Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room; they show multiple variations of satellite images, focused on... somewhere snowy. It's difficult to say more than that, but those that record heat readings seem to suggest there are people there, where ever "there" is. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now. But, hey, at least all the lights are on, right? No more creepy red emergency lighting upon arrival — not that you'd know anything about that.

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Yeah! [ And she follows. He'll notice that she's walking even closer to him than before. ] Let's keep looking for King Mikotosan!

[ That's his name now. ]

[ Why is she doing that... did she want to hold hands??? Yata's pretty sure that's straight out of a movie!

He gulps.

And reaches to grab her hand and starts walking faster. ]

[ Kougyoku blushes and makes a sound when he takes her hand. Wow, Yata, so forward, so liberal. Maybe that's his thing, so she doesn't speak up about it. For now.

...But she's wearing such a long gown, he's walking too fast for her. ]

Wait! [ She squeezes his hand and stops walking.] Why are you walking so fast? Was it something I said?

[ This was his life now. Dating a girl that liked to hold hands and wanted to take her time in doing so. ]

It's nothing! I'm just... [ embarrassed ] hungry! Yeah, that's all!

... Are you ashamed to be with me?

[ Kougyoku frowns at him. Hungry? She's not that dumb. She's almost disheartened by Yata's embarrassment, but! ]

W-well, who cares what they think? Isn't that what you said?

I did say that, huh... I told you I was new at this!

[ He looks down at the floor in thought for a second before he gives Kougyoku's hand a squeeze, takes a deep breath, and yells as loud as he can to everyone/no one in particular-- ]

I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU THINK!! GO TO HELL!

[ Was this. Was this an attempt at being cool. Because he's just being embarrassing. ]

No one said anything, though...

[ But his courage was cute. The courage to say that for a friend...! It's admirable. Well, she thinks so. ]

[ He's always embarrassing. ]

Just in case! Maybe they were thinking it... Some of the people I've met here have been really weird!

Really? [ She peeks at him from behind her sleeve. ] Like who?

A guy that had a talking chicken on his shoulder! The guy was okay, but it's a talking bird, so that's still weird, right?

Oh! And there was this blond kid sitting by himself, he had hair stickin' out from his jacket like this [ motions as if his bangs were to the sides ] and he told me that his favorite hobby was kicking girls and small animals!

[ Hehehehe... stupid Eric. ]

[ The first part is strange, so she nods in agreement. But that second part... ]

That's terrible! I'll be careful. [ why is she gullible WHY IS HE SCARING HER. Her eyes shift to the left, then to the right, and— ]

You'll protect me, right?

[ She doesn't need anyone to protect her, though. Really. ]

[ How is she managing to ask just the right questions to make him blush. ]

Tch... don't ask such stupid things when you know the answer's gonna be yes.

[ Wow, he was so cool. ]

[ Wow, if only she knew. Punch all the mean people for her, Yata. ]

[ Stupid embarrassing girl. He reaches over with his free hand to flick her forehead, hmph. ]

[ She shuts her eyes tight. Ow.

Are they at the cafeteria yet? They should get moving. ]

[ Right, that was important. Back to walking, since Yata wasn't one to stay still in one place for very long anyway. ]

Did you go check out the rooms yet?

No, I haven't. We will be sharing a room with other people, right? Mmm...

[ She feels uneasy about that, because what if they hate her? Or they don't get along? Why can't she just be roommates with Yata!? ]

Which room are you staying in?

Heh, are you asking so you can visit? [ He was teasing. Please don't come to his room he isn't ready. ]

It's 107, I think. I haven't stopped by either yet.

[ Maybe after they were done with the cafeteria, which they'd just arrived to. ]

Um! [ She's never been invited to a friend's room before, she isn't ready either. ] No, but, um... I was hoping we'd have the same one, that's all.

[ But! Before he can comment on that, she asks, ]

So what does your king look like?

[ ... she wanted to share a room with him already?!

Oh no, he'd gotten involved with a forward girl... it was only a matter of time before this happened, it was like watching Kamamoto during the summer.

Yata had never been more thankful for a quick change of topic. Thank you for always coming through, Mikoto-san!! ]

M,Mikoto-san is the best! He has red hair, kinda spiky, though some of it gets in his face sometimes. That just makes him look cooler though, like uh... like the wind's doing it! He's also really tall and he likes to smoke and sleep almost all the time.

[ She squints. "Best" wasn't the adjective she was looking for!? Also, ] He doesn't sound very king-like...

[ Isn't he just a bum... ]

Hah?! What d'you mean? What else is he supposed to do?

[ Thread carefully, Kougyoku. There better not be any insults toward Mikoto in there. ]

Well, a king is supposed to be strong, intelligent, respectable... [ And after some hesitation, ] Dignified, charismatic, handsome...

[ She's describing Sinbad. ]

Mikoto-san is all those things! All of them times ten, you just asked what he looked like so I didn't think saying all of that counted.

You've got a king too, right? [ He was pretty sure that's how Empires worked. ] Is he like that?

[ She wears a sad smile. ]

Yes, we have an emperor, but he already passed away some months ago. ... It's okay. I didn't know him all that well.

You know, I'm going to be a king too! Not now, but someday.
