MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

Her expression turned from annoyed to irritated as she tossed him a glare. "G'luv tish tok hurlfr," she declared firmly, because she wasn't insane, thank you.

And then back to the task at hand, sending a wave of purple lightning crackling along ahead of hers, sweeping a group of solders into the air.

[Ah, fins... That makes more sense. He scratches the back of his head and nods.]

She did. We didn't really get to talk, but... Her EXCITEMENT [He's even copying your way of saying it, Kanaya] at anything is pretty obvious. She must be a good ruler back at your home world to be so helpful here.

Yes...

[he knows Kaworu is right. before he could reach out to anyone, or even dare to use his voice -- there was nothing pleasant about the way he lived. it was nothing but a false and lonely world he'd made to protect himself from being hurt, and he can only be glad that he knows better now... maybe to move on from this world or the next, he'll have to let go of even his ability to be with the few people he can call friends, but at least he'll be doing it without regret.

he feels a little less heavy now, even if he's already known most of this before their conversation. still, Nageki supposes that even just talking to someone he doesn't mind sharing his thoughts with is comforting all by itself.]

Even if I never find the memories I'm looking for... maybe with time, I can make new ones, and that will be good enough.

[maybe a bit abruptly, he shifts in his spot, almost like he's suddenly a little uncomfortable. his eyes dart away for a second, but after they linger elsewhere they turn back as he half mumbles his words.]

Oh, she never actually took the throne, [and her mouth keeps smiling but her eyes are bittersweet] she was too... young. [Honestly she's half-convinced Hilbert himself is a deaged transport who by human standards needs care and coddling himself.]

And there seems to be no place for our royalty on Earth. But she does her best to lead as she can anyway.

Kanaya notices when the undying glow around her to which she is perpetually accustomed suddenly begins to dissipate at the edges. She pushes forward and finds the light she's producing barely cancels out the network of shadows surrounding--

And then she turns the corner, and there is Rose, the six-sweeps Earth Gothic angel (though she knows nothing of Christian heaven and does interpret angel in a fairly strict Hussnasty sense) of her memories. It was different, seeing her video post on her tiny tablet and here, cutting exactly the figure she's supposed to (six, for just a little while they can both be six) in the layered clothing she selected herself.

"How are you," she says cautiously.

[Rose only knows what Kanaya looks like from her investigation of the phones, and she still isn't precisely certain why the troll girl glows the way she does, but it isn't as though she can communicate that question properly.]

[She's honestly a bit fascinated though, watching her shadows trying to compete with that glow, and she watches it for a moment, the darkness straining against the light, before she actually looks up at Kanaya's face and shrugs.]

[His own eyes dart back at him for a moment, but when Kaworu sees that he looks uncomfortable, they turn back to the sky. And instead, his fingertips seek Nageki's hand next to him, touching the side of his palm just enough to get his attention.]

I'm happy that talking to me helped you a little. I like talking to you, too. Let's be friends.

[ Honestly, she should have known better than to volunteer for distraction. Perhaps it was all the compliments Saber had offered on her magic skills or something else entirely, but for some reason, she felt extra confident today. Why not just try? Put herself out there? Prove to her friends that she could handle things on her own?

But these enemies weren't the type she was used to fighting. They weren't monsters. They were people... with guns. It's much more difficult to dodge a bullet than a swipe or a throw, and before long she's found herself with a hard piece of silver lodged inside her right leg. Her healing spells aren't the strongest in the first place, but definitely not strong enough to pull a bullet out. All she can do is sheepishly limp back to home base, blood gushing forth from the wound at a worrying pace. Each step saps her energy more and more, to the point where she eventually cannot walk. With an exasperated sigh, she falls, a splash of red spreading across the ground around her. ]

[ Kanaya why are you like a lightbulb ]

Yeah, I guess they are. But most kids haven't ever seen magic, or... [ how to put this non-rudely... ] anyone who isn't human before. [ She thinks back to how they'd entertained all the children back in the city, and laughs a little. ] I'd be pretty impressed too.

after a successful escorting of her team...

[ Though their contract was new, Saber had felt the moment of distress in her mind as to her Master's condition. She had lead Natasha and Athrun to a successful retrieval of some... copy of a game, and, at least, had a feeling they would be fine without her for the moment.

Saber dashes across the battlefield, not mindful of the bullets as they cannot pierce her body in spirit form right now. She can feel Serah's presence drawing closer, and her green eyes spot the pink hair amidst the carnage... and the look of an enemy about to take aim.

With one final leap, Saber materializes, longsword in hand. The soldier didn't even have a chance to turn around as she slices the man in half. ]

[He's definitely giving them a hell of a hurting, but nothing that looks fatal, anyway. He won't hesitate if they try lethal force on him, though. He'll talk in between fighting them off.]

