MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

Nah, not really. There's less than a dozen of them total.

[debtor]

...And you can summon them?

[wilder]

Nah. Only a summoner can.

[debtor]

I see. Oh well.

[LAME.

Reinforcements arriving at twelve o'clock, though. Allen immediately turns his attention to them.]

[wilder]

[SORRY GO ASK THE NINJA NEIGHBOR ]

[Zelos also turns his attention towards them. A few of the troopers with what seems to be lethal taser sticks try to rush at them, but Zelos is quick enough to meet them with his sword]

[debtor]

[Be gentle to them...!

Allen knocks over the ones that rush at him with a sweep of his cape, and rushes at them with his Initiative-given gauntlet, to punch them out.]

[wilder]

[Uh...sure...]

[Zelos meanwhile knocks away the rod he met the sword with. There's a few swings swung at him, but with his reflexes and speed they don't hope to hit. When he attacks, it's mere seconds before both of them are dead on the ground, with slash wounds that hit vital organs- clearly quick deaths]

[Once that's done, he'll glance over his shoulder to see how Allen's doing]

[debtor]

[And then suddenly there's a scream and Zelos has a shounen hero flinging himself at him, with the intent to knock him to the ground.]

[wilder]

[You know, you'd think a guy who died via his own companions would be more cautious- but Zelos is caught off guard by Allen suddenly going berserk and attacking him- so he'll hit and fall to the ground]

What the- Allen!

[debtor]

[He looks a BIT UPSET.

And he's moving to pin Zelos to the ground with the palm of his clawed hand, talons caging around his neck. Practically screeching:]

You killed them—!

[In case you hadn't noticed.]

[wilder]

[And since Zelos can't really match Allen in raw strength with that claw? Consider him pinned]

[Also looking at Allen like he grew a second head because seriously this is like freaking out over a baker baking for Zelos]

Well yeah! They were trying to kill me and this is a battle! What did you expect?

[debtor]

[Allen has no grudge against the UE's soldiers; they're opponents (and easy ones at that), but they're not his enemies. Humans aren't. They're just men, under orders, defending their land from invaders and thieves.

So far, Zelos is the only one he's seen taking anyone's life.

He curls his other hand into a fist, eyes flashing in rage.]

You could have stopped them! You left the others alive!

They didn't need to die!

[wilder]

[Zelos meanwhile seems completely unaffiliated by Allen's rage beyond annoyance. You kill in battle. That's a rule Zelos has known his entire life. Death in battle is an honorable death]

You really are an idiot, aren't you? You think I'm some sort of monster for killing people?

[He makes a humorless scoffing noise]

Remember how this whole place is gonna blow in about twenty minutes? You know what that means? All those people that you've knocked out? Are going to die. And much much more horribly than the two dead guys right there. And that's if they're lucky and don't get trampled to death first.

Grow up kid, this is war. People die.

[debtor]

[Like he's been hit with a splash of ice water, his eyes widen and for a moment, his hold loosens. He stares back at the fallen soldiers, the one's he'd fought.

He'd...]

They—

They can still escape! There has to be a way! [He turns back to Zelos, desperate now.] They wouldn't...

[Simply kill them all over a computer program. The UE's forces must have the means to retreat. Right!? All of these men and women they've sent into battle, everyone else on the coast...]

[wilder]

[Zelos would try to move from his spot, but really those claws? Look sharp enough to decapitate him if they move the wrong way. So he'll stay where he is]

Troops only get a couple minutes to withdraw, not enough time to search for survivors in this field. And the blast's gonna be big enough to take out the region- there's nowhere to run.

Seriously - did none of this occur to you when you volunteered? What did you think would happen here?

[debtor]

[He grits his teeth, lowering his head, bangs curtaining over his eyes.]

I'm here to protect the ones who went inside!

I'd thought— [as long as he'd left them alive, they'd have a chance to survive.

He lifts his claw away from Zelos' neck, stumbling back. Thickly,] All these people.

[Is there no way to save them...]

[wilder]

[He moves to get up when the claw is lifted away. There's part of Zelos that can almost relate to the horror of all the carnage that just seems so needless. But considering where they were at the moment...]

Tt, I don't have time for this right now.

Get back to the base. If you can't handle the fact people die in war, you don't belong out here.

[debtor]

[Allen shakes his head tightly, shoulders squared. Even if he can't save these men, he still has a job to do, the ensure that his fellow Transports don't also die.]

I'm here to act as a distraction.

[HE SHALL NOT BE KITCHENED.

He's moving past Zelos, now, though.]

[wilder]

...Whatever.

Don't get yourself killed, you hear?

[You're too young to die, you idiot. But Zelos at least will give him space and seemingly head back into the battle in another direction]
