Summary: Two old people go on a date. Sort of.

[It's been a pretty good few weeks, ever since her and Kaidan had gotten over being idiots. A smile worms its way onto her face for maybe the millionth time that day. Shepard can't honestly remember the last time she was so happy, so completely content with her life. Even if they're stuck in Exsilium, their galaxy fighting for the chance to live, this place in its own kind of war, she's happy.

And it's because of him, really. Which in itself, was a little stupid. Shepard likes that, though. She likes their brand of stupidity and having him and finally feeling real. That's exactly what Kaidan does to her. Makes her feel real and human and everything that she hasn't felt since she was a kid.

So when he asks her to come meet him outside of the apartment, she's curious and thrilled and tries to keep her excitement to a minimum. She's acted enough like a lovesick teenager recently.] Hey there, Major.

[He lets out a breath he hadn't been aware of holding, tugging her inside properly and letting the door shut behind them] Good. I'm glad. [He's still smiling at her comment when she leans in to kiss him. He returns it, long and slow and sweet with the hints of that smile still at the corners of his mouth]

So are you. [And on that note, he leads her to her chair]

[She likes making him smile like that and wishes with everything that they weren't having to play catch up in another universe when they should have done this years ago. She doesn't hesitate to return the kiss with the same, slow-burning intensity he's giving her.

She'll never stop wanting this man.] Yeah, don't let anyone else know that secret.

[What a gentleman. She takes the seat, watching him.]

I'll keep it between us, don't worry. [He walks to the bench and gets the starters, setting one in front of her before taking a seat himself. He pauses, looking a tad awkward.] It's, uh - it's been a while since I had the opportunity to cook like this. So don't be surprised if it's not actually restaurant quality.

I do like having things just between us. [Which she, somehow, against all odds, makes sound incredibly sexual. Because this is Shepard. It wouldn't be a conversation if she didn't.] You make it sound like I go to a restaurant on a regular basis.

[She pauses briefly.] I promise to not make fun of you if it's really that awful. [But she knows it won't be, because it's not like anyone has ever personally cooked her a meal since... Since her mom.]
