[After a call to each volunteer's tablet the night before, the time and meeting place for Korra's impromptu exploration group is set. They meet outside the Initiative's small facility in the cold morning light with whatever supplies they want to bring with them. However, Korra's message in the tablet was clear:

"Wear something warm or you won't be coming with us. It's too risky going into the cold if you're not dressed for it." ]

Also keep in mind that these groups will be exploring the same terrain, and some crossover into another group's "possible discoveries" list is very likely!)

General Mingle/Preprations | Pre-Departure

[As the members of the exploration group start trickling out of the facility, the crowd by the front area starts to grow. Everyone will be heading off as soon as the groups are announced, so you'd better check if you have everything!]

[After she checks that everyone's wearing something suitable for the cold weather, she holds up a small pack.]

I got some flashlights if anyone needs one. There's only three, and I'm keeping one for myself.

Thanks, but I've got a light.

[He holds out several bags of vaccuum sealed... something. He has so much of it he just hands it out, okay.]

Anybody want some jerky to take along? Everybody should have something to eat just in case. It's deer.

[Just in case anybody wondered.]

[Raven held out her hand.] I could use a flashlight.

[She takes a few pieces of jerky from Blaine too. Before opening her own game back.] I brought four blankets. Three of them are for whoever wants them. I have water too.

I'll take a water. Eating the snow might have nasty surprises.

[She peered into the bag with curiosity.]

Is that all jerky? [Wow that's a lot.] How'd you get so much of it?

[Waves a bag at her, tempting her to take it.]

Went hunting and got lucky. I dried about half of my share, but if I'd known we'd be in Siberia I'd have just vacuum packed it for the fridge and then tossed it in the snow for safe keeping when I got here.

Don't need a light here, I keep my own torch handy at all times. [Have a demonstrative flame in the palm of his hand, which he then extinguishes when he's handed some... jerky? He sniffs experimentally at it, but of course it's vacuum sealed so it doesn't smell like anything. Well, it looks a little suspect, but it's better than starving if it comes down to it.]

Uh... thanks, I think?

[Sesshoumaru doesn't exactly look like he belongs with this group, but he's tired of being copped up with those inside. If he had thought the aroma of too many humans in one place was bad, he discovered it was much worse when they hadn't showered for a while.

A problem that had definitely started when a certain someone had destroyed the showers on the moon. At least here, if a steady source of heat could be found, the snow could be melted, people could clean themselves, and the demon wouldn't be assailed by a foul stench every second.

So, he stands off to the side, using his senses to observe the surrounding area for yeti while waiting. A little diversion if one popped up wouldn't hurt anything.

[Raven notices him and quirks a quizzical eyebrow. She gets the feeling she's seen him before, but that was long ago. So he's probably disappeared and come back ever since, without memories, of course.

She can't remember his name but she does remember his demon aura. A very strong one. She takes a few step closer.]

Hey. You're taking part in the expedition too?

[No. Sorry, Raven, he remembers his last time here, although, there are some he doesn't recall--especially if he had never encountered their scents.

So no offense if he doesn't recognize you when he turns.]

It is less confining than prior areas.

Group One: Transportation

Members: Korra (leader), Lily, Tony Stark, Raven, Lea

This group will be finding the frozen over Thames. Possible discoveries include the main methods of transportation (sled, sleigh, ice skates) and the science people living underneath the ice.

[Lily's wearing her training suit, only with layers over top for warmth. Just because she can regenerate and won't get sick from catching a chill doesn't mean that she's immune to the negative effects of the cold. Her clothing is a compromise between warmth and freedom of movement. She's dressed warmly enough to endure the cold, but not in so many layers that she won't be able to move easily.

She's determined to be as helpful as she can, even if her training is most useful to a combat scenario. At the very least, she knows how to properly duck for cover and sneak around, so that's useful for exploring.]

