MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

[ Jack can tell, but he doesn't comment on it.

When she's standing on the ice, he slides back over to her and he positions himself so that he's in front of her with his arms held out so that she has something to hold onto if she wants and he can easily catch her when she slips. ]

Yeah, you can. You're doing just fine.

[miiracles]

[ Slowly, Rika moves forward by making short steps on her own and trying to keep her balance. When she decides to make one large step forward, she finds herself nearly slipping, but she quickly reaches to grab Jack's arms before she can fall over.

A sigh. ...And a bit of a pouty face. ]

...I can't.

[frorn]

[ Jack is just as quick to catch her, taking a firm but gentle hold of her arms to keep her from falling.

The pouting gets a laugh, although it's not a mean one, and he shakes his head at her persistence that she can't do it. ]

Okay, keep your feet flat and hold on.

[miiracles]

[ She follows his instructions, keeping her feet flat and holding on. It feels a lot better for her to have someone nearby to keep her stable and on her feet. ]

Mii. Now what?

[frorn]

Now we go faster.

[ Hope you're prepared Rika, but even if you're not, Jack kicks himself off and suddenly they're sliding across the ice with quite some speed. ]

[miiracles]

Faster? Mi, mii...!

[ That loud squeak definitely gives away that she wasn't ready for this! The speed creates a breeze as they slide across the ice, sending some locks of her long hair smack into her face and partially covering her eyes. She would push it aside if she weren't holding on tightly to Jack. Not like she really needs to see much though... ]

[ Well, he'll have the wind blow it out of her face anyway. He doesn't stop, but he does slow down slightly after the initial rush, until they're just smoothly gliding across the ice and weaving their way past anyone else on there. ]

[miiracles]

[ And the wind reveals Rika's shocked stare beneath that lock of hair. The shock gradually blows over though. Her expression softens into a faint smile, followed up by a small laugh. ]

[frorn]

[ Oh, the smile and the laugh are much better. They earn her a twirl before he comes to a careful stop. ]

See? Not so bad, huh?

[miiracles]

[ It's not the biggest, happiest smile she could make, but it's a smile nonetheless. She nods slowly. ]

...It's not so bad. Thank you, Jack.

[frorn]

[ A smile is a smile nonetheless and Jack will take what he can get. He lets go of her although he doesn't move his arms so she can still hold on if she wants to. ]

It's nothing. Cheer up, okay? Things will be alright.
