[Kariya's not stumbling around blindly -- not exactly. He is certainly doing the stumbling part, but that's part of his usual repertoire. He's been spending a lot of time in the dark recently; a substantial part of it underground.

So it's no surprise that his night vision has improved, even if only having one eye to view with rather makes up the difference.

As such, he can easily sense the movement in the dark. The hard part is actually moving fast enough to avoid it -- he's considerably less limber than most of the people here, so he can only try to edge off to the side instead of leaving it to a head-on collision.]
