Date & Time: 2/25, shortly after Kakashi's arrival
Location: Kakashi's room (304)
Characters: Uzumaki Naruto (
Summary: Injured Kakashi! Naruto rushes to the rescue! Revelations! Stay tuned!
Warnings: Blood? Language?
[Towels, gauze, antiseptic. The miniature first-aid kit Naruto and Kushina had put together looked a little bare after Naruto stuffed what he needed into a small sack that he slung over his shoulder. He wanted to be prepared for anything. Kakashi being injured was serious. Though Naruto wasn't a medic, it was still better than letting Kakashi go to the hospital here. Naruto still didn't trust the Initiative.
He taps his foot in a mixture of agitation and too much energy as he stares at the wall, mentally making a list of everything he had. When he's confident that he's ready, he shuts his eyes and concentrates. Just a few seconds later, the whole area lights up in his mind as he enters Sage Mode. He can see everything connected to nature, and it only takes a few moments to locate Kakashi's familiar chakra.
Guided by that ability, he rushes out the door. Kushina's not around, but he'll shoot her a text on his device saying: 'had to go out to help Kakashi-sensei'. There's no time to explain fully.
A couple of minutes later, he's knocking on the door.]
HEY! Kakashi-sensei, open up. It's me, y'know!

no subject
He's a little relieved that Naruto made it to his door rather quickly, since he's not sure how much blood loss the wound might actually cause. ]
Yo.
[ Yup. Yo.
Nonchalantly, as he pulls the door wider and nods for Naruto to head on in. Inside, Kakashi's sandals are not-so-neatly situated near the entrance. He's propped Zabuza's sword up against the couch where the vest had been tossed without a chance to actually clean the blood off yet. ]
no subject
At the greeting, the blond shoots his sensei an annoyed look. Leave it to Kakashi to act like that even at a time like this.
He shuffles into the room, noting some blood here and there. Dropping the sack in a nearby chair, he pulls the orange towel he'd draped over his other shoulder off and offers it to his sensei.]
Geez, you don't have to act like it's nothing, y'know. Here. How the hell did you get that?
[He wasn't bleeding like this when he showed up with Gai at the battlefield with Tobi, and Naruto doesn't remember anything about Kakashi getting cut from the memories of his clone that went to support Kakashi's squad.]
no subject
[ Or more specifically, Zabuza's sword.
And really that's all that needs to be said to explain what it was that happened. Kakashi reaches out and takes the towel, but doesn't immediately press it against the wound. Getting fibers stuck inside the wound probably isn't a good idea. He takes it with him to the kitchen, where he turns on the water to wash his hands. ]
I've been through worse.
[ The first time he fought Zabuza had him lying face-down in a field, after all, with similar slashes across his stomach, which he still carries the scars of. Naruto certainly must remember.
And then there was actually dying, but. That's another thing entirely. ]
Did you bring antiseptic?
[ Asked as he scrubs his hands clean. Wouldn't do well to infect the wound. ]
no subject
It also brings up all sorts of memories of that mission long ago when Team 7 wasn't fractured. He can't dwell on it for too long--Kakashi's asking him a question, so he snaps out of it and brings his sack over to the table and dumps it out.]
Yeah. Mom and I got a bunch of this together since we don't have any medics around, y'know.
[He pushes some things around, gauze and tape, and then grabs a bottle of generic antiseptic to hand to Kakashi. Standing next to him at the sink with the bottle in hand, he continues to stare at that wound.]
no subject
Mm, that's good that you're prepared.
[ He turns the water off, towels off his hands, then takes the antiseptic and soaks the towel through. Once he's satisfied that the fibers are drenched enough that they won't just rub off, he rolls up the shirt half-way up his chest, takes a breath, and presses it against the wound with a wince.
He figures it's easier to do this standing up near the sink than it would be sitting down, since that would change the way the wound is shaped. ]
no subject
Naruto winces a bit when he watches Kakashi press that soaked towel to his wound. It reminds him of Kurama's healing chakra, like hot lava and brute force rushing through his veins to heal his injuries.]
They've got hospitals here, y'know, but it's better like this.
[Still staring, but then he finally moves back over to the table and soon returns with some gauze and tape that he lays close to the sink.]
no subject
One of the only constants in his life. ]
No hospitals.
[ Kakashi never much liked them, anyway. Avoided them even back home. ]
I may need you to help me stitch this up.
[ He could do it himself, with help from a bathroom mirror, but since Naruto's right here, it'll be easier, and much more efficient, to have him do it instead. ]
no subject
I've seen Sakura-chan stitch some before...
