Date: December 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room; they show multiple variations of satellite images, focused on... somewhere snowy. It's difficult to say more than that, but those that record heat readings seem to suggest there are people there, where ever "there" is. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now. But, hey, at least all the lights are on, right? No more creepy red emergency lighting upon arrival — not that you'd know anything about that.

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Welcome to the moon base, and to the remains of Exsilium.

And you know that for certain? Have you seen this phenomena?

[If that's really true, that will... Placate Milla for now. At least a little. She's still really not interested in sticking around this place, but with a focus like hers it's hard to pull back and look at a bigger picture. Mostly because she's focused on the bigger picture for Rieze Maxia and Elympios.]

Yeah I've seen it happen a lot. I've been here for almost a year. I know it's a certainty. Like I said, though, I know that doesn't make it easier to be here when you have something important to do.

You've been here for a year? Just how long have they been fighting this war of theirs?

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2013-12-04 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. People were here for at least a year before me and they made it sound like they weren't the first, either. So... it could have been many years at this point.
cradlerobs: (oh oh oh go a little crazy)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2013-12-04 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
And they're still bringing in strangers to fight for them? They don't sound very smart. Do they not care that by bringing us here they're endangering more worlds than just their own? [Jude had filled her in, and she's still not all that thrilled about the information.]

I'm afraid I can't see eye to eye with this Initiative of yours.

[She can't help smiling ruefully.] There was a mutiny against them not long ago but I don't think that's the way either. I'm not really on a side, though, I just...

[Kido frowns and puts her hands into her pockets.] ...I want everyone to be safe and get out of here fast. We can when the war is over. As long as the UE exists, we're in danger now. Even if we don't want to be like this, well, we're stuck now. So, I just want to end the war and get us all home.
cradlerobs: (but i'm in love with stacy's mom)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2013-12-06 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. [Milla looks distracted for a minute, like she's listening to someone else before she nods her head.] Yes, I understand.

Then we really don't have any other choice but to end this war swiftly. [She adjusts her weight, resting her hands on her hip as she looks back at Kido.] Exactly how much help are we up here?

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2013-12-10 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Maybe she just talks to herself in her head or something to make decisions. It seems like that was what she was doing earlier too.]

Up here? Not much. Uhm... I guess the problems are we don't have a lot of leadership. We've got a goal, you know? Take down the UE. But they're basically the whole planet and we're just us. So it's not really easy. I don't know if we've even made a dent.
cradlerobs: (make no conditions)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2013-12-11 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
So the Initiative needs a proper leader, or at least an experienced tactician. [If Rowen were here, he could probably do it. He'd managed to lead the Rashugal army against Auj Oule's despite the odds not being on their side.]

Without one, this war is going to be lost. Is that correct?

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2013-12-11 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's how I feel about it, yeah. I think everyone's thinking the same thing, too.
cradlerobs: (but i ain't complaining)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2013-12-13 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose there's no one like that here, then. Otherwise, they would have already stepped in to do the job. Or does this Initiative not allow people that sort of position? You mentioned a mutiny- what was the cause of it?
concealingeyes: ([hot gang leader-sama])

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2013-12-13 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's kind of complicated but I guess people were just fed up. It turned out this place wasn't safe. There were monsters. I don't know if the Initiative knew that or not but either way it was a failing.

[She scratches the back of her head.] Well, the Initiative right now is mostly dead. The UE bombing took them out and their priority was getting us to safety. I think... a lot of people are just tired. We're fighting for them even though some of us are barely stronger than a normal person. There's a lot of normal people here. Like, people can fight in other ways but it doesn't really matter if an army attacks you suddenly you know? I think that's the main problem.

I have my own problems with them but like I said, mutiny doesn't seem like the way to me. Mutiny's only really going to work if everyone feels the same way.
cradlerobs: (i wanna have groupies)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2013-12-13 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see how that would be a problem. There's no sense in recruiting inexperienced people to fight in any kind of war. [You know, barring the fact that she had three kids in her party that weren't exactly battle hardened or anything, but shhh. At least they joined by choice.]

If the Initiative's numbers have really dwindled so much, then now would be the best time to find people capable and willing to take charge in this situation and get this war back on track to victory. If there's truly a chance for victory at all. [She seems doubtful with them being chased to a moon and all.]

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2013-12-13 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kido doesn't really see how it's possible either but she can't think of any other option.]

If the thing with Elmer's world hadn't happened, then... it wouldn't be so bad to think we could just take over and get back home. But if the UE could hunt us down, well. We're pretty much stuck finishing this.
cradlerobs: (that i'd do anything)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2014-01-07 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Knowing what they're capable of is more useful than not knowing. This Elmer's world disaster sounds like it was a vital learning experience to know what is truly at stake for recruits here. Has the UE not attempted to follow the Initiative here to finish the job?
concealingeyes: (pic#6706661)

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2014-01-07 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
They haven't. Maybe they figure they killed enough of them and sent a good enough message. It's not entirely wrong... Morale is pretty low. I still believe we can do it somehow if we have enough good leaders and tacticians but... I dunno who among us are good for that.
cradlerobs: (when i grow up be on tv)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2014-01-07 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Then it's time someone figured that out, wouldn't you agree? And if there are too few of them, then it would be time to train willing people for that job. I hardly think people will refuse if it means they can be done with this war they were forced into.
concealingeyes: ([her hoodie is in the wash okay])

[personal profile] concealingeyes 2014-01-08 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's a good point. Maybe we can get them to train some people in what sort of tactics they need. It'd be nice to know how this time travel stuff works.
cradlerobs: (forget i'm a lady)

[personal profile] cradlerobs 2014-01-13 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. Then perhaps we should suggest this to that Initiative, or take it upon ourselves to do it.
