( open ) our ag wing's back and you're gonna be in trouble (hey now! hey now! our ag wing's back)

Date & Time: October 31st, 3313, 11:59PM - November 3rd, 3313, ????
Location: Agriculture Wing, Moon Base to start. Cafeteria, warehouse, docking bay, VR rooms, Transport Pad, or Observatory later on.
Characters: Any & all!
Summary: Space Zombies are allowed out of the Agriculture Wing, slowly revving up their systems to try and infect and absorb as many of the Transports (or 12 Initiative Members) as possible.
Warnings: Log will be locked for potentially graphic violence. Please warn in threads should the violence or gore become graphic.
Notes: Specify a date and location in your top comment. You may specify multiple dates/locations. Specify a time if you wish as well.

Everything is a success at first, from the cool rush of air out of the Agriculture Wing once the doors are fully unlocked, to the heady sense of accomplishment for finally moving forward on something good for the long-term usability of the Moon Base. It's intended to remain a resource, after all, but not be a permanent home. Fraying tempers and the sense of cabin fever descending on Transports continues to showcase how important it is to get back down on Earth to regain some breathing room.

There's little enough dust between all the unmoving, unlit structures, many even supporting the barest dried husks of what once grew there. Upon the lightest touch, they disintegrate, turning into a dust that falls to the ground. The silent rows will be reclaimed and turned into functioning units, based on Transport efforts, and Transport time invested in the project.

There's just one problem. Something stirs in the reclaimed wing, among tangles of hosing and wiring. Skitterings and movements that make no sense for a long abandoned Moon Base. The further in Transports go, relying on magic or technology to generate light past the bare minimum maintained by the base, the more disturbing sights they may run into.

Of course, the most disturbing of all might be lying just around the far corner -- but don't worry, it's only a flesh wound. Try not to get surprised in the machinery, caught suffering from not looking up or caught making out with anything unsavory this holiday season, Transports. We need all of you to stay alive!

We can't bring you back right now!

Asch--!

[Shintaro thrusts out his arm to block the man's way, the rest of his body following, squeezing between people.]

Hey-- sorry-- is that an injury?

[Asch jerks back in alarm, his left hand immediately darting to steady his sword. He doesn't get as far as reaching to draw it before he realizes what happened.] --Shintaro.

[He scowls, suddenly, annoyed at himself for being caught unawares like that.] I'm fine. It's mostly not mine.

[personal profile] substitutable 2013-11-10 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hie-- He draws back as soon as Asch jerks back, expecting him to draw that sword and cut before he realizes who he is, sending his regards to mother back home and apologies to the dan for pulling a stupid move and berating himself for getting himself into this situation and-- and Asch stops, prompting Shintaro to slow his own movements and keep from running off as well.]

S-sorry-- I didn't mean to--

... "Mostly," right? U-um, we should look at what's causing the blood that is yours, then...

[Asch huffs quietly but he doesn't try to resist.] Fine, but we're in the way. [Clearly, he expects Shintaro to follow his lead when he turns and steps to the side, making his way towards an unoccupied bench. He doesn't sit down, of course. Instead he turns to Shintaro again and indicates right forearm. The fabric looks a wee bit mangled, but Asch himself doesn't seem any worse for the wear.]

They're just a few cuts and scratches. See? I'm more tired than injured.

[personal profile] substitutable 2013-11-15 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
[It takes him a moment to react and follow, but he's not far behind Asch when they reach the bench.]

Being tired is the cause of injuries too. You probably know that because you're definitely the warrior kind -- but I'm going to just disinfect these and give you bandaids.

And drink some water too! [that's added hastily as he reaches into the first aid kit for some alcohol swabs]

['The warrior kind'? Asch quirks a brow. It's not like Shintaro was wrong, but Asch had always had him pegged as fairly normal and fairly harmless. Maybe there was more to him.]

I will. [It's a bit odd to be fussed over like this, but Asch is pulling off his gloves and rolling up his sleeves as he speaks anyway. He has no idea what a bandaid is, but the name makes him think it's some sort of bandage.] Just don't take too long. There's still a lot I need to take care of.

[personal profile] substitutable 2013-11-21 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I know. [He takes out those bandaids, bright purple with polka dots (but he keeps the rabbit print ones aside for people who would like those more) and holds them in his hand as he reaches for Asch's arm, taking the swabs and rubbing the cuts he finds.]

Don't be so impatient.

[personal profile] iciclerain 2013-11-23 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Antiseptic stings, Asch discovers, but aside from a clenched fist and wrinkled nose, he doesn't protest the treatment. He gives the bandaids the stink eye but doesn't actually speak out against those, either. It's actually the sanitizing swabs that get his attention.] What are those?

[personal profile] substitutable 2013-11-26 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Huh-- oh, this? It's an alcohol swab. [He doesn't hand him the used ones, but picks out an unopened package and holds it out to him.] You use these to disinfect wounds. Have you ever poured alcoholic drinks on wounds?
iciclerain: (from » becoming unclear)

[personal profile] iciclerain 2013-12-01 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shintaro's question gets a baffled look from Asch. Alcohol on injuries? What the hell?]

No, not ever. [He suddenly eyes the alcohol swab like he expects it to bite him. Maybe he should have made sure Shintaro was all there upstairs before accepting his help.] If I ever got injured I just ate a gel or found someone with healing artes.

... Aah. That's right. You were from the magical land of fonon magic.

[He waves his hand in a dismissive fashion as if to swat Asch's worry away.] Relax. The only thing that swab and booze has anything in common is that they both contain alcohol. The drinks is only when you don't have any other options and it's only when there's more than a certain percentage of the actual alcohol in it that it's useful anyway.

But for people like us who don't have gels or artes, when we get injured but can't get immediate medical attention it's important to disinfect the wounds.
iciclerain: (there's » a feeling that you're gone)

[personal profile] iciclerain 2013-12-01 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Magical land of fonon magic? Asch's expression goes from wary to annoyed. Now Shintaro is just making fun of him, he's sure of it. All the same, Asch listens closely to his explanation. He still looks dubious, but his expression at least no longer suggests that he thinks Shintaro is a complete lunatic.]

Right... [He says that a lot when he's learning from Shintaro, he realizes. He's not sure what to make of it.] Does it always burn like that?

[personal profile] substitutable 2013-12-03 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
If it's infected, it will. The more infected it is, the more it'll burn when the alcohol's trying to fight it.

Have you ever had a fever?
iciclerain: (i » will disappear)

[personal profile] iciclerain 2014-01-10 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. [Asch's constitution wasn't nearly as week as his mother's, but he'd gotten sick on more than one occasion.] You're saying the hot sensation is the same for both?

[personal profile] substitutable 2014-01-11 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the reason for the pain is the same as a fever. The alcohol works to kill the bacteria that got inside your body.
