party rock is in the house tonight

Date & Time: Backdated to sometime before Emil leaves
Location: Unit 103
Characters: Too many people idek. Roommates, Asch, Emil, Asbel, & Christopher??
Summary: Legitimate fixes to the apartment that do not involve duct tape plus a dinner!!
Warnings: I think this entire cast is a warning.

[After the whole duct tape fiasco, or maybe because of it, they'd finally gotten someone to agree to repairing it. And since they have extra guests, it makes senses to do something like a family dinner, right? Only probably is that they don't really have the space for that even, but it won't stop them from trying! If they could cram that many people in the apartment last time, this should be considerably easier. So after some finagling, a dinner had been set up! This is that dinner.

Set up will be in the comments! Tag around, get CR, HAVE FUN. ]

[KITCHEN | DINING/MINGLING | WALL...FIXING??]

I didn't mean it like that...! But, you know, most people have a flower that means something special to them, right? [He guesses.] And we'd have to start somewhere if we're going to plant them around the place...

[The last sentence elicits a sigh. What was that all about if Christopher really does have a favorite? Asbel blinks at him, like he's halfway expecting another "graceful lecture" about how he was just incredibly rude or something.]

...The daisy is?

[What he gets instead is Christopher brightening up.] If not the daisy, then the dandelion. I wouldn't want to live anywhere that you can't grow either or both of them.

They seem like cheerful varieties of flowers.

[And resilient. He's pretty sure he's seen them both around a lot, growing all over Lhant Hill and various other fields and hillsides throughout Windor. And he knows he's kicked and stomped on his share of dandelions as a kid - he's definitely not going to mention that part, though.]

[Smartening up there, Asbel.

Except that you gave Christopher a point to leap off of.]
Flowers are ideal for rumination on every emotion, from happiness to despair. One might stare at a sunflower and admire the unity of its appearance, name, and behaviour, thereby comprehending the unity of all the world! At the same time, looking upon a venus flytrap my reveal to one the great secret of the ruthlessness of evolution. What is a daisy but the sweet memory of innocence and the sad awareness of its loss? Is a dandelion anything less than the hope and hopelessness of a wish? By looking on a flower, do we not look into ourselves?

My, that was inspired, wasn't it? You should write it down for posterity.

[You troll us even in your edits. Christopher, plz.]

Um. So in other words, a person can pretty much take whatever they want away from admiring a flower, right? Depending on their perspective and where they are in their lives? [Kind of like art? Which is probably why he doesn't know much about it and why he finds it so difficult to understand. Antique vases. Abstract paintings. Complicated classical pieces. Ehhh.]

So... [And he's almost afraid to ask.] What about sopherias?

[Christopher stops.

Thinks.

Tilts his head.]

Never heard of 'em.

You haven't? Really?

[But they're pretty common. At least at home they are...]

Never ever. You'll have to tell me about them straightaway.

Well, they're purple flowers - kind of similar to daisies, I guess. And if you take care of them and plant enough together in one place, then when the sopherias reach the end of their blooming cycle they'll form a blossomgale. Or so I hear.

Umm. [Asbel tries to remember.] It supposedly happens once the flowers have fully matured. The sopherias begin glowing one after another, and then their petals are released into the air to be blown elsewhere. Kind of like a sparkling wind.

That's probably where the name comes from.
