Location: The Hold and Housing Complex
Characters: All who wish to be in the vicinity!
Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.

The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.

Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.

The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.

The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.

When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of the Universe Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.

Welcome to the fallout. What will you do from here?

[He drops his hand away from his face and stares at the croissant without blinking. But just as quickly, he frowns, reaches over and shoves Oz's hand away.]

I ate that morning...before I came to get you.

[He says it in past tense, as though it hadn't just happened to him a few hours prior.]

( shoves that hand back!!!! )

That was hours ago.

( like, a lot of them. )

[retraced]

[Shoves back?!]

You need it more than me! You look like you've lost weight here, you should definitely eat more!

[velveteened]

( there is no way he's going to eat this now. shakes his hand holding the croissant! )

So, a little more or less right now isn't going to change that!

[retraced]

If you're not denying it, then just eat it.

[Logic.]

[velveteened]

( get your flithy logic out of here!!! )

If I try to deny it, you'll just say I didn't notice.

[retraced]

Then...

[Hm.]

That's the same as agreeing with me.

No it isn't! Anyway, we don't just have one last croissant left!

( there's another!! and cookies. )

You'll be hungry again later.

[So there.]

I won't! Besides, even if I am, how do you expect to do something about it if you're hungry yourself?

( starting to depart from logic here. )

It's all right if I don't eat for a while longer!

[Meanwhile, from the wagon:

The cat stirs, raises his head and sniffs the air. There's food somewhere, he knows it.]

[velveteened]

What's alright about that?

( the cat slowly, stealthily, and in a way that would in no way look adorable or ridiculous to anyone actually watching him rises to his paws, nose pointed in the direction of the scent of food. )

It's all right because I say it is!

[Kitty cares not for this conversation. He leaps up onto the bench beside them and arches his back, ready to pounce as soon as that croissant is within striking distance.]

[velveteened]

That's not an ans -

( an opportune wave of the hand brings the croissant close enough for the cat to leap towards, mouth open for grabbing.

his trajectory will very likely involve landing on gilbert. )

[retraced]

[Cat launches into the air. Cat grabs croissant between mouth and paws. Cat then lands directly into Gilbert's lap where he proceeds to make himself comfortable and chew away at the poor neglected pastry.]

C.........c........c-c-c-caaaaaaa....?!

[And all the while Gilbert is frozen in place, apparently having forgotten how to breathe or move a single muscle, arms dangling awkwardly a few inches in the air over the cat. A perfect impression of a statue or corpse. Oz please take the cat away before he finally snaps out of it and starts screaming and running.]

[And sadly, Gilbert forgets how to breathe for too long. A few more seconds of shaking in absolute terror and his eyes roll back in his head just before he slumps backwards on the bench and passes the fuck out.

The cat happily continues his meal.]

( eventually, though, he does lift up the cat and set him down on the ground - luckily, li jun is too pleased by his excellent pastry hunting skills to be too aggrieved - and is left with the problem of what to do about gilbert.
