Summary: So how about that drinking as a method of coping with being forced to relive bad memories, huh.
Warnings: discussion of violence I imagine.

[ She hasn't been drinking constantly. But at night, heading to one of the quieter bars, the ones that the other transports don't seem to frequent - well, it's easier. Easier than sleeping, easier than not sleeping, a faster way to forgetfulness.

And that's what she wants. This entire place, this entire thing with the Initiative and the constant fuck-ups - as far as she's concerned, right now it can all just go to hell.

She sees Stark nearly as soon as he comes in the door - he's kind of hard to miss - and sighs and orders another drink for herself. Part of the point of being here was that she wouldn't have to talk to or look at anyone else who knew about that whole utter mess.

It's possible he won't notice her, and at the moment that's what she's hoping for. ]

Of course not. [ Beat. ] How many bars did you say you went to before this one?

[fe_male]

Uhh. Maybe one or two. Why?

I'm wondering which of us is more drunk, at this moment.

[fe_male]

If you're wondering that then neither one of us is drunk enough yet.

[ A considering moment. ]

Let's test that theory. How drunk is enough?

[ Mostly his response to that is to signal for another round. Maybe ask for some shots too, for good measure. ]

Room's not floating yet.

[ Oh good that sounds like a definite plan here she likes that one. ]

In your professional opinion, does it have to actively float or does the moment when everything tilts count?

[ Excellent. ]

Tilts is a good sign. Doesn't have to, but feeling like you're walking on a waterbed is, in my experience, optimal.

Mmm. [ Smirking just a little bit. ] Then we have a goal in mind. Let's see how close we can get before they kick us out.

[fe_male]

[ Cheers then. Here go the shots. ]

Not without tequila. We should make something up.

Tequila. [ A thoughtful sigh. ] It can't be too fancy. They don't even have the right music for drinking songs in this time.

[ He turns so that he's facing most of the rest of the bar, back to the counter, shot in hand. He surveys, glances around, looks at the assorted 'people'. After a little while he takes the shot and turns back like he had been. ] I got nothin'. Truth or dare?

[boughtabookstore]

[ Yup, that's about the size of this place. Boring. But that sums up most of this island, really, even with all the weird things that happen. ]

Truth or Dare it is. You suggested it, you can go first.

[fe_male]

Does that mean... I make you pick first or that I pick first?

[boughtabookstore]

[ Whichever one she meant, the second option is the one she meant now. ] You pick first. Truth or dare?

[fe_male]

Dare.

Take three shots and try to convince the person two stools over you aren't drunk.

[fe_male]

[ .... ] You're horrifically creative, you know that?

[ Three shots ordered, three shots taken, wow okay three shots on top of everything else, he can't tell if he actually feels the difference or is just going numb in the face by this point. ] Two stools to the left or right?

[boughtabookstore]

I've been told I have my moments.

[ Sipping her own drink still, but slowly because she just realized that he gets to get revenge next. ] Left. Good luck, soldier.

[fe_male]

[ He glances over to the target - it serves well enough to hide his blinking to keep the individual in proper focus, because he really wasn't lying about hitting those other bars beforehand, and those three shots are hitting him a little harder than he was expecting as a result. But he swings back to look at her for a moment before sliding off the stool with balance that's born purely of experience. ] Easy. [ Never mind that he hasn't actually bartered a way to prove that the other person thinks he's sober. Or at least, not drunk. Whoops.

He wanders over and starts the conversation, which isn't all that difficult because, hey, he's Tony Stark, even if he is just about shit-faced, and actually that might make him more Tony Stark than normal, if anything, so there's always that. The person doesn't seem too off-put, marginally generous but not entirely unamused in the first place, and it's a reasonably short conversation before he wanders back, if nothing else then feeling triumphant, and with a phone number. ] Hah. Done.

[boughtabookstore]

[ She sets her drink down and looks at him when he comes back, glances at the phone number because seriously, that's impressive right there, she'll take that as proof that he convinced her at least reasonably well since they didn't set up a specific way to determine it. ] I did say we'd have better luck getting you a girl.

So I passed then? [ He either convinced her he was sober or convinced her reasonably well that he would be just as pleasant sober as he was while drunk. Same thing, right? ] Is it my turn to tell you what to do now?
