( open ) our ag wing's back and you're gonna be in trouble (hey now! hey now! our ag wing's back)

Date & Time: October 31st, 3313, 11:59PM - November 3rd, 3313, ????
Location: Agriculture Wing, Moon Base to start. Cafeteria, warehouse, docking bay, VR rooms, Transport Pad, or Observatory later on.
Characters: Any & all!
Summary: Space Zombies are allowed out of the Agriculture Wing, slowly revving up their systems to try and infect and absorb as many of the Transports (or 12 Initiative Members) as possible.
Warnings: Log will be locked for potentially graphic violence. Please warn in threads should the violence or gore become graphic.
Notes: Specify a date and location in your top comment. You may specify multiple dates/locations. Specify a time if you wish as well.

Everything is a success at first, from the cool rush of air out of the Agriculture Wing once the doors are fully unlocked, to the heady sense of accomplishment for finally moving forward on something good for the long-term usability of the Moon Base. It's intended to remain a resource, after all, but not be a permanent home. Fraying tempers and the sense of cabin fever descending on Transports continues to showcase how important it is to get back down on Earth to regain some breathing room.

There's little enough dust between all the unmoving, unlit structures, many even supporting the barest dried husks of what once grew there. Upon the lightest touch, they disintegrate, turning into a dust that falls to the ground. The silent rows will be reclaimed and turned into functioning units, based on Transport efforts, and Transport time invested in the project.

There's just one problem. Something stirs in the reclaimed wing, among tangles of hosing and wiring. Skitterings and movements that make no sense for a long abandoned Moon Base. The further in Transports go, relying on magic or technology to generate light past the bare minimum maintained by the base, the more disturbing sights they may run into.

Of course, the most disturbing of all might be lying just around the far corner -- but don't worry, it's only a flesh wound. Try not to get surprised in the machinery, caught suffering from not looking up or caught making out with anything unsavory this holiday season, Transports. We need all of you to stay alive!

We can't bring you back right now!

a. ice ice baby

[ a mad dash of bright red will blur past you, weave past your feet, in an effort to get ahead, to run straight through the monsters. you may not notice her at first given her pint-sized nature, but allumette has been on red alert the moment she sensed something wrong.

upon first contact with a zombie, she stopped dead in her tracks before jumping back, grabbing the two claw-like weapons hanging on her hips, and simply unhooking them to throw them on the floor. they disappear; replacing them is a metal wand, and in a whirl of light, she stands notably different. she waits a moment to cast, and pearls of ice hurl through the air at the zombies, effectively pushing them back.

it's no easy feat; she's not really much of a spellcaster, especially not offensively. this is only for a few moments, and when the zombies lurch forward towards her, she has to run back. retreat, retreat! she can't use fire here, there's too many people around, and it costs too much magical energy-- ]

b. kyrie eleison

[ injured? exhausted?

you're suddenly washed over with a cool, refreshing breeze, like stepping into a meadow. behind you stands a young woman, 3'8'', holding a cane, shield, and dressed in bright red. she touches your shoulder, tilting her head, pigtails swaying. ]

Are you alright?

[ the snarl of a zombie captures her attention, though, and she quickly casts another spell--it's almost as if you can feel small shields all over your skin. ]

I'm very sorry--but get up. We need to leave immediately. More specifically, you need to, if you do not feel up to par.

[Tsubomi turns in a whirl after Allumette as she runs by, by now used to the stature of her cobbling teacher. She pauses, to see what Allu is planning, unwilling to put herself in the middle if it's going to mess up her magic, but when the ice breaks, when Allu herself pulls back, the decision is made.]

Miss Allumette! Keep running! [She doesn't want to trap her by accident: she's not exactly a tidy fighter, especially with creatures like these.

