MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

But they do whatever they can. [ It's not always the best, but they try their damn hardest. She's probably more willing to admit that than any other vigilante.

Or perhaps it's because she's been on the "other" side before. She'd been the Brigade XO at USMA. Her parents had outstanding military careers. She's seen what drives good people to protect and serve. ]

[ The entire time, she had been this close to letting go of the soldier in her grip and joining Connor's side-- but he's got things under his control. He's skilled. Trained. She wonders where he picked up such skills and well-timed reflexes.

Her fingers tighten against the one in her coils already, the toe of her boot pressing against his injury now. ]

Where? Tell me. [ Her voice drops low and is almost pleasant, but behind the false sweetness is the threat of more pain. ]

[ Jack can tell, but he doesn't comment on it.

When she's standing on the ice, he slides back over to her and he positions himself so that he's in front of her with his arms held out so that she has something to hold onto if she wants and he can easily catch her when she slips. ]

Yeah, you can. You're doing just fine.

This might be a bit risky, but at this moment I don't believe we have enough time allotted to split up.

[Less power to deal with the guards often meant a lot more time spent dispatching them after all. Might as well rush in to the place most likely to have them.

Even if there's a 50% chance of them ending up with a dud.]

[ He might not have had the costume, but he was still Robin. He knew how to be silent when he needed to be. If anything, staying low was going to be easier without the bright yellow cape. ]

She bites her tongue about making a comment about him needing to learn that sarcasm is a thing, because it's not really necessary, and she doesn't feel like making a fuss over a tiny point.

But her grip does tighten on her staff as he approaches, an instinctive tension at a potential threat (she'd dismissed him as one while they were fighting, but that could always change), "You apparently have met many humans, most of us don't like unnecessary violence."

Not that she doesn't enjoy a bit of violence every now and then, but she's seen far too much of it.

[She seems a little startled, maybe she wasn't ready for such a casual joke about dying.]

[He's kind of disbelieving that she can do it, but he raises his wand, forming ice above his head.]

Fine! If you get hurt, it's not my fault, got it?

He knows what sarcasm is; his parents both have a streak of that human affectation running through their veins and is something Sesshoumaru tries to avoid.

Not considering him a threat at any time is a mistake many people make, and they soon learn the error of their ways. This woman, however, is not using that lapse in judgement as a means to attack him, so she will remain safe as long as she does so.

"Maybe you just don't know them very well," It's puts her on edge, the fact that he's painting all humans with broad strokes. She's not used to it being applied to a whole species, but she gets enough of it about her being a woman, or being from a lower class, that it instantly raises her hackles.
