Two Teen Demi-Gods what could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Date & Time: March 1; afternoon
Location: a few blocks from the apartments
Characters: Leo Valdez [personal profile] morsecodes & Jason Grace [personal profile] notthatjason
Summary: Jason decides to implement plan "find out about the masked chip guys", Leo follows his fearless leader, and it all goes down hill from there. :|
Warnings: Action and possible injuries and blood?

Jason found it difficult to sit still. He realized this was going to be difficult but he had greatly underestimated just how many of these guys there were. He stayed pressed against the wall of the building, his hand resting on the sword at his hip and waiting. This was absurd. Just how many of these masked guys were there? He had thought a simple reconnaissance mission would be easy to pull off, even with a talkative person like Leo, but he was wrong. He had underestimated their numbers and abilities and now it was taking all of his skill and Leo's to just go unseen and get back unchipped.

It would have been easier if he had left Leo back at the apartment, but he knew if anyone could figure out this impossible tech it would be Hephaestus's son. Plus, if Leo found out Jason had gone off on a mission without him he would have been pretty ticked. Jason needed Leo, though now he was wondering if either of them would make it back without a chip as a parting gift.

"Okay. The patrol is moving. We should be able to make it to the next building if we move in the next ten seconds."

Leo would have been very unhappy if Jason had gone off without him. They were a team, so they needed to stick together. And...well, Jason was one of the first people since his mom that he honestly cared about. They were best friends. Sticking together was a must.

Needless to say, the dark haired male was right behind Jason, gripping on to a hammer just like his usual one, his other hand in his pocket, fiddling with gears.

"You got it, dude." No pun intended, it just worked that way. But before the ten seconds were up, something clicked in his mind and he pulled out the gears and such he had been fiddling with.

"Hey, want a distraction?" He hissed, grinning as he realized what he had made without meaning to. It was simple, but it would do it's job as a distraction.

Leo cheered inwardly as the distraction worked. Or, at least, he thought it worked. It looked like they were going to make it to the next hiding spot when he sensed it, and he had just enough time to duck before taser prongs shot over his head. He didn't have time to warn Jason, though. He watched as Jason dropped, but honestly, Jason was Zeus' son. It had to be an act, right?

But the distraction of worrying about Jason gave the masked men enough time to get closer, but not only that, reload that taser. And Leo knew for a fact he wasn't resist like Jason was.

"So, Fearless Leader, what now?" He was glad Jason was back on his feet, and he held his own hammer up, ready to use it if he had to, but he hoped Jason had a plan.

woooow tl;dr

"Fight our way out. Great. Just what I was hoping." Leo whined, but he stood his ground, gripping his hammer tighter as the group drew closer. He was about to do something when he saw just what Jason's attack did, so his first instinct kicked in: he ran.

But this wasn't just to get away. He had a few thoughts in mind when he took to this action. First off, he would pull a few of the guys away from Jason, giving his friend less to deal with and more room to fight. Secondly, it gave him more room to heat things up. Literally.

He was glad to see that at least two of the guys followed after him. It was as he ran that he got a brilliant idea, digging into his toolbelt and pulling out a container of oil. He could have kissed that belt if he hadn't been in such a rush. He unscrewed the top as he backed up against a wall, watching the men hesitantly. They seemed to pause to see what he would do, but when he finally threw the bottle at them, getting the oil on and everywhere around them, they seemed unfazed, which was their mistake. At least, Leo thought it would be their mistake. A second later, he snapped. It only took a spark, but the flames that danced around his fingers caught to the oil instantly, shooting towards the masked men.

"Score!" Leo shouted as he watched the men engulfed in flames, only-- he realized a moment later, it wasn't doing anything to them. What the--!?

"You don't have to tell me twice!" The statement was made as Leo dodged his way through the flames, using the flames as an advantage now. Even if the masked men weren't hurt by them, they were slowed down, and they didn't except that Leo could go right through the flames without getting hurt.

With a twist of his wrist, he made them flames grow, but it didn't do much to stop the men. He just needed them to slow while he rushed back to Jason, and he did that as fast as possible.

But when he got back to Jason, he gulped, cursing in Greek under his breath. "You better have an idea, Jason, 'cause I'm out of them." The masked men that were following him were getting closer and closer to corning them once again, so he felt pretty screwed.

Leo knew this trick well, especially after the quest the two of them went on. But that didn't mean Leo liked it. It was handy, and yeah, it would probably be awesome if they weren't always about to die when Jason used it.

When they were safely on the roof, though, Leo stumbled away from Jason, glad to have his feet back on something solid. Yeah, Festus flew, but being in the air on a dragon compared to clinging to his best friend? The dragon was a lot less awkward.

"Yeah, no. What do you say we ditch these guys and get back to our room?"

Leo is very grateful Jason was willing to save him. Like, really grateful. He may not have been crazy about the superman thing, but he'd take that any day over nonflammable, masked guys.

"After you?" He follows Jason, but at the edge of the roof, he pauses, looking from his side to where Jason had landed.

