Location: The Hold and Housing Complex
Characters: All who wish to be in the vicinity!
Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.

The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.

Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.

The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.

The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.

When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of the ~~Universe~~ Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.

( There is little argument that Onyx is not, in fact, actually a jerk. But a bribable jerk, which makes her better than other jerks, in Collette's mind. She's purchasable and predictable in as much as she can be reliably greedy.

For some reason, she's pretty sure Onyx is reliably greedy, for money, for knowledge, for whatever suits her current whim.

She's still grateful to her, and grateful to see she's okay. Though she only finds her later, having her own set of worries to work through after the safe teleportation met the unsafe crash landing of their ship into the Housing Complex. )

< You're tired, huh? That was really amazing work, > ( she offers, mental tone carrying honest admiration along with an edge of worry. )

[ That's twice Collette's voice in her head as referred to her or her magic as amazing. Onyx is rapidly deciding that she doesn't mind that at all. She glances over at the dog, cocks a brow, and offers a smug little smile. ]

I hope you weren't expecting anything else from me.

[ No comment on the tired part, because while she can't exactly deny it when she doesn't even have the energy to stand up from this lean, she doesn't have to confirm it. ]

( The lack of movement is more why Collette opts to go for the friendly nudge at Onyx's side, circling around after a moment to glance out across the area. )

< From you? Not at all. You're an all or nothing kind of woman. >

( To sometimes extremely unfortunate degrees. )

That's true.

[ She'd beef the self-praise up a little on another day, but that will do for now. And, after a quick and furtive glance around, then at Collette, she eases to a seat. It's not so bad if this particular person witnesses a tiny bit of weakness. ]

Mm, and no fatalities. I suppose that isn't so bad.

( Yep, Collette knew that had to tucker Onyx out. It's relieving to see her stop being so stubborn about it, even if it was just a little. Her tail wags in a slow arc, pleased both with this, and with the truth in her other statement. )

< Are you kidding? That's amazing, too! No fatalities is the best kind of news you can have in a situation like this. Right along with no comas and no critically wounded, I guess, but even collateral damage to people seems to be at a minimum. >

[ god collette stop it you're going to swell her head. She's looking a little pleased as it is, and flips hair over one shoulder. ]

Was anyone hurt at all, do you know? [ In a tone that's careful to say, 'not that I really care, just curious.' ]

< Yes, but nothing that'll stick. >

( Her own injury hadn't been Onyx's fault, it'd been bad timing and location on Collette's. Not that she'd picked the location, but really! )

< Caesar's okay, and I saw Nash. Everyone you pulled out should be fine! >

[ She considers that, weighs how much she really cares, and offers a shrug. ]

It sounds like I've earned my keep, then.

< You weren't meant to be a kept woman -- > ( wait, she's pretty sure that came out wrong, but she shakes her head, continuing regardless ) < -- but yeah. Even you can get behind the teammate thing. >

( Collette dances around, looking over her shoulder and breathing in deep. She's got the rest to track down and find still. )

< Next time, you should look up the definition of volunteer in the dictionary. It'd help with a whole lot of stupid miscommunications. >

[ He good mood dims a little with that, and she frowns at the dog Collette is. ]

I know what it means. I also know Clive was earning money, and he didn't even stay with the group.

< Clive wasn't earning money. >

( Collette says that with absolute certainty. )

< Maybe Caesar was stupid and Clive was working for a favor, or something else, but I can tell you for sure it wasn't money. >

He told me he was. [ Which makes it Word of God, as far as she's concerned. ]

< The he lied, and you believed him. Which sucks, > ( she concludes, tail drooping ) < But I guess that's something you'd prefer to be true anyway. You're much less awkward than you were as Dagger, you know, but I still wonder what your world is like that you believe the word of one guy who doesn't stick around to several people who were all there for you. >

( She shakes herself, dust coming off her coat, then looks off to the left. )

[ She stares after the dog, frowning a little. It's... not a bad point. Clive had disappeared immediately, the rest of them had fought at her side -- and excepting Caesar, none of them were too awful.

But it's a thought she's happy to set aside for some other time. There's too much happening of interest at the moment. ]
