EVENT: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS

Summary: The Transports return from their mission to find the island crawling with monsters.
Warnings: Violence, possibly injuries (notify a mod if there's cause to add a particular warning!)

The Transports return from their mission to Medieval Russia, but the Initiative Hold is eerily deserted. Normally, their would be a number of Initiative personnel prepared to meet the Transports at the end of their mission for debriefing.

Instead, there is only silence.

That is, until a distant thumping sound can be heard. It is growing closer, and suddenly the beast is bursting into the room. It lets out a roar and charges. Within minutes, it is easily defeated, but damage has already been done -- it collided with the Transporter machine, which is now making a low fizzling sound and lets off a couple sparks. The commotion is enough to draw the attention of the few remaining Initiative personnel who still inhabit the Hold, who arrive immediately afterwards. They are able to tell the Transports two things: that the machine is broken and currently unable to sent anyone back in time, and that the island has been overrun with aggressive, mutated beasts sent by the United Earth. They have been under siege for months, with the island's population reduced to a mere fraction of what it had once been.

[ So long as he had the basic image of the symbol he should be fine! ]

He might have his partner, Happy. He's an Exceed... and he's sometimes annoying.

Oh, an Exceed is... well they look like cats. With wings. And they talk. There are two Exceeds in our team; Happy is blue, and Charle, is white. Charle is Wendy's partner. [ She'll get to Wendy in a moment, she wants to go in order. ]

[blue cat? blue cat with wings? talking blue cat with wings?

Jericho looks about...exactly as he ought to, hearing something like that said in earnest. he blinks, nodding...slightly. go on...]

[ Lucy giggles at the look on Jericho's face. ]

I think I had that same reaction when I first met him. So... next is Gray. He's an ice make mage - Natsu, I forgot to mention, uses fire magic. [ Should she mention Gray's habit of stripping? ... Nah. ]

He has black hair and eyes - you might not see his mark though, because he has it over his chest, here. [ She rests her hand over the right side of her chest. ]

Then, there's Erza...

[magic, too? sounds like this girl's from a pretty colorful world! and Jericho thought his was full of pretty interesting characters...(jeez, the closest he has to talking cats, he thinks, is Beast Boy!)

he listens, rapt, very interested to learn more. he can almost picture them, though with his own impressions and memories tied to them (Natsu as Robin, for one...)]

She's one of the strongest fighters in Fairy Tail. [ No need to mention that her team was made up of all of the strongest fighters of Fairy Tail, making them the strongest team - right? That's too much like bragging. ]

She has brown eyes and red hair, and you'll always see her wearing armor. Wendy is much younger - she has blue hair and - she's kind of shy, but she's really sweet.

[Fairy Tail, huh...

sounds a lot like fairy tale to him, and with that...these friends of hers are starting to take on more storybook looks in his mind's eye. go fig – Gray with more clothes on. and hey, Erza's armor getting more elaborate.

his attentive smile breaks as a sudden thought strikes him. he blinks, doing a quick glance around the area before stopping, lightly tapping Lucy on the arm for her attention. rocking back on his heel, he makes a follow me gesture as he turns, trotting back toward the edge of the block they just passed. they're not far from the apartments after all, so...!

he heads that way, slowing down at the exterior stairwell and turns, pointing upward and nodding before heading up.]

[ Lucy wants to look into your head and see these renditions of her friends. Fffh. Ahem. As she's tapped on the arm, she tilts her head curiously. ]

Hmm? What is it?

[ She turns as he motions to her, and scampers along after him, puzzled at his actions. ]

Hold on, where are we going? [ Up? She follows where he points, nods slowly and trots on after him, frowning. Where we goooooooooin'? ]

[he shoots her a reassuring grin over his shoulder once he hops up to a turn in the stairs, still climbing until he reaches the floor his room is on.

a quick trot down the hall gets him to the door as he fishes out his card from his belt, turning and holding up his finger and closing an eye with a kind of one moment! expression. he ducks in, letting the door creak open as it wished while he bustles inside to ferret around.

he's not long in returning, pushing the door closed with the back of his foot as he holds up what he's acquired:

notebook! makes life easier. he grins, though sheepishly now, as he lifts up the pencil in one more one moment! manner before quickly scrawling.

er, as quickly as he can; his ears turn a little red as he realizes how long it's taking him. maybe he's just too chatty?

well, either way, he turns the book around for her to read at last, letting out a relieved exhale in a puff.]

This is where everyone stays for the time being. You should probably have a room here too...and your friends too if they're here as well.
So if we can't find them soon it could just mean waiting here to see them!

[ Oh! Brilliant! Lucy grins when he steps out with the notebook - and apparently she doesn't notice or mind that he takes so long writing. Leaning over inquisitively to peer at what's written, she hms. ]

Ah! I was wondering - at least it's safer in this place to wait than out there with those things. Is there a registry that shows where everyone is here? Like they have at hotels? [ That would be even easier way to find out if her friends were here. ]

I guess something like that would be too convenient huh?

[he gets that wide-eyed, attentive stare as she asks, soon glancing aside and scratching at his cheek, thinking on it. registry...?

looking back, he lifts both arms in a emphasized shrug, shaking his head, smiling sympathetically. too convenient is probably right...

ah, but–

he tucks the notebook under his arm, puts the pen in his mouth a moment as he holds up his key card, pointing at it, then her. you have one, right?]

[ Lucy grins, waving a hand back and forth. Don't worry about it. As he points out the key card though, she blinks, and then OHS, reaching into her pocket. ]

This is what you're talking about right? I guess it's to go to one of the apartments here?

[he gives a thumbs-up. bingo! and then leans over to peer at it to find the numbers.

he points up (or down) in the direction that key would open a door.]

[ Lucy giggles softly at the thumbs up, turning the key so he can see the numbers: Unit 106. ]

So that way? [ She turns in the direction he points. ]

At least it's not far - that's pretty lucky, I guess. Do you have a unit here too?

[he nods, jerking the thumb back over his shoulder at the door he'd just returned from. and, putting his own key away, he moves, gesturing for her to follow. he'll show her where hers is – just a couple flights down.]

[ She mentally facepalms - for some reason, maaaybe she was tired to not have made the connection. Which was probably a good thing that he was going to show her where her own unit was. THat was just embarrassing, Lucy. ]

Ah right, of course-! I don't know why I didn't realize..

[ Oh we're going places again! She grins sheepishly, turning to follow Jericho. ]

[two flights, and then to the right door! Jericho sweeps his hand toward it, turning aside to let her pass in front of him. it's her place, after all.]

[ That's not too far, much to relief. Drawing our the key for her room, she smiles at Jericho, unlocking the apartment door. ]

I think they also mentioned that I'll have to share this apartment with other people, right? But I don't know who they are yet. [ She waves him in, if he wants to come in. ]

[he follows at her beckoning, ducking his head in a kind of pardon-for-intruding way, before quickly putting on a thoughtful look. yeah, roommates...

he looks around, seeing no sign of the room being lived in quite yet. his shoulders shrug up. no clue!]
