CLOSED.
Date & Time: July 9th
Location: Courtyard.
Characters: Starting with Lavi & Collette, later joined by the lovely Yu Kanda, Tyki Mikk and (eventual cameo appearance of) Oz Vessalius.
Summary: Lavi returns to Exsilium after a horrendous visit home and needs some help.
Warnings: gross eyeball parasites, hands being stuck in bodies and deals being made with unsavory people??
[ It's a miracle he hasn't passed out by now, really. Not only was he in excruciating pain thanks to whatever the hell they put inside him, but Sheril flinging him into a wall hadn't helped matters nor had the sudden flood of memories upon his abrupt arrival back into Exsilium. It's all rather overwhelming to say the least, but it's with stubborn tenacity that he clings to consciousness. He needs to get to his comrades— if they were still here, that is. He has no way of telling how long he's been gone for and it's not a thought he can afford to linger on either way. Not when he's only barely capable of thought.
Unfortunately it's perhaps two steps he manages to take (more like stumble) into the courtyard before he collapses against the nearest wall, sliding right back into a slumped seat, panting for breath. He wasn't going to go anywhere like this any time soon.

She's been here so long, too, it smooths some things over by her asking after families and her quiet paying hire costs without being asked. It's been hell. People've lost friends and family.
She needs to get out as Terri again soon, much as she half doesn't want to.
Lavi is an unexpected encounter on her way back in. She flicks her hand over the controls of her automatic wheelchair, turning around and coming to a stop by Lavi's side. )
Don't tell me you're an untreated asthmatic, Lavi, 'cause that is definitely no good!
( She smiles, worry creasing her brow enough to be evident. )
You don't look good.

Lifting his head feels like too much effort, but he glances over at her from the corner of his eye and he surprises himself with the way the corners of his mouth twitch up into a wry smile. ]
No. Took . . . a little trip home.
[ He needs to— something. He needs help, specific help, and his brain is scrambling trying to figure it out. But Collette's here and, as much as he wishes she didn't have to see him in this state, it makes for a good start. Right now staying conscious was most important.
It's with effort, but he manages to lift his arm enough to reach for her just to have something to physically hold on to and keep him here now that Bookman's presence was no longer by his side to do so. ]
no subject
Yeah, that was more Collette's style. )
Looks like it was a long fall down.
( She glances around, looking for anyone in the courtyard. She can pull out her tablet -- if she has it on her, and she feels her stomach clench as she suspects she might have left it at home on her desk. She can call out or get help that way, too -- and if those fail, and he needs moving faster, she could morph to assist.
Probably as Caesar. She wasn't ready to reveal Terri as her own personal Native act, at least not yet. Even if Lavi's never met her. )
We should see about getting you back up and checked out!

But he can't send Collette into Tyki's clutches. Not alone. He has to think hard to remember what time points his comrades were from. Kanda and Miranda had been wearing the same uniform he was wearing now so they had to be closest. He can't send Miranda Tyki's way either, but Kanda . . . Kanda could handle that. He would understand.
He'd shake his head if he could, but all he can do is make some protesting noise in the back of his throat. Being moved is a very unappealing prospect, it's doubtful he could keep his precarious hold on his consciousness for that long. No. He needs to stay conscious if he's to persuade Tyki to help him somehow. Getting the parasite out was most important considering it could also blow up at any given moment. ]
N-no. I need you . . . to do something for me . . . please.
[ Talking is hard, but he presses on, giving her arm a light tug. ]
Get Yu Kanda. Unit . . . [ Oh, c'mon. He was good at numbers, he never forgot those. Think, think. ] 904. Tell him— I'm not kidding this time and he needs to . . . bring Tyki Mikk. He has to.
[ Kanda should understand what he means with 'not kidding' (he actually was dying this time, suffice to say) and asking for Tyki would drive the importance home. It has to. ]

This is the more frightening kind, not knowing what's causing Lavi to barely be able to speak, and why it needs to be these two men (Kanda she knows, she recalls him in the rain, in the caverns), and another name with which she isn't familiar.
She shoots Lavi a smile. )
904? Sure. I'm on it! Just don't think too hard on how I'll be getting there.
( He won't see. Collette reaches for her stop watch, pressing down and starting her morph at the same time. She needs time, and she has a way of pausing it as many times as she needs to before she passes out from exhaustion.
