[Phoenix Wright has taken this wonderful opportunity to drag some blankets out of his apartment and build a blanket fort for no other reason than the shits and giggles that came with sitting in a cozy corner with blankets and... doing nothing. It's too dark to read a book so he's probably just going to fall asleep here. If Trucy were here, he would've invited her and they would've chatted, but alas. He'll go find Maya later.

But his boredom/melancholy/midlife crisis is interrupted by the sight of a familiar white-haired man with parasite-worm-things! Not that that's how he actually remembers Kariya, but that was the easiest description. He looks... tired, as usual, and Phoenix is pretty sure that the guy has been actively avoiding him. Not that he blames him after the last time they had an unwanted heart-to-heart... but he doesn't like being skirted around, so he does the next smartest thing:

He lies down on his stomach and waits until Kariya is closer before -- knowing there's nothing nearby for the guy to fall onto, grabs for his ankles and holds on tight!]

[Kariya is a (mostly) functioning adult who lives an adult life and does adult things (mostly), and considering the way Exsilium is most of what goes on here is fairly mature, right? Right.

So he utterly does not expect the pile (of blankets? pillows? stuffed animals?) to have a hand, and he certainly doesn't expect the hand to grab him while he hobbles his way past. There's a small noise of surprise, a moment of decidedly frantic wobbling, and then he ends up sitting on the floor and blinking at--

Okay, so that's Phoenix, and that's a blanket fort, and he hadn't wanted to see Phoenix just yet and...]

[The man in the blanket fort with the beanie on his head grins widely from his cavern, though he doesn't let go of Kariya's ankle yet.]

I saw you coming and I hadn't seen you in a while thought I thought I'd say hi.

It's dark, but the pointed statement makes him look down awkwardly anyway. He wasn't avoiding Phoenix -- at least, not just Phoenix -- but that's not something he wants to get into, either. He's not sure, himself, what exactly he was thinking anymore.

Weeell there was a possibility that if I yelled a greeting at you from here, you might've screamed and run off and that would've be counterproductive on my part. Hey, join me. It's pretty comfortable here and I've got lamps and batteries to last a few hours. Chocolate?

[He's not exactly letting go. He's not that interested in pushing Kariya for answers. He just wants friendship Kariya Kariya come on join him this is totally going to be fun, two grown men playing blanket fort!!]

[There's a split second there where he definitely looks somewhat indignant, if it had been visible, but then he just shakes his head.]

And you don't think grabbing someone's foot in the dark would make them run off somehow?

[Besides, he wouldn't have screamed, gosh. Run off sooner or later, maybe, but the screaming part would have definitely been absent. He hadn't taken Phoenix for being this persistent; granted, he still didn't know the guy that well.

He does sound amused now, if resigned.]
