[CLOSED] Mission log for sanity
Date & Time: December 14th (May 2010)
Location: North Shore, MN, USA
Characters: Zelos Wilder & Arya Stark
Summary: Mission for sanity, or fishing. Whatever.
Warnings: None!
[It was a beautiful late summer day on the Superior shore when they arrived. The trees and grass were green, and the waves moved in and hour peacefully with the sound of gulls. With the skies clear except for some clouds, the sun shone brightly and warmed the beach to much warmer temperatures than what the winter had been doing]
[They had come up on on the excuse of gathering supplies, but really it was more for a break of sanity. Zelos had promised to go fishing with the kid, and it was really nice to get away from everything back in Exsilium.]
[Zelos, promptly on arrival, took in the warm, snowless scenery, took in a deep breath and fell back into the soft sandy beach]
...Yeah. I don't think I wanna move for awhile.

...Fine.

[ and she wanders off. have fun, try not to scream when one wriggles on your hand. ]
no subject
[...Crap. But fine, he glances around before heading off away from the beach and towards the forest- since yeah. Knows not to dig into the sand for worms]

[What, did you really think he'd get his hands dirtier than he had to?]
[But he doesn't have much trouble picking up worms when he does find them, and shoving them into a jar. Sure, he makes faces while he does so, but it's no worse than handling people's guts and what not. ]
[Eventually, when he feels he has enough of them, he heads back to see Curry and Arya's training. He watches for a moment afar, amused]
....Heh. Good job!

[ she throws sand on three of the fires. the fourth she lets burn. as the fire strengthens, she feeds it a few more branches. alone, she would not dare. the smoke would draw anyone around for miles. but between nymeria and zelos, who would hurt her?
settling back on the sand, she wriggles her toes into it. ]
Do you have the worms?
no subject
[He kneels down when Curry approaches, petting her on top her head before standing straight and walking over to Arya with Curry following behind at his feet happily]
Yeah I got plenty of worms. Gross little things.

[ she holds her hand out for the jar to examine them. ]

I don't eat them now. I've got a bow and I can go hunting. But you try going weeks without food and you'll be eating bugs and frogs and anything else you find. [ a pause. ] Not you, but anyone who has to eat.
no subject
[So. Gross. But he'll hand over the jar now]
no subject
[ she draws one out, tempted to lay it on her tongue just to see him scream. arya watches it wriggle between her fingers, impotent, before returning it to its brothers. ]
Will you cry when you have to stick them on the hooks?
no subject
[JUST PUTTING IT OUT THERE]
And no. I'm fine impaling things.

digging a shallow hole in the sand, she leaves the jar safely inside it. she gets up. ]
I'm going to find a good spot. Stay here.
no subject
Huh? Alright.
[He'll crouch down near the fire as he wait. Was he too tactless? It's hard to say- but he's not about to take it back, so not much he can do. ]

if she can get one, she can use it to bait snare traps. she could dig up some greens too, use those. rabbit will make for good dinner. she could even try to bait some fishing lines with its meat and see if fish will bite.
plan in mind, she returns, shifting her quiver on her shoulder. ]
Come on. The worms are going to dry if they stay out here. You get the poles, I've got the rest.
no subject
[But when she comes back, he'll nod and get up. He at least seems to know what the poles are, because he'll grab those and head over to wherever Arya seems to have in mind]

with the lines in the water, she settles down to wait for the first bite. the breeze catches her tangled hair. could a net be made from hair? she tries to imagine what that would like, hauling in fish with a net made of her hair. it sounds like a story old nan would say. she thinks robb might laugh. jon would. jon would have tugged on her hair and asked her if it was strong enough.
her throat is a hollow ache. arya keeps her eyes on the water and her hands on the pole. ]