Though what she morphs isn't something, or someone, she's ever done before. Caesar has been the realm of himself, and she'd left that untouched, frankly weirded out by the fact she could turn into him if needed, but she needed hands, she needed working legs, and Kanda might recognize Caesar. He had no reason to recognize or trust Terri.
She sets off at a sprint, a lopsided smile temporarily on her face because she remembers this each time she morphs human -- that ease of movement, when you pick up and go, and it makes it easier to relate to how hard it was for those who lost movement later in life to have lost something like this, and how easier it had been for her before she knew what it was she missed out on -- a smile that fades into determination as she feels time re-establish and she's already on the apartment stairwell. Each time she uses her weapon, she feels the drain, but it seems inconsequential with this much adrenaline rushing through her system.
In a matter of seconds, literal seconds, she's moved from Lavi's side to Kanda's door. Knocking with her fist, she calls out with Caesar's voice. )
Yu Kanda! Are you there? Lavi's in trouble, he's asking for you and someone named Mikk --
( Please answer the door. Without one, she'd call out in her mental voice too. )
no subject
It's sheer luck that Collette got him in the flat, instead of him being off to throw a few swings in the training room. The knock is heard almost immediately, a sharp reaction, especially to the words outside the door.
He doesn't recognize the voice, however, and what those words are - well, that can't be right, can it?
He's quick to swing it open, Mugen at hand as it always was. There's a glare that's already hardened onto the person. The person he can't say he recognized. ] What the hell did you just say?
[ There's a threat rolling in a growl because did this guy just ask for that Noah and say Lavi was asking for them both in one breath? Answered needed to come quickly; he was not one for patience, and if Lavi really was in some sort of trouble. Well. Problems, and problems. ]
no subject
You heard me, we need to go! Lavi can't even stand, he was as weak as a kitten holding on to me earlier. Come on, and whatever you do, don't get weirded out by what you don't hear.
( She gestures for him to come forward, pivoting around and starting back down the hall. )
Don't make me hold your hand!
( Her glance back over her shoulder -- his glance back over his shoulder -- is worried and distressed. The nervous energy she feels close to radiates off her. )
Because I totally will!
( And she presses down on her stopwatch. She focuses on Kanda so intently she feels like a headache's coming on, and the drain is that much more notable on her system.
To Kanda, the world's gone unnaturally silent but for their own breathing and the pounding of their hearts, then Collette's feet shifting on the carpet. It was how her time stopping worked, killing everything carried in the normal flow of time. Sound, breezes, raindrops -- all paused. It's entirely unnerving and not the best of ideas in the best of times, but she doesn't want to waste time convincing when it comes to illness.
Lavi's not Caesar (she is, for the moment, much as that's not actually true), but sick and ill from the healthy, even without all of June at her back, tied her stomach into knots. Especially sudden. Especially when Lavi is this weak. )
I stopped time. We have two minutes tops before it catches up again. Lavi's down in the courtyard. Where can we find this Tyki Mickey Mikk or whatever person?
( She's still moving, and it's moving away from Kanda. Come on she wants to scream, but she holds back for now, because shock on shock on shock even strikes her as a tactically moronic. You know, more so than what she's been doing.
C'est la vie. )
no subject
The fact that a stranger has come to deliver the news is as much worrying as it is unnerving, and there is admittedly a beat of considering this another sly trick. But with all of Kanda's lack of perceptiveness, or perhaps unwillingness to it, he would need to be entirely blind to not see the anxiety of the other in front of him. It's easy to recognize, even he rarely shows it, and there's already a scowl forming as he's stepping out of the apartment, grip tight on the sword at his side.
It's suffice to say by the narrow-eyed glare he's giving that it would be unwise, if not suicidal, for the guy to try and take Kanda's hand. Or, err, for Collette to do so. ] I'm going already, you annoying brat!
[ But then he's warning Kanda about not being surprised about not hearing and he's about to demand a clarification but he's already stopping dead in his tracks from the sudden absence of everything but the too-loud beating of their hearts and it's unsettling and aggravating and he doesn't appreciate this. It's disorienting, to add, though he's always been quick to recover. The explanation she gives is accepted - stopping time; that woman's Innocence does the same thing, right? - and he doesn't need to ask any more questions. Not now, anyway.
