EVENT: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS

Date & Time: October 24 - October 31
Location: Throughout Exsilium
Characters: ALL; tag yourselves in
Summary: The Transports return from their mission to find the island crawling with monsters.
Warnings: Violence, possibly injuries (notify a mod if there's cause to add a particular warning!)

The Transports return from their mission to Medieval Russia, but the Initiative Hold is eerily deserted. Normally, their would be a number of Initiative personnel prepared to meet the Transports at the end of their mission for debriefing.

Instead, there is only silence.

That is, until a distant thumping sound can be heard. It is growing closer, and suddenly the beast is bursting into the room. It lets out a roar and charges. Within minutes, it is easily defeated, but damage has already been done -- it collided with the Transporter machine, which is now making a low fizzling sound and lets off a couple sparks. The commotion is enough to draw the attention of the few remaining Initiative personnel who still inhabit the Hold, who arrive immediately afterwards. They are able to tell the Transports two things: that the machine is broken and currently unable to sent anyone back in time, and that the island has been overrun with aggressive, mutated beasts sent by the United Earth. They have been under siege for months, with the island's population reduced to a mere fraction of what it had once been.

"As have I, brother." And it's obvious he has, though he has to slice another creature in twain during the conversation. Monsters can be so rude.

"I have many questions for you, but I think they may have to wait."

Monsters are the very worst, it's true. Good only for slaying.

"And I for you also, but I do not fear this skirmish will keep us long." He pauses as he flattens the skull of an oncoming beast. They have fought months at a time in the past, so even a day of this will be over seemingly in the blink of an eye.

Balder has done nothing but fight since his death, with the privilege of needing neither food nor sleep. But being alive again doesn't dissuade him or tire him, it energizes him.

Balder nods assent. "We can outlast a few beasts. It will be good exercise."

After all, he hasn't had a chance to stretch his limbs since awaking.

"What? Have you been resting your feet in place of fighting our foes in your death?" Thor's tone is light-hearted; he knows Baldur is the least likely to shirk his responsibilities when duty is on the line. He presumes, caught up in fighting as he is, that his brother is from a time similar to his.

"Or have you become already so might that even his likes pose a challenge to you no longer?"

"The foes I have been fighting had minds at least; these beasts show little strategy."

It makes fighting them easier with time as he gets used to their movements. With his Asgardian endurance, he could go on for days.

"But that is to our benefit, 'twould be no good if they outwitted you."

He can tease too, Thor.
