[OPEN] DEFENSE MEETING

Date & Time: Five days after the completion of the bombing event. Starting early morning.
Location: Whatever area is decently clear of debris.
Characters: Anyone, whether it was previously arranged with Fiona, someone else did the convincing, or they just happen to be around the cleared area at the right time.
Summary: First “Defense” Group Meeting. Some chatting, some sparring, a little showing off, and everything in between.
Warnings: Violence and swearing, I guarantee it.


[When most have gathered Fiona will find some small piles of debris to climb on so she can at least be eye level with everyone else. It’s not the biggest of groups but it will hardly do if no one can see whoever is speaking. She’ll tap her staff to get some attention.]

Thank you all for coming and taking an interest. I’m Fiona, the one who spoke on the network before. Sorry there was a delay but I appreciate everyone coming nonetheless. [Detecting a little anger here…]

If what’s happened this past week has proved anything, it’s proved we need to work together and defend ourselves and each other. Those bastards aren’t going to help us no matter what lies they feed us. They can’t defend us, they have proven that again and again. They say they’re glad we survived, but how many of us didn’t make it through this last endeavor? We’re dealing with complete fools and we have only ourselves to rely on. So we need to find a way to help each other. You don’t have to agree with all of my opinions, but at least stay long enough to try and see if this will work.

[She’ll take a deep breath] This is only our first meeting, none of us really know each other or what each other is capable of. If we actually intend to defend each other then that is the first thing we need to fix. Use this meeting time to get to know the person next to you and what they’re capable of. And if you can fight then show everyone else what you’ve got. [She’ll hold up her hand and produce a tiny ball of fire, whirl it around a moment and wink it out as quickly as she made it.] Lets not be caught off-guard by those bastards again.

[And then she'll start hopping off the debris. Ah, wait. Almost forgot something.] Thank you.


[OOC: Behold the tiny organization abilities. All right so, here’s how I’m thinking this can roll. We’ve got a little fighting and a little chatting for threads. If conversation leads to battle you are welcome to keep it to the talking thread, just maybe tack it into the subject line “Chat -> Fighting” or hop to the Battle thread! Feel free to jump in as you please, opened, closed, whatever. This is a fantastic chance for CR, spoil it rotten! And thanks for being patient with me despite the OOC delays. :)

Edit: Okay so. People are on hiatus and stuff and that's okay. If your character would happen to be here, but you just can't toss them in, try putting down a placeholder reply or something. I am gonna be doing a headcount from the tags list when this wraps up so leader picking later on is easier to handle. :)]

[As with Takegami, it's the disinterested air that catches his attention, more than staying to the shadows. After he has spoken to a few others and after he sees Cailan depart, he approaches, his armor and the daggers sheathed at his back with the hilts rising above his shoulders glaringly obvious.]

[He takes in the armor and daggers, shifting slightly to keep both bolt pistol and sword in view as he nods in something like thought, or greeting.]

It'll take some time before those things can be done. And knowing how to fight, does not mean one knows how to defend.

[He nods, coming to a stop within a reasonable speaking distance and not crowding.]

We were lucky they didn't find their way into those tunnels with the gas at their disposal. All of the fighting skill in the world wouldn't have protected most of us from that.

Are you a new arrival, or have you been here for a time?

[He'll shift just enough to allow that and nod.]

Or found the source of air into the tunnels to put the gas canisters into. That is something we could not have escaped.

I don't like that we were driven to take shelter in a place of our captors' choosing. I believe one of the things we should focus on is finding terrain we're capable of controlling ourselves, if such a thing is possible.

I'm also new. [He tips his head curiously.] You came from a place like this?

If it is possible, I agree. Perhaps there are another set of tunnels, or a building still inhabitable for our use. With the proper abilities...[He's going to trail off for a bit and look around him, thinking, before nodding.]

A galaxy at war to protect Mankind is not a pleasant place. This is kinder in many regards to many of the worlds I have visited.

Perhaps. Or over time we can construct a shelter. With this clean up there are plenty of surplus materials up for grabs. [He used to be a thief by profession. He's not opposed to going back to his roots for a good reason.]

Explain that term, please? Galaxy. I'm not familiar with the concept.

Multiple safehouses would be better. Less chance of being discovered, and as you said we have more then enough supplies. [And this is his profession, really. Setting up safehouses for operatives and organizing an entire network.]

Galaxy? [He's just going to assume you're from some backwater world and nod.] The various planets out in the stars, the millions of worlds that humanity has inhabited.

That's a good strategy, yes. It also ensures that if one is compromised, all don't go down. I'm even thinking once we reach a certain mass with what we're trying to do, we'd be better off in independent cells. Can't give up what you don't know. [He had learned that much on the back streets of Val Royeaux.]

I'm going to take your word on that one. [Good call. They haven't figured out they live on a planet back home, much less concerned themselves with the nature of stars.] Meaning you've seen things like this on a large scale?

Multiple buildings, more then we would have cells for better safety. If word were to, somehow leak back to the others, it is better to move quickly and not worry about supplies in an otherwise occupied place. [Inquisitor training 101, how to run an organization larger then can fit in your guncutter.]

It is quite the sight, that I will say. [But that is all he's mentioning about worlds and other planets. So that instead just gets a nod.] Indeed, many planets are war torn, difficult to live on. Few are, better then this, I'm very familiar with such conditions.

It sounds as though you have skills and knowledge that would be invaluable to a movement like Fiona wants to get off the ground. Do you think you're interested?

[It's strange to him, having gone from trying to build support for an unpopular group in Ferelden to much the same in this place without ever having to think twice. There's enough of the man he used to be left within him to scoff quietly at the irony.]

[It takes him a few moments to think that through. It was a good idea, at least for a time, wasn't it? And it's not as if he's not used to such tasks, and it'd be easy enough to slip away if it became to bad.]

Perhaps, if things proceed well enough on both sides of this conflict. And others do not object. [NOT LIKE HE'S BEEN MAKING A GOOD IMPRESSION HERE.]
