EVENT: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS

Summary: The Transports return from their mission to find the island crawling with monsters.
Warnings: Violence, possibly injuries (notify a mod if there's cause to add a particular warning!)

The Transports return from their mission to Medieval Russia, but the Initiative Hold is eerily deserted. Normally, their would be a number of Initiative personnel prepared to meet the Transports at the end of their mission for debriefing.

Instead, there is only silence.

That is, until a distant thumping sound can be heard. It is growing closer, and suddenly the beast is bursting into the room. It lets out a roar and charges. Within minutes, it is easily defeated, but damage has already been done -- it collided with the Transporter machine, which is now making a low fizzling sound and lets off a couple sparks. The commotion is enough to draw the attention of the few remaining Initiative personnel who still inhabit the Hold, who arrive immediately afterwards. They are able to tell the Transports two things: that the machine is broken and currently unable to sent anyone back in time, and that the island has been overrun with aggressive, mutated beasts sent by the United Earth. They have been under siege for months, with the island's population reduced to a mere fraction of what it had once been.

[She's not sure how her shapeshifting skill is going to come in handy unless she can somehow figure out a way to -- become a distraction or something -- but it's a thought she'll keep in the back of her mind. She just nods.]

And what's your job, then? Out of curiosity.

Chainsawing things, mostly. I had chosen a gun as my weapon with the hopes of expanding my range. But nobody seems to think ever being a novice with your weapon here is a good idea.

Maybe not when you're fighting, since apparently that backfires on you.

[She shrugs.]

I know I'm going to be spending a good chunk of time at the training centre learning to use some other weapons, so you can always come along.

That'd help. [Nods. And she guesses she'll be hanging out with Mystique on top of it, too.] I've been trying to get some time in those blocks, but all these events have made it difficult.

Yeah, I think we're going to have to wait until the whole Compound falling isn't a concern.

[She rubs her neck, though, and flashes Kanaya a smile.] You can always come out and look for parts to help that along!

That sounds like a plan. [Kanaya glows a little brighter at the certainty about something to do.]

Are you wanting to head in alone? You can always come with me if you'd like.

[She did say she could use a chainsaw, after all, and that's more weapons expertise than Mystique herself has.]

[She shrugs.]

I assumed your suggestion accompanied the idea of us going out in a group.

Oh! Yeah, I mean -- it's probably safer that way.

Considering you just established your own vulnerabilities, which are less of a concern for me - and so on - yes.
