Date & Time: Tonight
Location: Room 107
Characters: Shepard and Kaidan
Summary: Two old people go on a date. Sort of.
Warnings: See above.
[It's been a pretty good few weeks, ever since her and Kaidan had gotten over being idiots. A smile worms its way onto her face for maybe the millionth time that day. Shepard can't honestly remember the last time she was so happy, so completely content with her life. Even if they're stuck in Exsilium, their galaxy fighting for the chance to live, this place in its own kind of war, she's happy.
And it's because of him, really. Which in itself, was a little stupid. Shepard likes that, though. She likes their brand of stupidity and having him and finally feeling real. That's exactly what Kaidan does to her. Makes her feel real and human and everything that she hasn't felt since she was a kid.
So when he asks her to come meet him outside of the apartment, she's curious and thrilled and tries to keep her excitement to a minimum. She's acted enough like a lovesick teenager recently.] Hey there, Major.

She deserved a break. Something that was just nice, pleasant, instead of desperate and fraught with emotion.] Hey yourself, Commander. You ready?

[But that just means it's an all new adventure.]

There's a look of satisfaction on her face at the way his hand tightens and his words. She knows just how to push his buttons, and she enjoys doing that so much.] I'm going to hold you to that, Kaidan. [She cocks an eyebrow at the door.] The surprise is the apartment?

[The look he gives her is that mix of exasperation, amusement, and fondness that he so often directs at her] I'll bet. [He opens the door for her] The surprise is in the apartment.
[He keeps a hold of her hand, but stands to the side so she can see what he's done. The table is set, with nice plates, wineglasses, candles, the works. There are even flowers in a small vase in the middle of it. On the bench in the kitchen is a variety of meal preparation things, and also what looks to be two starters ready to go. He literally just finished sorting those out before he went down to get her.]
Surprise. [He says it softly, eyes on her face.] I, uh - I wanted to take you somewhere nice. You know, like a proper date. But then I realised that the nicest place in this city is the apartments, so I - I'm making dinner for you instead.

I think I like these kinds of surprises. [She grins, wrinkling her nose.] What are you talking about? I think the rats give some of those places a little something extra.
[She pauses and moves closer to him, pressing a soft kiss to his mouth.] You're really squishy inside.

So are you. [And on that note, he leads her to her chair]

She'll never stop wanting this man.] Yeah, don't let anyone else know that secret.
[What a gentleman. She takes the seat, watching him.]

[She pauses briefly.] I promise to not make fun of you if it's really that awful. [But she knows it won't be, because it's not like anyone has ever personally cooked her a meal since... Since her mom.]