"Man, you better be glad heights don't scare me like my sibs." He took a few steps back, then ran forward, clearing the leap with no trouble. Only problem was he started to slip backwards because of the slope. In a panic, he summoned flames at his feet to push him forward, giving him enough momentum to get higher up and stay there.

"Seeing as I like my men crispy, heights win." Making a face at Jason now, but he stumbled his way after the guy. He came to the access door and followed his friend in, closing it behind him and throwing some spikes he got out of his belt on the stairs behind him. Just in case those guys decided to follow them in here, the spikes would hopefully trip them up if nothing else.

"So, Superman, how do we get out of this joint now?"

"Good plan." Leo nodded, mock saluting his friend. As for the nickname, he thought it was quite clever and fitting. I mean, Jason could fly. When it came to that, Superman was the perfect name.

He followed Jason, copying him and acting like he wasn't out of place, which....well, it wasn't hard for him to act it, it was just looking like be belonged there that wasn't easy. He was not only wearing his tool belt, but he was covered in oil and burnt markings. Definitely not the typical office setting attire.

Leo got a few looks, but most people didn't really seem to notice them on their way through the building, thank goodness. But then he caught sight of the Masked.

"Holy mother-- How the heck are we supposed to get out, then?" But he was scanning the area already, trying to find something. It was then that he spotted a red pull box on the wall. A grin appeared on his face, and he nudged Jason, before causally making his way to the wall and leaning against it.

The fire alarm was right there. If they set it off, maybe it'd set off a mass exodus and they could slip out among the workers and go unnoticed. And if they needed a real fire? Well, he had that covered.

Jason, you just made this kid's day. Leo's grin got even more mischievous. He moved to pull the alarm, but then stopped, getting another idea. So he cupped his hands behind his back, summoning fire, but cutting it out so it made more smoke than flames.

Naturally the smoke kept rising, so by the time he actually pulled the alarm, people had started to notice the smoke.

So the alarm pulled? Chaos ensued. Leo couldn't help but laugh at the chaos. It was really great, watching people freak out and panic, rushing towards the doors. Just another great prank, Leo-style.

"Yes sir." Leo gave Jason a mock salute, then slipped into the crowd of people. It honestly went better than he could have hoped. There were too many people rushing out for the Masked to see him or Jason among them, and it wasn't long before he was far enough away from them that he was able to get out of the crowds and rush off towards their unit.

Of course, he took to the shadows, keeping hidden.

The only problem was once he got back to the unit, there were Masked guarding the entrance of it. Naturally. So he hid near by, hoping to see a sign of Jason soon.

It Leo hadn't been on high alert and known Jason was coming, he probably would have jumped. But since he was, he turned to his friend and nodded, completely focused on what was at hand.

"Well, that didn't exactly work last time. We gotta distract them, or something." He pause, tapping his chin with his finger, his other hand twitching. Even focused like this, he had to keep his hands busy.

There had to be a way to get these guys to walk away, at least for a little bit.

Jason said the magic words. Leo's eyes lit up at the words 'blew something up', a mischievous grin appeared on his face.

"Jason, my friend, you are only lucky guy, because blowing things up is becoming a specialty of mine." Once upon a time, he used to be afraid to use his fire, but when he stopped fighting it and began using it as a tool for good, well...it was awesome.

"Okay, ideas. Gas lines need to be avoided. Don't want anything too bad, so that leaves cars or something I whip up fast. Thoughts?"

Leo's gaze followed where Jason pointed, and he couldn't help but grin. It was perfect. The car rested past where they were hidden, so he could light it without crossing paths with the Masked. And for the Masked guys to check it out, they would have to walk past them, giving him and Jason to slip around and into the building. Perfect.

So with a grin, he slips away from their hiding spot and over to the car, carefully eying the Masked men, making sure they weren't looking his way. Once at the car, he pulled out some tools from his toolbelt, and got to work. He'd have to loose some things, and maybe draw out some fuel. Nothing too hard.

Once he was satisfied, he pulled out another bottle of oil, pouring some on the ground as he snuck back to where Jason waited.

"Ready, dude?"

With a mischievous grin, flames danced around Leo's fingers, catching on the oil trail, following it back to the truck, and--

The explosion was exactly as planned. Leo had ducked, pulling Jason down as well, as it happened, and the Masked were certainly curious. It was all a game of waiting and timing the sneaking right. Once the Masked were around the truck, Leo crept from his spot, rather silent. He waved for Jason to come on, continuing his way, hoping they'd make it inside in time.

Leo didn't stop, not even once they got inside. He kept going, just like Jason said. He wasn't the fastest one out there, but he kept it going, until they were safely in their Unit.

Then? Then he navigated around the mess he had made, collapsing into the closest chair.

"Dude--- dude. Can we just not leave ever again? I don't like those guys."

"Honestly, dude? I could just stay in here forever and be okay with it." Leo mumbled, but then gave a shrug. "But you're a people person, unlike me."

But he supposed even he had to leave some time or another. He'd be content in the room as long as necessary, because he had things to do, but it would be nice to leave when he wanted. Hopefully....hopefully those guys would get lost soon.
