Date: December 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room; they show multiple variations of satellite images, focused on... somewhere snowy. It's difficult to say more than that, but those that record heat readings seem to suggest there are people there, where ever "there" is. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now. But, hey, at least all the lights are on, right? No more creepy red emergency lighting upon arrival — not that you'd know anything about that.

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

[Seto is, as always, just short of everywhere, and greeting everyone he passes with a bright smile while doing odd jobs here and there. Friendly? Check. Cheerful? Check. Attractive? Well.... his friends say that he is, so that counts, doesn't it? Mostly check! The interesting thing is that he's actually surprisingly sharp when it comes to noticing the glances of others, and upon realizing that a pair of eyes are on him, he offers a friendly wave to Kougyoku and approaches her without a second thought.]

Hey there! Do you need help with something?

[ Overwhelmed by his friendliness and his sudden interest, Kougyoku steps back quite a bit. ]

No, I'm all right—

[ That's when she trips over her own robes and falls on her butt. ]

Hey, watch out! [Of course, he's far too late to do anything about it, and can't do much more than watch her fall. He must have really shocked her, so the least he can do is extend a hand to help her up.]

Are you alright? I bet it's pretty easy to trip in that, huh?

I don't trip on it often.

[ Only sometimes. Although she makes a point not to look at him, (because gosh, how embarrassing) she takes his hand and pulls herself up. ]

Then I guess I must have startled you pretty badly! Sorry about that.

[He's all smiles, either way, and lets her hand go.] You sure you're okay?

I am. [ She straightens up and looks at him from the corner of her eye. ] You, you shouldn't go around scaring ladies like that.

Sorry, sorry! My bad. I was just trying to help. [It was only an accident, gosh! But he doesn't seem to be very perturbed by it.... does anything get this guy down?]

At least show some remorse...

I, um... thank you, sir.

[ He's still a nice guy. SO. Thanks. Now she doesn't know what to say. ]

Huh? I said I was sorry, but here, let me try to make it up to you somehow! [....But how? He didn't get that far.]

And how? [ No, really. ] Aren't you busy...?

Y'know, I'm not sure! I thought you needed help, but if you don't, how about coming up with something else? I'm just running a few side jobs, so it's no big deal.

Truly? [ She doesn't want to be a bother. ] No, it... it's alright. You are already helping so many people.

As long as you say so, then. [She doesn't seem to be mad, so at least he got out of that.] I'm Kousuke Seto, by the way! Nice to meet you!

[ Making an attempt to look at him now. ]

It's nice to meet you, Sir Seto. [ Sir... ]

Sir? [Wow, that's a new one!] Just Seto is fine, seriously! It's what everyone else calls me.

[Because.... that's his name, wow. But he's right; even his lifelong friends don't use his first name.]

How about you? You have a name, right?

[ Oh yeah, whoops. Habit. After some hesitation, she manages to say, ]

Alright. Seto. ...I'm Kougyoku. [ ... She doesn't know what else she can add to that! So she's giving him the honor of continuing this conversation. ]

Kougyoku-san, then! You have a pretty interesting name, but I bet you get that a lot, huh?

... Only recently. [ Not a lot of people to talk to in the palace and all that! ] Seto sounds mildly foreign to me, I suppose.

Oh, I get it! Then you're not Japanese after all! [Those robes, man. He's never seen anything like them.]

[ She's confused and unsure if she should be offended!? ]

What made you think I was from Japan? I do not wear such loose and unfashionable clothing. [ First impressions of Japan: super thug... ]

[Kougyoku, you're talking to the poster boy of loose and unfashionable clothing.]

Loose and unfashionable, huh? Maybe you've just met the wrong kind of people!

[ In that case— ] I don't want to hear that from you!

[Oh no, now he's laughing. It's impossible to insult this guy.]

Ahaha! Since I work a lot, I like stuff that's easy to move around in. [Like a green jumpsuit with not-goggles in the middle of the sweltering summer heat? Sure. At least the moon is pretty temperate.]

Fancy clothes like yours are really neat, but you'd get some strange looks if you wore them around Tokyo!