Stiffly, he's giving a single shake of his head, letting the habitual frown curl his features. Twisting more at the mention of Tyki Mickey Mikk. If it were anyone else, maybe they would've pointed out the humor in that mistake.
But this was Kanda. THere was no point in correcting that, because he couldn't give a damn what that man was called. ( and yelling at him would've never really worked, anyway. )
Besides, why was Lavi asking for him, too? But there's a nod, still. ] He's on this floor.
[ Tact isn't in his dictionary of understanding, so when the guy (not) tells him to find the other one, Kanda is turning, and because he isn't sure which room Tyki is in, he's snarling out the yell. ] Oi. Noah. Get out here.
no subject
When he hears the roar he sighs so deeply. He would love to just ignore the yell, but that sounds like an irate Exorcist of some kind so he'd better not unless he wants the door being busted in. He picks himself up, leaves his apartment, and then literally comes through the front door - torso hanging halfway out of it without the door actually being opened.]
What - [And then he sees there's a group. Immediately he's sizing the lot of them up, gold eyes narrowing. He's not actually sure whether the whole merry band is Exorcists or not.]
no subject
We'll need all of you, Mister Mickey, not just your upper half --
( And a come hither gesture coming from the small red haired guy standing down the hall and looking tired, antsy, and worried. )
I don't know if I can hold this, so please, move?
( It's a strain, and she feels it. Tyki's pulled into the timestop as firmly as she can, and that's definitely a headache pounding behind her eyes. Oh man. This is like migraine territory!
She finds part of herself excited that she can do this at all, as Tyki is treated to the same sudden silence from all around but the three people Collette keeps running when time's taken a break. )
Lavi's collapsed in the courtyard and he wants Yu and you so can we please get going?
( Panting after the burst of speech, Collette looks between both dark haired men, then turns and strides for the stairs at the nearest end of the hall. Short, determined, and still losing all the explanation awards. )

The Noah is going through the door and there's another flicker of rising irritation and a cool stare returned. There's curiosity too, beneath that, as to the why. Why did they at all have to bother with a Noah?
But this situation called for a lack of attack and lack of questions and Kanda's lip is twisting in contempt, thumb passing idly over Mugen's sheath. Providing an actual response proved a little more difficult, words out with a click of his tongue and a reminder that they were pressed on time.
A reminder that he didn't know what the fuck was going on and that this was Lavi involved and (never to be admitted) this wasn't a comrade we wanted to lose. ( He still needed to spar that idiot. ) ]
[ But, he does take the time to snap his head back to Ceasar's body, sharpen a stare and snarl out his retort. At least he didn't draw his blade, but the threat is presupposed. ] Do not ever call me that again. [ How did this guy even know his name?! Oh. Right. Lavi. Of course. ]
[ And then, attention snapped back to the Noah. ] You heard him. You're being called on. [ A beat. ] Courtyard. So hurry Up.
[ Because this is how to ask for things, right? Right. He's taking a step after the other, but isn't walking yet. Waiting for Tyki to walk first. Best keep an eye on someone you don't trust, no matter the urgency.]

What for?

But Lavi thinks he's important, and clearly he didn't want Kanda for his sweet tender loving care, so some combination of the both of them was necessary. She comes to a stop in front of Tyki, hands on her -- his -- hips. She quirks up an eyebrow, still smiling. )
Lavi. The guy who's collapsed down in the courtyard. So please, turn out to be a greedy power or money grubbing jerk later, but for now, be a fast one, and stop wasting the time I'm giving you! It's really rude you know. Neither of you know how to treat a lady!
( An indignant, amused huff.
... And a belated realization she is most definitely not a lady right now.
... Whoops. She feels herself blushing, and she laughs it off, taking a step toward Tyki again and trying to get a good look at his face )
Please? He asked for you -- both of you. And Yu -- ( Sorry, Kanda, she has a short attention span sometimes ) -- doesn't want you along. That's not interesting enough for you, whoever you are? Geez, way to miss a chance to be an annoying and necessary nuisance!
no subject
It would be so much easier to drag the bastard to the courtyard, but noahs weren't akuma; they were hardier, however he disliked to acknowledge, and this wasn't the time for a long fight.
