Date: December 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room; they show multiple variations of satellite images, focused on... somewhere snowy. It's difficult to say more than that, but those that record heat readings seem to suggest there are people there, where ever "there" is. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now. But, hey, at least all the lights are on, right? No more creepy red emergency lighting upon arrival — not that you'd know anything about that.

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Oh. Uh.. Guess video games don't exist in your world huh? [he gives her a brief once over, because how does she move in that outfit girls are crazy] The outfits are kinda cool though, not gonna lie... It's a bit like the VR, only instead of it taking up a whole room it just... shows up on a TV screen. It looks a bit like a window? [he makes a gesture with his hands, indicating a box] It's not real though, so you don't get hurt... Well, the character you're playing 'dies' if you run out of health, but you yourself don't get hurt.

Haha, never thought I'd be explaining how a video game worked to someone other than Ted.

So... it is like make-believe. Right? [ She thinks about it before nodding, as if she had come to a decision. ] That's amazing! I'd like to play a video game someday. Clearing a dungeon was great, but a lot of people just die before they reach the end... That's how dangerous it is.

Whoa! That's kinda... intense... Wait though, does that mean you cleared one?

... [an idea] Y'know, I'm sure we can probably ask around to see if someone has a console and a game. Though, uh, I don't know if they'll let us play something like that while we're up here.

[ That goes over her head. ]

You'll play a game? With me?

[ She's sparkling. Look, she's only had one friend in her entire life and most of the games she plays are one-player. This is a big deal. ]

[KINDRED SPIRIT!! Since Yosuke knows how it is to be kinda lonely and friends are great, friends are awesome, Friendship is the True Power. He doesn't notice Kougyoku sparkling because he's excited at the prospect of FINDING ANOTHER BUDDY too. ~~and another cute girl to boot!~~]

Sure! Why not? [pause] Well, I guess we'll have to find a game first, but with two of us asking around, I'm sure we'll find something.

I'm Yosuke, by the way. [he holds out a hand to her with a wink] Nice to meet you!

I'm Kougyoku. [ Although she hesitates (STOP WINKING) she takes his hand and smiles at him. Finally, someone to play games with! That's definitely a good thing. ]

Well, we don't have to play now... but when we find a game, you definitely have to play with me, Yosuke!

[but it comes naturally! He can't help himself...] Kougyoku? That's a nice name! It really suits you! Way better than mine. Haha.

[because naming a girl after a jewel is cooler than naming your son 'sunshine' 8I;;; ]

I'll definitely let you know when I find something. In the meantime... Well, I guess I'm not that helpful around here because I've barely been around a month, but hey. If you need a hand getting around, feel free to give me a shout!

You think so? [ Wow, compliments. Not used to them. She just stands blushing and staring there like an idiot. ] Okay, I'll do that.

[ She should probably say something else. ]

[he thumps his chest, eyes closed and standing up straight] Besides, what sort of man would I be if I just let a pretty girl go around without help?

.... [he waves and laughs at himself] Nah, some of the people are kinda blunt, but they're not bad. If you want help, there are loads of people around you can ask.

[ Yes, unity in times of adversity sounds good, but Yosuke, stop! Stop, stop, stop. She blushes and turns her head away a little when he calls her pretty. At least he isn't Prince Charming material, or she'd be collapsing. ]

Loads? How many people does the Initiative have here?

[no, he's Prince Loser ~~and she should find better friends~~ so it's all good]

[he shrugs] Dunno... Didn't really keep count. But I got here with a huge group of people and it looks like there were a bunch already here and now there's more people coming in.

... I mean, we aren't a legion or anything but it's not like there's just - I don't know - eight of us fighting alone or anything. Y'know?

[ She really should find better friends. ]

I see. [ That estimate isn't very helpful. ] It happens quite often, doesn't it? Bringing Transports in. Though I would rather not fight in this war at all... [ This war. She has another back home. ]

You can fight, too, can't you? I assume everyone they brought here can.

From what I've heard, it happens about once a month. So people aren't coming in all the time. [he crosses his arms. The sentiment with regards to fighting this war was shared, though for completely different reasons]

Huh? Well... yeah. Kinda self-improvised though. But it worked for home.

So you've never had formal training. [ That's a matter of concern. Why were they bringing inexperienced warriors to the battlefield? ]

Well, I can still fight all right, but as far as formal training goes... It's not really something that we needed in my world?

... Wait, did you? Get formal training I mean.

[he's interested! Because she... she looked more like a princess than a fighter but then again, maybe she was like Yukiko? Yukiko had a pretty good slap, all things considered]

[ She chuckles and flips her hair. Time to brag about one of the only things she's good at. ]

Of course! I received much training from... people back home.

[ Certainly not from the royal trainers or anything! Whew, that was close. ]

[Yosuke looks impressed!]

Oh wow, really? I have a friend who fights with a sword... He's pretty good at it! I think. [he points at himself] I'm kinda an amateur at this sort of thing so for all I know, he's terrible... But partner looks really awesome when he's fighting, and has a pretty good stance and stuff.

[whoa, whoa, whoa Yosuke, why are you only talking about the Souji/Yu/Charlie Tunoku now? ~~quick, someone stop him before he goes on and on about his aibou~~]

[ Kenpachi Ramasama sure sounds pretty cool. ]

R-really? Hmm... Is he here? I would like to spar against him and test my skills sometime.

[ She is glad he acknowledges her, but this was supposed to be about her, not his friend! She wants to be praised too... Well, he hasn't seen her in action, but she'll fix that soon enough. ]

... Yeah. [he smiles, trying to lighten the mood, but it's a little strained at the edge] It kinda sucks, huh? Not having them around.

Oh! No, it was a stupid idea. [wave wave] It'd be a bad match up anyway. I probably wouldn't even stand a chance!

[now it's his turn to look away because pffft, an amateur like him against someone who has formal training? He could barely fight Chie, whose 'training' was basically watching kung-fu movies, Kougyoku would probably massacre him]

We could practice?

Though there's probably other people who would be a better match. [he points at himself] Kinda a total amateur.

[ She would massacre him a thousand times over until his body disintegrated on a molecular level. But it seems like she doesn't care. She's happy that someone wants to spar with her! ]

Very well, I accept. If you do not face tougher opponents, how else will you learn? [ Wow, she sounded so cool. ] I have never taught anyone else how to fight, though!

[ So she takes it as a lesson instead of practice!? She takes her golden hairpin and holds in such a way to show that she is ready. Yes, now. ]
