MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Date & Time: August 23rd, 2753 (OOCly forward-dated to the 1st)
Location: Uruguay National Defense HQ
Characters: All transports!
Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

[[ Mission information is here, and the techie/escort teams, along with their hacking results, are here. Each techie/escort group will have their own established thread, but Team Distraction and Team We'll Stay Here, Thanks are welcome to thread where ever and however they like! The newbie log that goes up on the 1st will also encompass the arrival back in Exsilium, if you'd like to play that out as well. ]]

[speaking of seasoned veterans, Peter is perfectly in his element as a distraction. It's not that he actually cares about the Initiative or this mission. He's just been itching to cause trouble, so getting into a battle feels really good right about now.

He notices the girl's power, and her nervousness]

Hey, you think you can aim that lightning toward the ships? I can take care of the ground troops.

[She looks over and feels relief when she sees it's Peter. But wait: what happened to his face? Why does he seem so different?]

Um, I think.

[She focuses her attention on the sky, directing lightning bolts near the ships to push them back. Her grip on her staff tightens, and she adds wind to encourage the ships to turn around, unable to continue their mission. She hopes it works.]

[he, of course, doesn't know he's supposed to know her. He just sees a girl who clearly has a lot of power. He makes sure she's doing okay while he telekinetically starts throwing the troops against each other. He's got his eyes on their weapons, too. You know, just in case they drop them or anything]

[She focuses on the ships, anxious to keep the lightning from actually striking anybody. But one of the ship's guns start firing pretty close and she freaks out, her powers making a gust of wind lift the ship and toss it back towards another. The latter dodges, but the first spirals towards the ground and she feels rather sick about it.]

Nice shot. [he looks impressed, before going back to what he's doing. A column of flame shoots out from his hands, forcing the ground troops back. If they get burned it's their own fault]

I, I didn't mean...

[She trails off, staring dumbly at scene, willing there to be a little figure in a parachute coming down who ejected right before. Maybe there is, but she doesn't see anybody.

There's a boom of thunder overhead, and Lena grips her staff tightly for support. Glancing over at Peter, she winces at the flames.]

[he has just enough empathy buried inside him to notice that the fire bothers her. He lets the flames die down, almost seeming apologetic for upsetting her. Almost]

Think you can create a rainstorm? Might help.

[She blinks like she's coming out of a daze. Or a memory. But she nods and takes a deep breath, determined to focus. There's more thunder and the lightning is set back farther, before it begins to pour down rain. Of course, the longer she has to think, the more upset she grows, so the stronger the storm grows too.

Maybe she was fooling herself thinking she could be a fighter just because she has powers.]

Try to control your emotions, rather them letting them take the control. You have the power to let this storm rage as long as you want, or you can make it stop in an instant.

... And try not to hit me. [he says this last part before shooting off into the air. He's going to take care of the ships so she won't have to]

[She wants to retort that she knows that, but then he's off and she doesn't have a chance. She sighs, pressing a hand to her face. What would her boyfriend say if he was here? Probably something meant to be comforting that would just end up frustrating her. So she drops that idea and focuses back on the troops. Her hair whips around as she creates a strong wind that disorients them. They can't even see. Good. Maybe they'll give up and turn back.

Whatever Peter's doing, she's not sure she wants to look up and see. His behavior strikes her as strange, and then she thinks that maybe he's one of the people affected by the weird aging or deaging thing going around. Maybe she should cut him some slack, if that's the case.]

[no, she probably doesn't want to see what he's doing with those ships. Because he does not care one bit if they happen to explode or crash into each other. Yep, just gonna do some mindless destruction]
claimyourself: (cast ☽ to lick me clean)

[personal profile] claimyourself 2013-02-02 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Of course, it's not like she can't hear the destruction going on, and she definitely doesn't know how to come to terms with it. The only thing she can do is repeat in her head that there might be a chance this actually is helping their own homes somehow.

Her windstorm turns into hurricane-force winds, directed at the troops, and they begin lifting off the ground, knocking into each other.]