I guess that's okay. Some of us gotta make do without fancy magic swords, though.

[Eddie makes a face, trying to wrack his brain for any relevant information]

"Oh, we're doing this shit with lightning now?" Eddie calls out with an obvious grin on his face. He ceases playing the Battle cry solo, and instead begins playing what sounds like a random set of riffs and notes. However, these individual string plucks have a whole new effect. That of bolts of lightning descending from the clouds, striking wherever Eddie deemed necessary, or just plain awesome to look at.

As an added flaming bonus, Eddie began belting out various power chords. These new chords have a significantly different effect from playing the individual notes. These chords instead produce eruptions of fire beneath the enemy. The resulting blast of fire proves extremely destructive, as their foes are either burnt to ash or are forced away from the sheer temperature of the heat.

[ here's a kid! he's crouched nearby, arms wrapped around his legs, but he's not quite in on the fun... yet. he watches other kids play on the ice for a while, before creeping forwards and touching the ice with just his fingertips.

at the coldness, he jerks it back and backs up a bit, looking back at the kids sliding across the surface. ]

There's no way I'm doing that. I'd just fall.

No problem! That's what I'm here for.

[She ties up a robot's legs, making it fall over and therefore more susceptible to someone else's attack. She turns with Tori, fighting nearly back to back.]

Oh, him? He's just sleeping for a while. He won't be getting in anyone's way until we're done here.

[Of course he doesn't care. But she's keeping a close eye on him in case he wants to try suicide by crazy future alternate universe Cruxis technology. She doesn't trust Zelos not to do something goddamn stupid just to make a statement.]

You're getting sloppy! [She says it like a challenge, sending a sealed kunai so deep into a security bot's panel that it sparks and explodes.]

[To be fair, that sort of idea had crossed his mind a couple times while preparing. A chaotic battle was the perfect place to fall. But of course, something caused him to dismiss the thought]

Aw, don't tell me you nearly got hit by some wind, my hunny.

[He meanwhile turns and slashes through a bot coming near, his blade making quick work of it's metal]

[ DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW... but either way, she takes Sophie's reaction as one of shock, and laughs a little. ]

Ahahaha, sorry! I didn't mean to surprise you. [ Sword in hand, she deflects another attack; sending the man reeling backwards. ] But pay attention, okay? You don't wanna get caught out.

[ She might miss it, if that wasn't exactly what she was looking for. The blood catches her eye, and she turns to chase after him, calling out loudly. ]

Hey, hold on a minute! [ It's worrying, to see injured people back at the base. This place was supposed to be safe. ] If you're hurt, you should let me take a look at it.

[ YES SHE DOES. SHE LIKES LEARNING. Of all the things to catch Sophie off guard... it turns out to be a simple wink. ]

Okay. I'll pay better attention.

[ And that she does as more troops close in on them. She does a back flip kick into the air, with blades of light following her legs as she sends several soldiers flying back. Landing back on the ground, she goes back into her fighting stance with her fists up and prepares herself for any more incoming enemies. ]

...But what was it that you just did? You blinked with one eye.

[ This is a totally important question... ]

( he pauses when she addresses him, but shoots an annoyed look at what she has to say. )

[ he wishes he could say he has some cool power or that he can fight even when he's five, but... well. he can't. ]

Maybe I can just make sure people've got supplies? I don't wanna sit and do nothing to help.

You're injured, right? [ He's either bleeding, or was bleeding at some point. Neither is a good sign. ] You shouldn't just walk around like that. It's not gonna get any better if you ignore it.

[Good. When Zelos loses all sense of self-preservation, she'll have to step in and kick his ass.

She recognizes the nickname-- of course-- and it gets under her skin a little. Is he doing that to prove something? Or maybe he's actually starting to accept--

-- nah. She scoffs.] I'm not your hunny, and you're leaving your back wide open!

[Such is a thing that happens when you're taking the time to cast spells. She doesn't think that he might have super angelic senses. It's not something he brings up a lot of the time, so she just slides in close enough to watch his peripherals while fighting. Better than making fun of him and letting either of them get hurt.

Three heavily-armed technosoldiers approach Sheena. She doesn't flinch or complain, just moves. A simple Pyre Seal knocks down the first one. The second runs in to engage her at close range, which is a mistake; she launches her foot into his crotch, followed by a swift elbow to the face, and then a knockdown from above.

That leaves the third one, who is a bit aggravated at this strange ninja girl ruining his business. He holds out a crackling stun-rod that he probably ripped off Reno's dead body.

Some real winners here in the UE. Zelos can help or he can see what she does. It doesn't really matter.]