[It's something at least. Rubbing the back of his head, he also offers:]
And, uh, I've stitched up my clothes before.
[Being an orphan and all, he's had to do it most his life.]
no subject
[ Kakashi nods to the spool of thread with the needle sticking out of it on the counter. ]
You'll need to clean the needle with antiseptic first.
[ Said as he holds the now-bloody towel under the wound and douses himself with the antiseptic to irrigate the wound. It burns like hell and makes Kakashi suck in another sharp breath as his eye closes for a moment. ]
no subject
He finally turns around. The needle feels odd in his hands. He's more accustomed to weapons of course. A needle is for a medic-nin.]
... Eh, I don't have anything for pain. Sorry.
no subject
Don't worry about it.
[ Says lightly, and then he more or less turns towards Naruto, still holding the towel under the wound to catch any blood that might drip down from the actual act of stitching. ]
no subject
The light's good, so he moves closer and crouches a bit, still awkwardly holding the needle. He glances at it and consciously makes his fingers hold the instrument more naturally.
He glances up once more to see that expressionless face before focusing on the wound. It looks worse up close. Not one to hesitate, he starts at the left side, Naruto's left, and pushes the needle through the wound, tugging it on through and continuing.]
no subject
It's probably strange for Naruto, having to stitch up flesh -- especially his sensei's. But their situation, and the lack of a medic-nin, makes circumstances what they are. ]
You're doing well.
[ Manages to say through slightly gritted teeth. At least Naruto's being careful. ]
no subject
He can't help but grin a little at the compliment. Always looking for acknowledgment, even in the littlest things, is a trait that Naruto will always have.]
Not like working on my pants, y'know. But thanks.
[There's a peek of the tip of Naruto's tongue between his lips as he concentrates on his work some more, his brow furrowing as well.]
I don't have the sorta chakra control for medical jutsu, but I guess this works.
no subject
[ Kakashi explains as he watches Naruto more or less finish stitching up the wound. The stitches are a little jagged and uneven, but for what they are, they're just fine. He reaches into his kunai holster and comes up with a kunai, slicing the thread, then slightly blots the wound with the wet towel. And then -- ]
Ah, thanks.
[ A bit awkwardly, maybe, because well, how does one thank someone for just sewing up a huge gash on your body?
He reaches for the roll of gauze so he can dress the wound. ]
no subject
A few moments later he's helping Kakashi with the bandaging, moving in a circle around his sensei. He gets a better look at his stitching job before it's covered up. At least it wasn't too bad, and Kakashi won't bleed to death.
With Kakashi wrapped up nicely, Naruto tapes up the end and then steps away to start putting the first-aid supplies back in the sack.]
You can owe me some ramen or something, eheh. I usually end up paying for yours anyways, y'know.
[A grin thrown over his shoulder. He's relaxed now that Kakashi is bandaged up.]
no subject
[ This time when Kakashi's eye arcs, it's a little more genuine, perhaps a touch sheepish, as he tugs his shirt down over the dressing. The other dressings will have to be changed later on, but for now they'll hold. He cleans up what mess they made, and gingerly deposits the dirty towel in the sink to wash later. ]
Does ramen even exist in this place? Ex...Exsi... [ Okay, he didn't quite catch that. ]
no subject
[Which is horrible, and it shows on his face for a split second. It fades though, replaced by a small grin as Naruto locks his hands behind his head. That doesn't mean he hasn't had ramen though. Kushina's cooked some for him! And if he had to say, he'd tell even Teuchi that Kushina's ramen is the best.]
Mom cooked me some though. Her ramen's really good, y'know.
no subject
He remembers Kushina's cooking. Remembers sitting at the kitchen table and fighting for the last bit of grilled fish with Obito, while Rin tried to separate the two. He always thought Kushina's cooking tasted like what a mother's cooking probably would taste like -- home.
And though Kushina wasn't too much older than him, she was as close to a motherly or older sister figure to Kakashi as he could possibly have at that age. ]
Mm, I remember. She did have very good cooking.
[ Says gently, and heads back to the living room after he's washed his hands off. ]
no subject
But there's nothing like that when Naruto thinks about it. He doesn't hold any sort of grudge at all. All he does when Kakashi says that is grin wider. Kushina's here in Exsilium. He doesn't have to ask Kakashi about her. Naruto wants to find out on his own, he wants to discover what sort of person she is by being right there with her.
He follows Kakashi with the sack of supplies in one hand, dropping it near the couch in the living room.]