There's a disgruntled look at the lady remark - he doesn't want to know, alright? - and the start of a hissed 'I don't give a damn' before he has to grind his teeth almost to the point where its loud at the use of his first name again. That name shouldn't be used, and only a few others could get away with it. Not that he thought he had to explain why to anyone at any point.
He doesn't like either of you very much at the moment, and he has half a mind to just walk to the courtyard by himself.
(But then, Tyki had to come, isn't that what Lavi wanted? )
In fact though, now he's turning to walk past Ceaserllette, before taking a beat to glare over his shoulder. ] Last chance to come along before I slice off your arm, Noah.
[ Or until he walks off, but. He isn't nearly docile enough to say that. ]
no subject
Maybe Collette's words reached him. In fact they did, terribly enough, and he looks like he just finds it so funny. He wants to buttonwhole this strange person for a few questions all of a sudden.
The chance to be a giant nuisance to Kanda isn't hurting his inclination to go along, he supposes...]
Just a minute. [And he steps back into his room, because he just can't be not a douche about it. At least a second later, he's strolling back out again, a box of matches tucked in his palm. A strike, flame catches, and a cigarette is lit. :) Now he can go.]
no subject
Finally!
She resets their clock once on the stairs, a rush of sound breaking over all of them before the absolute, stunning, isolating silence hits just as fast. It's stark how much everything they do both does and doesn't echo, and the few people they pass are like frozen statues of life, caught in a still frame between one nanosecond and the next. Collette runs by, heart racing and pulse pounding far harder than it should be for what she'd done coming down the stairs. Nine floors is decent, but she was acting like she'd run most of a marathon. No, a triathalon, having just pulled herself up out of the water after her swim.
In fact, she was sweating, leading the way for both others on merit of knowing where she'd left Lavi in the courtyard. Out of the door, she jogs, swallowing past the taste of iron in her throat.
Collette depresses the knob on her stopwatch again with a fumbling hand as she came down ungracefully to her knees by Lavi's side. Her chair was in reaching distance, but right now, with the sound rollilng back in with scent and the sheer presence of time, everything was overwhelming and disconcerting. She reached out for Lavi with one hand, speaking with Thought Speak to Lavi alone. )
< I've got them both. Kanda and Mickey, Tikki, Teaki? Yu and Mikk, they're here now! >
( Worry weaves into her mental voice along with an exhaustion almost tangible. Keeping three people under the influence of her weapon was unheard of. Maintaining that for repeated cycles was ridiculous. She didn't have the resources yet, probably wouldn't for months, but it'd seemed worth it.
To Lavi, it must appear as if she were only gone a fraction of the time she'd been gone, almost impossibly fast.
Also looking a hell of a lot like her boyfriend, for all her mental voice was very much Collette. She was breathing hard and fast, trying to calm her heartbeat down to something respectable even as her arm, trembling with adrenaline, was outstretched for Lavi. She hopes he knows what he was asking for. )

2015, 2050, 2090 . . .
Sudden movement by his side makes him open his eye, Collette's voice in his head a welcome relief (was that really fast or was it just him?) except when he glances over it's . . . Caesar? Lavi's brows knit together in obvious confusion, but now is not the time to question it. There's a hand being reached for him and he finds himself taking it all the same. It's still Collette's voice in his head, so: ]
Thanks . . .
[ The gratitude he feels is greater than he can express at the moment, he knows it can't have been easy to get them both to come along. He'd have to thank her (and/or Caesar?) properly later. For now . . .
He manages to tilt his head back, dully thudding against the wall but it's not a pain he feels, it's nothing compared to the burning pain that's searing throughout his entire body, and his eye lands on the welcome sight of Kanda. He smiles a smile that isn't so much a smile, more a pained toothy grimace than anything. But an effort was made! ]
Y-yo, Yu.
[ With Kanda's presence acknowledged, his not-smile falls away when his gaze moves to Tyki. Technically the one person he really (grudgingly) needs right now. Kanda's just here to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't do anything. Lavi can only hope Kanda will do just that without too much fuss. He hates the words that are about to leave his mouth, loathes the fact he's about to ask a Noah for help. But it couldn't be helped. There's a halting breath to steel himself before he cuts to the chase, eye remaining solemnly fixed on Tyki. ]
Your brother— Fiidora . . . put something inside me. I'd . . . appreciate it very much— if you could get it out.

