EVENT: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS

Summary: The Transports return from their mission to find the island crawling with monsters.
Warnings: Violence, possibly injuries (notify a mod if there's cause to add a particular warning!)

The Transports return from their mission to Medieval Russia, but the Initiative Hold is eerily deserted. Normally, their would be a number of Initiative personnel prepared to meet the Transports at the end of their mission for debriefing.

Instead, there is only silence.

That is, until a distant thumping sound can be heard. It is growing closer, and suddenly the beast is bursting into the room. It lets out a roar and charges. Within minutes, it is easily defeated, but damage has already been done -- it collided with the Transporter machine, which is now making a low fizzling sound and lets off a couple sparks. The commotion is enough to draw the attention of the few remaining Initiative personnel who still inhabit the Hold, who arrive immediately afterwards. They are able to tell the Transports two things: that the machine is broken and currently unable to sent anyone back in time, and that the island has been overrun with aggressive, mutated beasts sent by the United Earth. They have been under siege for months, with the island's population reduced to a mere fraction of what it had once been.

[ She's yet to run into anyone that isn't someone from her own universe, so she just naturally assumes that he is. ]

[ Seriously how many versions of him are there by this point. ] Different guy.

Most likely out making more of them. [ She doesn't even notice that you're trying. ]

Get used to it. Happens all the time.

[ Also shenanigans with timelines. Those are the actual best. Her eyes narrow at the gestures though, her scowl deepening. ]

Whenever the rest of them show up, yes.

[ Gamora generally avoids calling them her team. ]

[ oh great they're actually waiting on other people. ]

[ she has a sinking feeling he's going to try it anyway. ]

Is there a point to this?

[ Not as well as she will come the new series, probably. ]

Okay that's technically a yes or no question, yeah, but it's kind of vague. Point to all what?

I was just hoping to somehow, futilely, add to the sparkling memory that being in your company is going to become when this is all, sadly, finished.

[ well that gets him a smirk. ]

How much harder, you think? Because I need to save some energy for the bad guys.

Who said that wouldn't be impressive? If you can keep up.

[ Well it's an impressive moniker. He gives it all of a four second pause. ]

[ But she doesn't actually look like she cares, swinging her sword across her shoulders. ]

I don't know who that is, I don't care much about his feelings, he's late, he can catch up, come on.

Calls himself 'Star-Lord' when he's feeling important and no one does.

[ She'd say Adam and Quill are grown men and can take care of themselves, but she doubts that. Doesn't stop her from following Tony. ]

He's got a name like Quill and he switches it voluntarily to 'Star-Lord'? [ that makes sense. ] That's a little flamboyant.

[ a shrug ] I kill things, I don't ask questions. Ask him if you want to know why.
