Characters: Zelos/Kaneis and you!
Summary: Evening/Night shift at the clinic. All welcomed, whether they be checking out the clinic, working at the clinic or that unfortunate dude who put their weapon in a very wrong spot.
Warnings: PG-13 for language and possible gore since hey IT IS A CLINIC.

[No matter how strange Zelos's life get, he can always count on his clinic shifts being one of two things: incredibly boring or incredibly strange. There was no middle ground.]

[Any night that you come in, you'll probably find Zelos sitting at the reception desk, with his feet on top if none of his bosses are around. If he's not attending to any patients or talking to staff, he seems to be reading- looks like the flavor of this month for literature is fantasy. And sometimes, he even seems to be talking to the book]

Oh come on Buttercup my beautiful flower, there's no way he'll actually release him. Jeez...

[And so on. Rest assured guys, this is a professional medic here. You can tell by the lab coat. ]

[ After getting himself mostly settled in and his questions more or less answered, Jude did the one thing he could think of doing here. He went and found the clinic he'd overheard people mentioning.

He hasn't given up on looking for a way out of this world, but he's also realizing there's only so much time you can dedicate to sitting around trying to think up possible escape methods, and sometimes you need something else to occupy your free time. Besides, even if he's got his own world to take care of, that doesn't mean he doesn't still want to offer the people here what help he can, so...

Here he was ready to volunteer his time, only to come across this guy.

He's not exactly sure what he's reading, but Jude approaches the desk and clears his throat. ]

Excuse me.

[Here's a new face. And a bit pale at that. There's a slightly shaky teenager standing there staring, a little too dazed and confused to actually attempt to sign in or any such thing. He just watches this conversation with the book for a moment, apparently puzzled. Finally, he clears his throat. Hello?]

No. Alvin lied about it being a one of a kind scarf

[He hears the guy come in, though he doesn't respond until he reaches the desk. What? It didn't sound like he was hacking up a long or lost a limb. But when he speaks, he'll look up and close the book- holding his place with his finger]

Yo. How can I help you?

[Yeah he's noticing the weird...standing thing going on in the corner of his eye. When the throat clears, he'll look up- oh good it's not a boss!]

Oh hey there! How can I help you?

Are you trying to suggest Alvin is a liar? PERISH THE THOUGHT!

[ How does a person sound like they lost a limb? Like what would that sound even be? Endless screaming?

And wow, this guy isn't even planning on fully putting the book down? Jude's not entirely sure what he thinks about that, but he's sure he'd be given hell for something like that when on clinic duty. He's still managing a smile here. ]

Yeah. Hi. Uh. I...do you have some...

[The kid shakes his head, losing his train of thought, and shrugs apologetically.]

I don't feel so hot. You guys can fix that here, right?

MAYBE I AM!!

[Pretty much! And going "oh god oh god my arm" or sounding like they are hopping on one foot]

And what he doesn't want to go digging for a bookmark for you Jude. Not unless he needs to sew something back on]

That's right. Is there something we can help you with- you don't seem you're injured...

Well, we can sure try.

[He puts down the book]

What seems to be the problem?

[Tempest isn't much for spending her time in the clinic in one place; she wanders, through the halls, back and forth. And idle energy that comes from being a traveler and being unaccustomed to remaining in one place. Which is why she finds herself in the front of the reception desk, lost in thought, until Zelos' comment snaps her out of it.

She pauses, considers the feet on the desk, then arches a brow. Professional]

HOW COULD YOU? SWEET INNOCENT ALVIN OF ALL PEOPLE!

[ Okay, the point has been made. There is a sound of losing a limb.

And wow! Come on, he might not be an attractive woman, but he's at least worth a bookmark :( OUCH, BUDDY.

He shakes his head and holds a hand up. ]

I'm not, but I wasn't sure exactly how to go about offering to help out here.

[ Hesitating for a minute. ]

Is there anyone I should talk to specifically about this? I've only worked at the clinic connected to my school before, so I've never actually done anything like this before.

[Good, that sounds promising. Stanley relaxes just a little.]

Kinda dizzy today. You know like when you stand up too fast? Like that.

[He had noticed Tempest was a wanderer with her own bored energy. Everyone spent the time differently he guesses. He glances up whens he speaks, not at all reacting to the raised eyebrow because hey, that's a normal expression people wear at him]

Oh- character in the book. There's some evil guy that's captured her true love or whatever, and she's all 'I'll marry you evil guy if you let him go!'

You know, like that's actually going to happen.

Oh, one of those types of stories?

[she rolls her eyes, moving closer to lean against the desk] Of course it won't. Does it ever?

BECAUSE I AM A TERRIBLE PERSON

[Aw yeah I win]

[And he looks moderately surprised. This kid seemed so...young. Did they hire kids?]

You wanna help out? Like...treat people or just clean bedpans?

Dizzy, okay. And I take it this isn't normal?

[He gets up from his chair]

What can I say? I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff in fiction.

Never in my recollection. It'd make for a pretty bummer ending.

It is an entertaining read, is it not? [it wasn't her preferred reading, but she'd read a few in her time. Mostly in her childhood]

[Who goes to see someone about something they consider normal, right? But no need to be a dick. He'll just score some acetaminophen or some antacids or something and get out out of this dude's hair.]>/small>

[ That would probably be because the kid was really young, but hey Zelos had a half-pint genius running around with him (before everyone turned around and killed him), so young and brilliant kids shouldn't be surprising to him!

He hesitates again. ]

I'd rather help treat people, but some things came up before I could graduate med school. I've got the knowledge base to treat patients, and while it wasn't technically allowed by the school I've been left on clinic duty by myself before, but... I'm not licensed.

[wilder]

Yep. Sure makes for a nice escape.

[But he'll smile and put down the book]

I don't think we've been formally introduced, I'm Kaneis.

We have not, no. I am Tempest; well met, Kaneis.

Huh. Well, come with me- we can run a few tests and see what you got.

[He'll hold open the door to lead to the exam area]

[Yeah but that kid wouldn't heal people so much as just...burn them to death]

I see. [That explained the age some] Well, I'm actually a mercenary and not an official doctor- so you can say we aren't too picky about official licenses. Don't have the luxury to be.

Still, to work here you got to get through an interview with our leader- Mr. Bloodspeaker. I could get you paperwork though.

[Yep, that was a nervous squeak. The teenager is skinny, but he's tall and sinewy too. It's probably a safe guess that he's used to being healthy. He definitely seems wary of doctors and exams and medical testing.]

Like blood tests?
