MISSION: GET TO ZE CHOPPA

Summary: All transports are sent back to Uruguay to download a self-aware AI before it gets bombed out of existence by an early incarnation of the UE. Time distortion effects will be set right either on the way there or on the way back, according to player choice.
Warnings: violence, action movie tension, 3 terabytes of foot fetish porn.

The Transporter drops the entire transport population into what will quickly be established as Home Base, a mile from the vast, sprawling facility that is Uruguay's National Defense HQ. The low roar of helidrones moving above is pervasive, but the black ships can only be glimpsed here and there through the thick cover of trees overhead. If you keep calm and quiet, it's likely you won't be spotted. It's the UND HQ their attention is on, after all.

The population is quickly sorted by attending Initiate employees according to who volunteers to fight and who volunteers to protect, along with those with enough skill to access the computers, and those with enough skill to get them there. The fighters move out first, off to intercept the early UE's ships and ground troops, and to draw the automated defense systems of the facility alike. They'll be in a crossfire, and neither side will be happy to see them there.

The techies and their escorts are sent out far more quietly, in groups of three. Their task is to sneak past the front lines and into the facility itself. There might be alarms and automated defense drones, so those escorts may well be called on to earn their keep. The Initiative can't give any information about which building will house the AI's mainframe, that information was long since lost to history. All they can do is send out enough people to hope that one of them manages to find it.

And remember — as soon as the UE troops withdraw, there will only be minutes until the bomb drops. Everyone would do well to work fast.

[ When Riku turns, he'll find his short steps matched by a princess' shadow - Gwendolyn is concerned for his safety, regardless. She is glad he is not the sort to pitch a righteous fit but she can't help but feel perhaps a touch dismayed by how his face fell.

Only once they are close to the shelter does she reach with her hand to rest it lightly on his head. ]


You are very brave. [ Her words are firm and kind, but her expression is no less serious than before. ] But remember, you need not seek danger to prove yourself courageous, to yourself or to others.

[ it's disappointing to have to trudge back to the shelter, feeling like he's let himself down. he wanted to help. if he helped, they could go home faster, right? he needs to keep everyone safe. what if sora and kairi are being picked apart by bullies right now? his heart clenches, and he presses a tiny fist against his chest just thinking about it. Gwendolyn startles him with her words.

... and her gift. he looks at the feather with round eyes and surprise, confusion. ]

It is one of my feathers.

[ She had told Billy, when he had returned this feather, that there were those that kept Valkyrie feathers as trophies, regardless of whether they had fought one or not.

Such insult to honor and dignity could not be tolerated.

But feathers shed naturally were free to be given. And Riku, young as he is, simply did not strike her as the sort to gloat over such a gift - one with so simple an appearance, at that. Never mind that a child like him could not possibly know the significance.

So, it makes her decision quite a simple one, really. ]

You need only be brave when you have to be; I know that you can show the other children here how to be brave, in spite of the danger. 'Tis considered good luck to keep a Valkyrie's feather with you, especially at times of battle.