She leads with energy bolts, but then she launches herself into the air, aiming a kick at the pack closest to Allumette. She'd stop them, and then they'd counterattack. Or escape, if they had to.
]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-03 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ she does keep running; until she's a safe distance away. thaumaturge skills didn't serve her well at all... but if she could be backup--

ugh, but she hated healing. staying still was not her forte at all. it was the exact opposite of her forte. and yet, she didn't want to leave her student behind. she could attack and heal. she sighed, throwing her wand to the floor and letting it disappear, shaking her head free of wisps of light as her cane returned to her hand, and she rose it to cast a protection spell over tsubomi.

far away as she was, she could still fight. it was just better this way. ]

[The warm feeling of the spell is very nearly a distraction, something strange and new, but after taking down the one she'd aimed her kick at, one behind her gets in a lucky hit, and she goes flying against the wall. The difference in the impacts is immediately apparent, and she smiles a little, resolving to thank her teacher after this was over, as she turns to get back to the wall, deflecting another strike with a kick.

She recovers her bearings enough to get her feet under her and attack again. One from the left--she slides under one of the blade-like arms and, with a close-up Blossom Impact, blows it clear off. She's got to conserve her energy in places like this, so she works quickly, physical blows to stun and blasts to disable.
]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-07 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she worries a bit when she's thrown against the wall, but she just twists and spins her cane to throw off both an aero spell and a stone spell in quick succession, no pause, muttered and surging through her body. they tear the air apart, hit zombies squarely on and they're suddenly moving slower, as if they're carrying great weights on their shoulders.

she's proud of her skills. and she's proud of her student's, watching as petals of rose light expand and throw limbs elsewhere. she conjures heal again, to make sure she's kept in fighting order. ]

[Xion had just been taking a bit of a breather, or rather a big one, having just managed to outrun and evade a small horde that had been too much to handle on her own. The refreshing sensation feels wonderful, and Xion looks up to see... one of the people who she shares a room with. When she's actually in it.

She's about to open her mouth to thank her roommate when the snarl makes her head turn, eyes widening. Had they been found by that group she'd been running from? She scrambles to her feet.]

No. I'll be fine.

[Thanks to whatever it was Allu had done, Xion actually felt a lot better]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-03 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Be sure of this!

[ because allumette is walking backwards, but she has her cane raised. ]

I shall heal you, if you will fight.

[personal profile] attheclocktower 2013-11-03 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[Xion hesitates for a brief moment, then nods firmly.]

I'm sure.

[Another moment's hesitation, and she calls on her Keyblade, it appearing in a flash of light. In her free hand, she does her best to gather what magic she can. There's only so much she can do before actually picking which element she wants to use, and she doesn't want to do that until she can see what all they're up against.]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-07 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ she wished she knew stoneskin, but that's too high of a level. she'd need a lot more practice than what she has now. she can only ready her cane for now, ready to both back her up with magic and heal her as well. she knows she's able to multitask. ]

[Well. This isn't what he'd ordered, and it's certainly not exactly the Exsilium he remembers. The Exsilium he remembers was a lot more... uhm... terrestrial. And had fewer undead. Really, though, he can't say he's sorry to be back. Despite knowing how much work there is to do before they try and take on Xehanort again, Axel always preferred the path of least resistance, and thus Lea is adapted to this credo. Between Xehanort and undead monsters on the moon? He'll take undead monsters on the moon.

[Unfortunately, right now there are a lot of said undead monsters, which makes it not the path of least resistance when he could just... run away. Maybe he'll do that. As he turns to make a break down the hallway, however, he nearly trips over a diminutive figure.]

Ah--! [Catching himself on the wall, he glances down, then glances up.] Great. [Zombies that way too. He glances down at the little figure he nearly stepped on--wow, very little. Does she even clear four feet?] S-sorry--didn't see you there. [The zombies are getting closer. From both sides. Ugh, this is so not fun.

[Glancing down at his unexpected tiny company, Lea pushes away from the wall and straightens. There are other people nearby, so he can't get too flashy, but if he's going to get past these shambling creatures he's going to have to burn a path through them, it seems. He reaches down and taps the top of the small girl's head once, just enough to get her attention.]

