Summary: Holding a dinner so we can all get to know each other, this should end terribly.

[This month's haul of transports seemed to bring in a lot of familiar faces for the residents of 103. Friends, family, comrades, terrifying generals who are your boss now- all sorts! ]

[It was Sophie's idea to hold a dinner. A dinner of family, for everyone to have a chance to meet each other and get to know each other better. It seemed like a nice way to welcome everyone into this horrible war. But hey, food! And so, Allen and Sophie made sure to invite their friends, family and comrades in order to have a warm evening together]

[And Kaneis, well, at least he isn't climbing out the back window at the prospect of social interaction for hours. This my friends, is progress. ]

[But gather around friends and family and terrifying boss! There's food, people, wine and games to be had! Just you know, try not to cough in it you sick jerks]

[Yeah, that might complicate things a little bit. But why's she all red? She doesn't have a fever does she?]

I imagine training would be, too. Sword instruction's mandatory for knights, but don't ninjas have to learn how to use a whole collection of both traditional and non-traditional weapons? And then I guess there's things like sneaking in and scaling walls, right? Oh, but I guess you're not allowed to talk about all that...

Well, it's not just that. If the President agrees to Hubert's proposal, then I'll be reinstated as lord. I want to show everyone that I can handle the job.

[Sheena is surprised to find out that he... actually has some idea of what being a ninja entails! Wow. Even people from her world don't know. But maybe ninjas are a universal thing.]

Hehe. If I told you the secrets of my clan, I'd have to kill you.

[She says it mildly and with a kidding smile, but who knows.]

Wait, lord? You're a noble on top of all that? [Color her impressed.] So even though you could've been a knight, you thought you had to serve in a different way?

[Considering the source of that knowledge is the previously mentioned comic book series, chances are Asbel's expectations aren't totally accurate. For instance, isn't it bad for her to be revealing her identity in the first place? Shouldn't she have her face covered at all times? And where's she hiding her feared laser saber, able to take out fifteen men with one clean swipe?]

Huh? Ah--um, right. Of course. [Head scratch.]

Well, it's not exactly like that. You see, when I was young, something terrible happened, and I decided the only way to become strong was to leave home and join the knights. But then after Dad died, I realized I couldn't just walk away from my responsibilities as his firstborn son. The rest is sort of complicated, but it led to my resignation.

Besides, it's not possible to be both a lord and a member of the knights. But even if things don't work out, I can still find ways to support both Windor and Lhant.

[Wow, this guy really has things figured out. She doesn't know what it's like to have a father, but she has her grandpa, which is the next best thing.]

[She adjusts her gloves, dropping eye contact briefly.]

It's probably not my place to say, but you seem like you're kind and strong even with everything you went through. ... I wish more nobles were like you.

[Even though he says that, honestly his father's passing still occupies his thoughts. Particularly how they never got to know each other, and also, what he would have done in Asbel's situation.]

Oh. Well... [Seriously, where'd that come from? Asbel rubs the back of his head, obviously embarrassed.] ...I don't know about all that.

Are nobles on your world that bad? I mean, I suppose there are always ambitious people seeking political gain regardless of others, but you make it sound like it's really a problem.

[Sheena glances away.]

On my world, there's a huge gap between commoners and nobles. The nobility runs everything without caring about those less fortunate... and the commoners all live in the slums, or they run away from the capital to live in other places.

We're trying to change how the nobility thinks and acts, but it takes time.

Yeah... [Asbel looks down.]

It sounds as if they're completely ignoring their responsibilities to the people who live on and work the lands under their jurisdiction. The nobility are supposed to aid the common people and make sure that everything continues running smoothly, not oppress them. Without that kind of understanding, everything would just fall apart.

[Which is exactly what seems to be happening in this situation.]
