[OPEN] DEFENSE MEETING

[uncalled_for]

Date & Time: Five days after the completion of the bombing event. Starting early morning.
Location: Whatever area is decently clear of debris.
Characters: Anyone, whether it was previously arranged with Fiona, someone else did the convincing, or they just happen to be around the cleared area at the right time.
Summary: First “Defense” Group Meeting. Some chatting, some sparring, a little showing off, and everything in between.
Warnings: Violence and swearing, I guarantee it.


[When most have gathered Fiona will find some small piles of debris to climb on so she can at least be eye level with everyone else. It’s not the biggest of groups but it will hardly do if no one can see whoever is speaking. She’ll tap her staff to get some attention.]

Thank you all for coming and taking an interest. I’m Fiona, the one who spoke on the network before. Sorry there was a delay but I appreciate everyone coming nonetheless. [Detecting a little anger here…]

If what’s happened this past week has proved anything, it’s proved we need to work together and defend ourselves and each other. Those bastards aren’t going to help us no matter what lies they feed us. They can’t defend us, they have proven that again and again. They say they’re glad we survived, but how many of us didn’t make it through this last endeavor? We’re dealing with complete fools and we have only ourselves to rely on. So we need to find a way to help each other. You don’t have to agree with all of my opinions, but at least stay long enough to try and see if this will work.

[She’ll take a deep breath] This is only our first meeting, none of us really know each other or what each other is capable of. If we actually intend to defend each other then that is the first thing we need to fix. Use this meeting time to get to know the person next to you and what they’re capable of. And if you can fight then show everyone else what you’ve got. [She’ll hold up her hand and produce a tiny ball of fire, whirl it around a moment and wink it out as quickly as she made it.] Lets not be caught off-guard by those bastards again.

[And then she'll start hopping off the debris. Ah, wait. Almost forgot something.] Thank you.

Edit: Okay so. People are on hiatus and stuff and that's okay. If your character would happen to be here, but you just can't toss them in, try putting down a placeholder reply or something. Would the UE be our enemy if the Initiative hadn't drafted us? You're trusting that we haven't been lied to about how bad the UE is.

... Did you miss the part where they tried to kill us all by raining bombs on our heads?

Believe me, I was here. [Ok, he chuckles at that.] But we wouldn't have been bombed if we had never been brought here. If the UE had transported us here instead we wouldn't have been, either. I guess it's just a matter of perspective. I'm not willing to take their word point blank.

At least the Initiative wants us here. Thus they may be more willing to work with us, not against us.

It'd be strange if they didn't want us here since they brought us. They're going to have to try harder if they want to work with us. I need a blueprint with set goals to go for. Not the vague shit they're giving us.

What sort of specifics would you require?

What the results of the missions are supposed to be, for starters.

Are you fine with the information they've given us so far?

[bratworth]

Fine as in do I consider it accurate, or do I consider it adequate? As for the former, I personally think that even the Initiative are not entirely sure what they are doing, but I have not yet gone on any of these missions. For whether it is adequate or not... I don't think they're telling us everything, no.

That's the least amount of information I need before I do anything for them that involves a mission.

What is? To be told everything?

What I'm doing, what the result should be, and how it's supposed to help. [The why hadn't much mattered to him for years, and only now did the how matter much either. The pitfalls, or are those rewards(?), of entering the upper ranks.]

And if the Initiative don't know that much themselves? What is their alternative - to do nothing?

They're jumping through time and changing past events. If they don't know those basics, then yeah, doing nothing is better than possibly wiping themselves out through unknown consequences. It's not some random trip to the store to get a pint of milk.

What if they decided the risk was worth the possible consequences?

There's no 'what if's about this. They already have. As long as they don't kill me in the process, they can have at it. Better yet, send me home and they can do whatever they want.

[bratworth]

You think that they know how to send people home?

[strategic_guile]

[Flatly] They better.

[bratworth]

Let's say that they don't. What then?

There are scientists among the Transports. We'll figure it out ourselves.

[bratworth]

There's people who've purportedly been here for nine months or so. Why wouldn't they have figured it out already?

[strategic_guile]

Do you think it only takes a few months to understand a technology you've never seen before and then discover something new and amazing that the people who created the technology haven't done before?

[Crosses his arms and sighs]

It might be possible with all of these people from different worlds, but who's the say Transports have access to that machinery in the first place? Besides, science doesn't usually work that way. It can take years just to come up with prescription medications and you're talking about sending people through time and space being figured out in nine months.

[bratworth]

So you're saying that such a solution might take... years, is that correct?

[strategic_guile]

Unfortunately, I am. Assuming the Initiative doesn't know how or refuses to tell us.

[bratworth]

I doubt that would tell us, even if they do know. They need us for now, until this war's won. [ If it can be won. ]
