." She has to pause to do some math in her head, eventually she just gives up. "Some seven thousand years ago, I should think, or close enough to make little difference."

It would be a lie to say that Galadriel wasn't a little amused at that reaction. She has grown to expect it, however. "That, my friend, is the blessing and curse of Elvish memory. We forget nothing."

"Of course." Galadriel is more than glad to let the topic go. The truth is that Korra hit the nail on the head; she was entirely serious when she said that it was both a blessing and a curse.

"Frostbite," she continues, as if there had been no interruption in the lesson, "is best left untreated until the victim is out of the conditions which caused it. As I am certain you can imagine, thawing the tissue only to have it freeze again does far more harm than good."

(ooc: works for me!)

Galadriel almost lets her sleep. She debates on the matter for sometime before ultimately deciding against it; as much as Korra clearly needed rest, she wasn't going to get it from such a fitful sleep.

Cautiously, she reaches down and places her hand on Korra's shoulder.

She might see a couple paintings around the house: her mothers garden, Rivendell and one of Celeborn. Each one done by Celebrían's loving hand. There's another that's not quite finished but covered by a sheet.

Bri's letting her hair loose after spending the day wandering, visiting Fili and Kili and getting a bit of shopping done. When Korra introduces herself, she smiles and inclines her head.

"Well me, Korra. I am Celebrían." She can't help but laugh softly after. "Galadriel is my mother."

Bri tries to contain her laughter, she does, but it's hard. It's always funny to see how people react to learning that little fact. It's soft though, her laugh, and more amused than anything else.

"I assure you, she is my mother. Elves tend to live a very long time." Forever.

"And my father."

She nods towards Celeborn, whose hair was the same silver shade as her own. It's no surprise if Korra noticed something different about them. It's hard not to.

Korra! She's laughing again, made all the better by how quickly she tries to cover her mouth, how horrified she seems. But Celebrian's laugh is light and just genuinely humored rather than cruel, taking only a moment or two to subside.

"Perhaps not automatically but yes. I promise you, I was very clumsy and reckless as a child. I came home with my dresses torn and muddied more often than my parents could stand."

It probably didn't help that she was often running off and playing rough with some of the elflings at times or when her father didn't object to her wearing a dress while horseback riding.

"My parents were Lord and Lady of Eregion and later Lothlorien, so I was often given dresses. So at least I dressed appropriately when I misbehaved. They did learn in time."

And she did make quite a sight when she was behaved, a young silver hair child dressed in the light flowing dresses her mother would choose for her.

"Don't let us intimidate you. Whatever we are, we are not unapproachable."