Exitstadium. Or something. That's what it is, I think. Uh, it's right on the little communication thing they give to you, y'know.
no subject
[ Kakashi asks as he settles down on the couch, moving the vest out of the way and reaching for the other towel in the process. He then reaches over the side of the couch and grabs Zabuza's sword, lifting it so that he can prop it up between his legs and clean off the blood on the blade. ]
Ah, I guess I didn't notice. [ Truth be told, he hasn't had a chance to really look at the thing. Exitstadium's quite the mouthful, but Kakashi simply files it away in his head for now. ]
Have you spoken to anyone in charge yet as to why we've been brought here against our will, and how we can return?
no subject
Not yet. I've tried too, y'know.
[He turns and growls a bit under his breath, a frown replacing his smile from before.]
They're hiding or something. Guess they probably realize people are pissed to be here. Anyways, it's those machines that get us here. Some guy said they could probably be used to send us back, but he said that there had to be special coordinates and stuff or we'd get sent to the wrong place.
no subject
[ Kakashi says as he wipes off the blood from the blade. He'll have to properly clean it later, so that it doesn't rust. ]
How much information have you been able to gather so far?
no subject
[A grumble. It isn't for lack of trying. That's all he's been doing when he isn't training or with Kushina. He's talked to several people too.]
This guy, Will, spent a lot of time at the library and looked through all the books. Only things he found out were pretty much what we've already been told, y'know.
[Naruto finally moves a chair across the floor to sit opposite of Kakashi. He plops down and slouches in his chair, eyes drifting up to the ceiling.]
Then one day they sent guys to drag us out of bed and take us to some sorta huge place to train.
no subject
He quirks a brow slightly. ]
They dragged you out of bed to train.
[ Repeats very flatly. This sounds almost like a militarized operation, that not only arms incoming individuals with sentient weapons, but also forces them to train. Forces them to become soldiers.
Why else would they be dragged to train? ]
What could you tell about the men who forced you to train?
no subject
I guess they're soldiers. They tested everybody first, and they seemed pretty surprised by what I could do. It was just basic crap though. Running, pushups, situps, basic taijutsu. They said I didn't need any of their training so I could do my own stuff.
[He leans forward in his chair and tilts his head, watching as Kakashi cleans that blood from Zabuza's sword.]
Some people here can't fight, and they worked with them more. Oh, and the soldiers... they have these things called 'guns'.
[Lifting his arms, he mimes like he's holding a rifle. Will had told him about guns, and he didn't like what he heard.]
no subject
What are guns?
no subject
Sorta like a bow and arrow but even more dangerous. Even in other worlds people just dream up new ways to kill and hurt others.
[Full-on scowl on his face and he shakes his head. The cycle of hatred wasn't something unique to the shinobi world obviously. If he could, he'd save every dimension the same way.]
I saw Garu practicing with his during training. He practically blew up a training dummy with it. Doesn't take chakra or anything. Oh, Garu's another guy I met. Where he's from, people live in space, y'know.
no subject
So people can live in space, and soldiers here have powerful projectile weapons here. Called "guns."
[ Just confirming! ]
no subject
Yeah, exactly.
[Some silence for a moment as he checks off a mental list of things he'd learned. That's pretty much it for now. He finally grins though.]
No problem though. We can figure out a way back.
no subject
In the time being... I don't know how wise it is for us to consider fighting someone else's war. That sounds almost like treason to me.
[ Which, if Konoha's standards are anything to go by, punishable by death -- but Kakashi leaves that out for now. ]
Have you tried resisting the soldiers?
no subject
Nothing they said or did could get him to compromise his beliefs and morals. He was the same Naruto as he was back home, and he'd always be that way.]
Not really since the only thing they did was take us to train, and I do that anyways. They haven't hurt anybody either, y'know, so I was mostly just watching and seeing what was up.
[A little bit of hesitation before he continues on.]
Itachi's here too. He asked me what I planned on doing. I told him that I'd keep on doing what I've always done. I'm gonna find a way back home, but while I'm stuck here, I'll help the people that need it, y'know. I'm not just gonna let them tell me who is right and who is wrong. I'll figure it out for myself first.
no subject
Kakashi's not entirely sure when it happened, but he's discovered that he trusts Naruto's judgment unconditionally. Believes in him in a way he hasn't dared to believe in anyone in many years.
And he knows that if anyone can find a way out of this place, it would be Naruto.
He nods, setting aside Zabuza's sword. ]
I know you'll do what's right. And we'll find a way home.
no subject
Yeah, 'course we will. I already talked to a few people and stuff. Just gotta figure out those machines and all. With you here it'll be even easier, y'know.
Psh, it'll be easier than a D-Rank mission.
no subject
Saa... I don't know about D-rank, but I doubt anything can stop you.
no subject
Yeah! I'm even learning how to stitch up wounds!
