[OPEN] DEFENSE MEETING

Date & Time: Five days after the completion of the bombing event. Starting early morning.
Location: Whatever area is decently clear of debris.
Characters: Anyone, whether it was previously arranged with Fiona, someone else did the convincing, or they just happen to be around the cleared area at the right time.
Summary: First “Defense” Group Meeting. Some chatting, some sparring, a little showing off, and everything in between.
Warnings: Violence and swearing, I guarantee it.


[When most have gathered Fiona will find some small piles of debris to climb on so she can at least be eye level with everyone else. It’s not the biggest of groups but it will hardly do if no one can see whoever is speaking. She’ll tap her staff to get some attention.]

Thank you all for coming and taking an interest. I’m Fiona, the one who spoke on the network before. Sorry there was a delay but I appreciate everyone coming nonetheless. [Detecting a little anger here…]

If what’s happened this past week has proved anything, it’s proved we need to work together and defend ourselves and each other. Those bastards aren’t going to help us no matter what lies they feed us. They can’t defend us, they have proven that again and again. They say they’re glad we survived, but how many of us didn’t make it through this last endeavor? We’re dealing with complete fools and we have only ourselves to rely on. So we need to find a way to help each other. You don’t have to agree with all of my opinions, but at least stay long enough to try and see if this will work.

[She’ll take a deep breath] This is only our first meeting, none of us really know each other or what each other is capable of. If we actually intend to defend each other then that is the first thing we need to fix. Use this meeting time to get to know the person next to you and what they’re capable of. And if you can fight then show everyone else what you’ve got. [She’ll hold up her hand and produce a tiny ball of fire, whirl it around a moment and wink it out as quickly as she made it.] Lets not be caught off-guard by those bastards again.

[And then she'll start hopping off the debris. Ah, wait. Almost forgot something.] Thank you.

Anora's been observing the crowd, blue eyes calm, cool, and calculating. She has a presence, no doubt, and despite being on edge thanks to recent personal events, she's managing to look collected and in her element.

She knows this game, she's played it well, and despite having not been the most sociable during her time in Exsilium, in this scenario she is more than happy to make herself approachable and hold a conversation with whoever approaches her.]

[He noticed her arrival and made a personal note to make his way around to her after everyone has had some time to mingle. When he approaches, he bows slightly from the waist.]

[Her smile is practiced and polished to look genuine enough, and in truth, Duncan was perhaps one of the few people from home who does not set her on edge despite having an inkling that he had a part in telling Cailan about his death.

She inclines her head in response.]

While the speech could admittedly have used some...touching up, I agree.

I had attempted to call for a meeting similar to this some months ago and it was met with little reception, I am pleased to see that we are finally making an attempt to organize, that there are others to see that the leadership offered by the Initiative has been questionable.

[She looks out to the crowd.]

Fiona is correct. We are all in this situation together, so it is time that we do come together, for our own sake.

Yes, Fiona can be rather blunt. [A reason that he has agreed to work with her, to try to smooth over the rough edges.]

Perhaps people are more dissatisfied with conditions now than they were at the time. Often it takes ideas time to build momentum.

It's my belief that as Thedosians we will need to present a united front to push this momentum further, regardless of any personal differences.

[He smiles slightly and deflects the thrust of that statement onto himself, although the words are for her as well.]

Fiona and I can often rub one another the wrong way. Most will never see it.

[She makes a hum of acknowledgement as he talks, clasping her hands together in front of her as she stands tall, continuing to watch the crowd before looking back at him upon the mention of 'personal differences'.

Her eyes don't narrow, but she does feel that jab despite him deflecting it towards himself.]

Ah yes, Alistair told me she knew you.

I assure you, I know when to place my personal differences aside for the sake of unity. Such is the way of politics, after all, or so we lead ourselves to believe.

[Sometimes bias does make its way to squash the unity, but it's usually done subtly. Unless you're the Warden pitching for your BFF to take the throne over the traitor Loghain's daughter, then it's just stupidly obvious.]

I do wish certain personal differences hadn't been aired out so publicly, but perhaps the general populace of Transports will overlook what had happened.

It's good that we're sharing information among ourselves.

[In this he's truthful. He believes that most secrets from home will only serve to harm them, not help them now.]

Over the next few months we may all be tested on how successfully we navigate the politics of this new environment, from within and without.

That was an unfortunate incident. Much like the lancing of a boil, while unpleasant and messy, it seems to have put things on a track toward the mend.

[If he notices any particular chill in her tone, he's careful to keep his own pleasant and neutral.]