He looks worse than Kanda seen him sick last. Much worse and it only serves to drive the simmering anger higher, as questions rose in his mind. And he didn't often have questions.
There's a click of his tongue at the use of his first name, but there's little reason to lash out because honestly, Lavi looks like he might fall apart from the lightest tap.
He's sidling closer to the other exorcist to hover against the wall as one hand encircles Mugen's sheath, slightly pulling at the blade as he watches the Noah; interest entirely lost in the boy that led them here. That wasn't dangerous. That wasn't as annoying or as much a nuisance. Tyki was unpredictable; therefore necessary to be watched.
Until Lavi speaks, that is, and his head is snapping to the redhead, briefly wide eyed with disbelief and distaste and confused irritation. So the Noah were responsible for this state in the first place. ] What?!
[ There's a beat where he nearly unsheathes Mugen on instinct, but. A fight would not solve a thing, and he doubts his blood's regenerative properties would do any good anyway, if, say, he decided to try and kick Tyki out ( this wasn't like Marie that time, was it? ). If he were to even consider the possibilities. So he eases the sword back, before sharing his opinion in a hiss: ] You're a damned idiot, Lavi.
[ What are you doing asking for help from a Noah? What Kanda does know, however, is that Lavi had always had his own reasons, in the end. But distrust coils from his tense shoulders. Lets hope you know what you're doing. He may not understand the entirety of Lavi's logic, but he understands the need for Tyki. Understands the need to his presence, in case things go awry. He doesn't know which fact he dislikes more.
But this wasn't the time to talk this through ( not that Kanda actually does the talking thing all that well, anyway ). All that was clear about Kanda right now is that he is a fuse ready to snap, a silently seething presence. Carry on. ]
no subject
Then his attention turns to Lavi. It probably is NOT a nice feeling, as a dark grin slowly spreads over his face and he comes closer, kneeling on the ground to take Lavi's face in his hand and turn it roughly towards him.]
It's you, eh? I remember you...
[Lavi's response to the General, and his appearance now, make the correlation an easy one.]
no subject
( Collette snaps without thinking, concerned face still trained on Lavi and holding on to him like it'll help anchor him here. It's a neat little problem, probably something parasitic, though she has no idea how a brother of Tyki's would place it in Lavi, or why Tyki's the surgeon to get it back out.
Wait. The ghosting through the door thing. Could he do that through everything? He hadn't bisected, maybe he could. Collette's eyes turn to Tyki, face serious and solemn, slightly more suitable for Caesar than the rest of what she's been showing. )
There's no need to be. Please, Mr. Mikk, if you can do what he's asking, make it happen. Take out whatever's inside him messing him up like this.
( Privately, she adds to Lavi -- she doesn't want to startle Kanda, or give Tyki anything else to be distracted by; )
< If he messes around, I will totally give him a wedgie he'll never see coming! >
( Because the ridiculous can be better than an actual threat, some of the time. )
no subject
Especially so at that horrid grin and at his face being grabbed, the rough motion sending an even sharper jolt of pain through his body causing him to wince. The urge to spit in his face is there, but he's trying to get in Tyki's good graces here and since that wouldn't help his case in the slightest, he abstains. Instead he keeps himself still, offering no resistance as he meets Tyki's gaze as evenly as he can. The only thing he does is move his free hand with effort, holding it in a halting gesture Kanda's way because no doubt he'll be about to snap, before it finds its way to Tyki's wrist. His fingers curling around it in a light grip.
As much as he appreciates Collette's concern and the ridiculous threat, he squeezes her hand in warning before letting go entirely. A silent 'Don't. Stay away'. It's bad enough that she's involved in this and anywhere near Tyki, there's no need to make it worse by catching his attention. As for himself . . .
He knows he has to make this appealing for Tyki somehow, he needs to be able to gain something from this. Why else would he ever help out an Exorcist? There's virtually nothing Lavi can offer, save for: ]
I'll owe you— a favor. I'll give you my word . . . as Bookman Junior.
[ Because Tyki doesn't know who he is at this point, does he? Aside from some kid he fed. It's the best Lavi can offer, even if he finds himself questioning his status as Bookman Junior right now. (Damn the Old Man and his habit of never telling him anything important.) It's all he has. His word as Bookman Junior still holds more value than as an Exorcist.
