IN THE FAR-REACHING FUTURE OF AN ALT-EARTH, MONSTER-BASED ATTACKS ARE CONSIDERED ESPECIALLY RIDICULOUS. IN EXSILIUM, THE DEDICATED TRANSPORTS WHO ENDURE AND INVESTIGATE THESE VICIOUS HAPPENINGS ARE MEMBERS OF AN ELITE SQUAD KNOWN AS EXTRA-UNLUCKY BASTARDS.

There's a bit of green that stands out just enough to be noticeable. Thrall has been doing some investigation of his own. Not realizing that the panicking citizens are linked to the recent attacks, he's busying himself with the evacuation and trying to make sense of the situation.

But there's this lady who insists that her boyfriend is still inside and she's heading straight to tears, and that's-- well, that's just awkward. He places his hand on her arm in a feeble attempt to comfort her. "Listen. I will look for him, but you must get to safety." He hasn't noticed backup arriving in the form of undead cavalry. Judging by the reactions of everyone here, he's going to need it.

He's immensely relieved to see Thrall already talking to the agitated crowd. Nothing about Koltira is suited for diplomacy, especially not among a throng of humans who look like they've had just about enough supernatural threat for one evening.

"World-Shaman," he says, once he's close enough to be within earshot, "What have you learned of this?"

He's trying not to look at the sobbing woman--he's sure she doesn't want to look at him. Better to keep focused on the task on hand.

The distraught civilian takes this as an opportunity to break away. Better to stand out in the street than run back in, right? She sobs brokenly, and it keeps Thrall's attention for a few seconds longer than humanly necessary. He's terribly soft. At last he faces the death knight properly, his expression troubled.

"Koltira. It is good to see you here," he reponds. "From what I gathered, there is a dangerous monster within this building. I wish to search for the source. Your company is welcome, if you are willing."

A dangerous monster. Koltira knows without even asking that Martin is likely at the center of this. He winces to hear the child being referred to in those terms, but it's hardly surprising. Martin's behavior, his appearance--they are monstrous. But he is still a boy, beneath the sickness in his blood. His heart remains. Koltira cannot be swayed from this truth, because to admit otherwise would be also to admit it about himself.

To Thrall, he says, "We will go in together. Allow me to take point, World-Shaman."

Thrall senses something behind Koltira's manner, the way he shifts his gaze. But now is not the time to press. There is clearly something else going on here and he will find it, but at a later time, when there are no lives in danger. Little does he know that it's related...

He can walk in front, but Koltira is dressed to take down an army. The orc has to admit his newfound squishiness. And besides, it's not like he'll let any harm come to Koltira as long as he's alert. "Very well. Lead the way."
