Summary: Holding a dinner so we can all get to know each other, this should end terribly.

[This month's haul of transports seemed to bring in a lot of familiar faces for the residents of 103. Friends, family, comrades, terrifying generals who are your boss now- all sorts! ]

[It was Sophie's idea to hold a dinner. A dinner of family, for everyone to have a chance to meet each other and get to know each other better. It seemed like a nice way to welcome everyone into this horrible war. But hey, food! And so, Allen and Sophie made sure to invite their friends, family and comrades in order to have a warm evening together]

[And Kaneis, well, at least he isn't climbing out the back window at the prospect of social interaction for hours. This my friends, is progress. ]

[But gather around friends and family and terrifying boss! There's food, people, wine and games to be had! Just you know, try not to cough in it you sick jerks]

[ Oh, there really is someone in here! Sophie approaches the bed, looking over it and only spotting the pair of eyes peeking out. ]

A challenge will make it fun. He won't give up!

[Okay, Cat, okay. He can take a hint. His voice drops to barely above a whisper.]

Oh. Well if that's what you really want... I'll be back to check up on things later.

[But he'll make sure to do so quietly next time, so he doesn't disturb her too much. Asbel gives a short nod, waving sheepishly at her back before slowly walking off to check on everyone else.]

I don't know him too well yet, but Kaneis seems like a nice guy. He helped me out my first day here.

[Asbel thinks back.]

Well, it's tough. There were a lot of students when I attended, and about a third of those were women. The building in the capital acts as a school. Once you're accepted, you study a lot and participate in group exercises and drills. Then the instructors take you out on training missions to test your skill, and some time after that, when they decide you're ready, they might let you take part in field missions.

If you pay attention and work hard, hopefully you graduate and become a knight.

[What, seriously?!! Wow. That's a lot more specific than he was expecting.]

I've been helping clean up, so it's no problem. [That was...sixty degrees. Two spoons. Got it.]

Hang tight, okay? I'll be right back.

[And he'll recite that silently to himself all the way to the kitchen so he doesn't forget. Sixty degrees, two spoons, sixty degrees...]

[It's during clean-up that Asbel returns to the kitchen, rubbing the back of his head and scanning the counterspace fretfully.] Man... Just how am I supposed to make sure it's the right temperature?

[He spots Lenalee, offering her a slightly sheepish smile.]

Um. Excuse me, do you know if there are any clean drinking glasses? Or...tea?

[The tea's kind of important.]

[Well, keep up the good work! He should eat every last bite of it unless he wants Cheria to get angry at him, too. Asbel can tell him all about that; it's no fun.]

...Sure, Hubert. Sounds good! [As long as they aren't soul-suckingly boring textbooks, anyway.]

What I'd really like to do is learn more about the United Earth. There has to be information out there regarding what the UE and the people of Exsilium couldn't resolve. Maybe if we understood their differences, we could find a way to stop all this.

Heh. [She scratches beneath her bun.] I will once I get my bearings.

Mm, something like that.

[He's already gotten his scolding from Cheria for not having a balanced diet. It's not his fault he really like rice omelettes. Okay, maybe it is, but there's something comforting about his favorite food that no other foods can provide.]

Always the idealist, though I cannot deny your logic. What we need to find out is what started this war, though I suppose many people have looked to that as a solution.

Asbel...

[Cheria frowns, staring down at the ground. It's honestly not her place to say anything about Asbel's dad, or what happened between them but... She hates thinking about how they never got to know each other. Sometimes she feels like she knew Aston better than he did, because of how everything turned out. It might not be so far from the truth, either. She also doesn't want to make this conversation serious. It's supposed to be a party, right?]

It's what you wanted to do so... I would have been mad if I'd found out you were slacking off at it! Since you talked about it so much.

Oh- I'm a friend of Sophie's. When I found out she was here, I didn't want to leave her side.

[Read: I didn't want to leave her with irresponsible people.]

[That's the whole problem, isn't it? Neither of them can admit how important the other is to them, for strikingly similar reasons, actually. Cheria feels like the timing is always off, like it's not fair to people that need help for her to stop helping. And she doesn't know how to help in moderation, it always ends up getting most of her focus these days.

She turns the burner down so that she can walk over to him and peek over his shoulder.]

Don't jostle it so much! Or use a strainer to catch it if you can't keep it in the bowl.

[Hadn't expected to be caught again; summarily pinkens and mirrors Asbel's expression.]

Ah— I can check. [ it feels a little like snooping, and she is clearly hesitant ] There's still coffee left over, if you'd prefer it.

Sophie is the girl living here?

Well, actually it isn't for me. See there's this girl in one of the bedrooms who has a really bad cold. I told her I'd bring some tea back.

[And he forgot to ask if she had second or third choices. In hindsight that might have been a good idea.]

I'd appreciate it if you could. I don't mind helping you look, but I'm not too sure where they keep everything in here.

[Hopefully Kaneis had no further use for that knight, because Asbel has just hauled it off the field, but the odds still don't look great. For Asbel, of course. Poor vassal...]

To be honest, it feels kind of restrictive compared to magic carta or watching a round of shotcube. But if you want a challenge later, you should ask Hubert for a game.

For a cold? Mm, then tea would be best. [ turns to the cupboards, making her considerations before opening any ] Is she all right?

[Curry can provide anything that rice omelettes have got and then some!]

Maybe so, but it can't hurt to look into it, right? Although, it does make me curious about what other people have found out and tried already. I wonder if they have public meetings for that kind of thing?

[Asbel scratches his head, thinking back to anything he's learned that might be remotely useful.]

Collette also mentioned something about a lot of the Transports having come from other versions of this world. Maybe something happened here that didn't happen on those other Earths?

Only a third? That's a shame. [She puts her hands on her hips, listening.] I don't think the knights on my world had academies. It doesn't sound that bad, actually, if you're into that sort of thing.

Did you graduate?