And oh, how he hates himself for what's about to leave his mouth again. ]
S-so, please.
no subject
A knowledge that holds on to frail strings, especially at the Noah's rough pull and if not for Lavi's halting gesture, his sword would've keep completely out of its sheath again with the step he takes forward, instead of having its blood-red blade gleam only halfway.
There's a scowl, a sharp and slow exhale out, and he's glaring at them both; at Lavi for stopping him and at the Noah for his very presence. He was looking for a reason, alright? ] Tch.
[ He doesn't offer any words. Doesn't tell him to back off, or try and convince Tyki to help, like the other sprout is doing beside Lavi; ( fights the urge to even tell him to shut up, even ).
Lavi speaks and Kanda considers - humorously, and inappropriately for this time - that maybe running Lavi through would be a better idea, considering who the moron was trying to strike a deal with in the first place.
No, not a deal. Be indebt. Kanda may not know a whole lot about Bookmen; frankly, he wasn't about to care all that much. But he knew enough to realize how much Lavi was offering up just by the sound of it.
So maybe it was for those facts alone that Mugen remains half-drawn. ]
no subject
The tension in his grip slacks away some, he almost strokes at Lavi's angry face with his fingers. Enjoying.]
You sure know how to sweeten a deal, eh, Exorcist? [A Bookman's favor isn't to be sniffed at! Even the favor of a Bookman Junior.]
Well... if it's like that, I'll see what I can do.
no subject
She doesn't need to mention anything further to Lavi, but does regardless. )
< I have a lot of questions for you, mister, when you're feeling better. >
( She keeps her mental tone light, helped by her smiling as she looks toward Lavi's face. It's not the she thinks he can see her, or see her as Caesar, smiling off to his side. It just helps her sound as light and teasing as she wants to sound. )
Be careful.
( Light words, delivered by a voice that does speak lightly, for different reasons. Collette made an absolutely terrible stand in for Caesar.
It's difficult to determine which of the three of them she may actually be addressing her words to. But she waits, and as she waits she snakes a hand back out to rest against Lavi, needing the physical contact as much as she wants him to be grounded when Tyki does whatever it is he'll be doing to remove the parasite. )
no subject
He has no idea what Tyki would ask of him in return, but a Bookman's favor at the very least meant knowledge. Complete impartial knowledge, a summation of facts. Essentially a peek into records no other being was allowed to look at. And if that is what Tyki would ask for, Lavi would give it, impartial and true. If he didn't die, Bookman would surely kill him for that alone, but Bookman's not here and right now Lavi's very much in the mindset to say screw it. Screw it all. He's only Bookman Junior and it's become apparent that he knows nothing of the important things so why does it matter? It's almost like a petty revenge, really. Although all the same, he's sure he'll come to regret this, but there's just no other way. Collette's voice in his head almost makes him want to laugh.
You and Yu both.
He'd owe it to them, later. For now getting the dammed thing out took priority before it killed him or worse, exploded and took out more than just him. He taps his chest, his right side just where the center of his right lung is, where the pain is most intense and seems to radiate from. ]
It's there.
[ With that pointed out, he lets his body go slack, too exhausted to even stay tense. He's very much at Tyki's mercy here — but perhaps not entirely. Kanda's by his side and if Tyki decides to go for his heart instead . . . well then Lavi could die assured there would be hell to pay. He's prepared to face this burden alone, but Collette's touch makes it so he doesn't have to and he takes quiet comfort in that despite himself.
He tilts his head back as far as he can, eye falling on Kanda for a brief apologetic look that can't convey enough before he's closing his eye with a soft exhale. Let's get this over with. ]
no subject
If the word of caution Collette had given was intended for him, as much as it was for Tyki, it goes unacknowledged as he levels his weight, moves to hover nearer in silent reminder. Hell to pay was an accurate assurance, if things took the turn for the worst. He took out a Noah once before ( a fact Tyki is unaware of, just as Kanda is equally unaware of the Noah's timeline ).
With jaw harshly set and chin raised high, Kanda watches. ] Just give me a reason, Noah. [ It's clipped and low, though not entirely a threat as much as simply a statement. To ascertain his vanguard presence by Lavi's side.
( He won't do anything if you won't! )]
