MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

[ DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW... but either way, she takes Sophie's reaction as one of shock, and laughs a little. ]

Ahahaha, sorry! I didn't mean to surprise you. [ Sword in hand, she deflects another attack; sending the man reeling backwards. ] But pay attention, okay? You don't wanna get caught out.

[ YES SHE DOES. SHE LIKES LEARNING. Of all the things to catch Sophie off guard... it turns out to be a simple wink. ]

Okay. I'll pay better attention.

[ And that she does as more troops close in on them. She does a back flip kick into the air, with blades of light following her legs as she sends several soldiers flying back. Landing back on the ground, she goes back into her fighting stance with her fists up and prepares herself for any more incoming enemies. ]

...But what was it that you just did? You blinked with one eye.

[ This is a totally important question... ]

[ Sayaka stops mid-step when she hears that question. Was she actually asking...? Laughing would probably be rude, but she can't help the tiny giggle that sneaks out. ]

Seriously? You've never seen anyone wink before? [ She does it again, still laughing quietly. ] It means that I've got this under control. These guys can't stand up to a magical girl!

When you wink, it means you've got this under control. [ She repeats it to herself to remember it. Even if Sayaka did laugh at her, it would only earn her some head tilting and the rudeness would fly above her head.

Another soldier comes charging at her and she launches her fist into his stomach, her gauntlets providing extra force to the impact.

She looks back at Sayaka and... winks without smiling, which makes it look really strange. ]

[ because that's not unnerving at all... ]

Uh... yeah! [ POINTS FOR TRYING ] You should try smiling, though. People don't wink unless they're happy!

[ One moment as she punches and kicks a few more soldiers into the air. She then turns towards Sayaka again, winking with a smile. Now that looks more natural, right? ]

[ ...Seconds later, she's back to a clueless and curious expression. Head tilt! ]

Ahahaha... yeah, that was a lot better. [ Genuine, despite her laughter. ] It's really cute when you smile like that, though. You should keep it up.

Oh, thank you. [ For the compliment. She smiles again! Even if she has no idea why you're laughing. ] People smile... when they're happy. When you've "got this under control", does it make you happy?

Duh! [ She's teasing, but quickly continues. ] That's what it's all about. I mean, you wouldn't be happy if you were in danger, right?

[ Hang on a second as she thinks that question over. ] ...duh. [ She's copying you, Sayaka. ]

I'm happy I've got this under control, because I can protect everyone.

[ NO STOP THAT she has the worst habits nobody should be copying her ]