[ Tony managed to keep a hold of a suit, so he's actually decked out in Iron Man gear still. Well, as much of it as is either still working or has been repaired since all the zombies. He's warm enough - certainly isn't going to be complaining about it, anyway. ]

[Lea has his usual black coat over a hoodie and is currently fiddling with an obnoxiously yellow and black checkered scarf when he happens to notice the guy in the robosuit. Huh. That's different. He approaches him and takes a moment to look at the detailing on the arm.]

Interesting choice of outerwear you got there.

Group Two: Technology

Members: Katniss Everdeen (leader), Blaine Throps, Asbel Lhant, Sesshoumaru, Mai

This group will be finding the technologies that help the residents survive. Possible discoveries include the solar panels, the "subway-like tunnels" between workplaces underneath the snow, and one of the domed-off places for growing food.

[Mai's learned her lesson from the scouting mission earlier in the month. This time she's come dressed in as many layers as she can stand and still have access to her knives. The cloak she wears is thicker as well.

She joins up with the group as they assemble but she stays silent for the most part. She does seem to be listening however, attentive even in her silence. It's rare for her to work with a group, particularly where cooperation isn't something earned with fear.]

[Blaine isn't the quiet type, so he had been talking to everyone. The bare minimum of knowing everyone by face, name, and skill seemed the most appropriate, especially if someone was the reserved sort. He introduced himself.]

Hey, I'm Blaine. [He held out a hand.] Do you know much about surviving here?

Re: Group Two: Technology

[Asbel checks his scabbard as he waits for the rest of the group to assemble. He isn't much of a winter animal, all truth be told, but he knows they need to figure the ins and outs of this place, and what better way than to do so with companions? Besides, it'd be way too dangerous to go wandering around alone - and flying solo has never appealed to him anyway.]

[Satisfied that Excalibur won't be going anywhere, Asbel tucks his hands into his coat pockets and peers around for someone to talk to. He sure hopes they won't have to explore in total silence; that wouldn't be too exciting.]

So, what are we supposed to be looking for exactly? And should one of us be taking notes? If we find something we can't carry back with us, it might be a good idea to keep track of its location so we can get back there later.

[The demon, who actually doesn't mind silent traveling, turns at the unexpected voice echoing his own questions. However, he keeps the surprise he feels under wraps as he regards the young man before answering.]

We will know when we find it.

[Asbel nods in return. He all but reeks of humanity, but there might be a faint whiff of something else, too - something ancient and alien.]

I guess you're right, but I'd still like to go into this at least a little prepared. It's awfully cold out to have to make the same trip more than once today.

Group Three: Local Wildlife

Members: Luke Skywalker (leader), Sheryl Nome, "Cat" (Arya Stark), Riku, Nathan Summers

This group will be finding the animals and other locals found in the area. Possible discoveries include the unfriendly penguins & walruses, the mammoths, and the yetis.

[Luke's all bundled up and ready to go. He even has a pack he scavenged up and some of the dried food goods they brought down from the moonbase.]

You guys ready to go?

[Here's hoping they don't freeze to death - but hey, it's still not as bad as Hoth.]

[Sheryl figures this outing is anything like her previous missions — plenty of sights to see and items to gather while having fun as possible. Only obtaining fun won't be as easy this time, she figures, especially not when it's freezing cold.

Dressed up in a thick coat and matching boots, she raises a thickly-gloved hand up with a forced smile out of her lips. Hey, if she can distract herself from the cold air that's making her shiver even with the amount of clothes she has on, she'll take any chances. Naturally, she has the foresight to bring along a few items that are inside the small backpack she's carrying.]

Ready as I'll ever be!

[She proclaims proudly, quickly pushing her hand down to shove it against her coat's pockets. Her free hand reaches over to tuck a few pink strands into the fluffy hat she's wearing.

[ neither girl or wolf answer. arya thinks how much better she would be running off with only nymeria for company. she could certainly get farther and have an easier time of it than needing to put up with strangers who have never seen a heavy snowfall before.