Y'ain't scared of fire, are you? [Not that it really made a difference; it was burn them all or become brains alamode, but he figured he might as well give her a warning.]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-04 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[ though she didn't appreciate that tap on her head, she didn't smack him away. she knew better that getting mad at a potential ally, and he wasn't offering to eat her head off, so she figured he was more of an ally than... well, everything else around her.

she had to admit, though--the words he decided to use made the corner of her mouth quirk.

of course not, i'm an immortal flame of ul'dah. would be an apt choice of conversation.

if she were as theatrical as thancred. ]

Not at all.

Water is another subject altogether, though, to be up front.

[ as she speaks, she's quick to throw her wand away with ease, whipping her arm back and calling her cane to her hands, a whirl of magic changing her gear again. taking another step back, she waited until she could feel magic thrumming through her veins to cast protect. ]

Oh, not on the swim team, eh? [Good thing he's not Demyx, then.

[He pauses a moment while she... well, that's interesting, she can summon her weapons, too? Admittedly, he hasn't really been in a combat situation with most of the people he knows here outside of folks from home, but he has yet to see anyone not from home who could do that. Her magic doesn't feel quite the same as the sort he's used to, but it's similar enough that he finds himself wondering if her world isn't one of the ones he could have visited if he'd just kept up his travels. Curiouser and curiouser.

[The magic seems to be something of the support variety, though he can't quite put his finger on it. That's always nice; he rather sucks at barriers and reflect and such, so having someone around who doesn't? Yeah, he'll take that.]

I'll keep that in mind if we happen to encounter any sea monsters. In the meantime...

[He calls up his chakrams and quickly drops to the floor, slamming the weapons against the ground. A circle of flame erupts around the two of them, floor to ceiling, then spreads just far enough to catch about 75% of the encroaching hoard of creatures ablaze. It's obviously very controlled, and the flames are extinguished almost as quickly as they sprang up. He can't really risk going too wild, not knowing there could be other Transports just around the corners. He really hates fighting in tight spaces like this.]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-05 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ his jab made her glare towards him, shifting her shoulders close together, uncomfortable. ]

Just cast, I pray you.

[ but when he does, she can't help but nearly jump in surprise; the move is not unlike her usual arm of the destroyer, except with flames instead of earth. she wishes she could use her other abilities in this form, but she hasn't gotten the chance to lock some abilities to her conjurer status.

but... his control is there. she relaxes all but her hands, keeping a white-knuckled grip on her cane. she's ready to call stone at a moment's notice, but steps closer to him at seeing the zombies shriek and flail. ]
promises_to_keep: (thanks but no thanks)

[personal profile] promises_to_keep 2013-11-05 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey, it's not a jab! That's just how he is, Allu, you'll get used to it. Her somewhat archaic turn of phrase catches his interest--reminds him a bit of Larsa, actually. He hasn't seen Larsa yet. He hopes he's safe, wherever he is.

[The creatures fall back, flailing and smoking, and the smell is almost enough to make him gag. Burning flesh is one thing... burning zombie flesh is a whole other level of Not Right. With a grunt, he presses the back of one hand against his nose.]

Eugh, here's hoping Undead Burgers won't be on the block party barbecue menu. [He pauses just long enough to kind of take inventory--the flailing caught most of the rest of them on fire, leaving them mostly clear to make a break for it. Still crouched where he had dropped for the attack, he takes a moment to look his company over briefly. She's not quite like anybody he's ever seen before; compact and sturdy, childlike in stature but very obviously not a child from how she carries herself. He ventures a shallow smile and gets back to his feet, staying sort of bent over long enough to offer his hand to shake hers.]

Name's Lea. Usually I prefer to make new friends with slightly less monsters and awfulness going on, but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-05 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ her sense of smell has always been potent; she nearly lurches before remembering herself, swallowing her bile and just delicately pressing her hand against her nose. ]

I've no idea what to do with those bones. I'm sure I could never fend off that stench.

[ she shakes her head, looking towards lea quizzically. he isn't like most. he seems wild, despite not being so. he's controlled, with a fiery spirit, that much is certain. ]

Private Allumette Honeycutt, of the Immortal Flames.

[ and the scions. but her sultana came first. ]

Allumette is fine. It's a pleasure to meet you, despite it be in battle.
promises_to_keep: (kill the gladiator)

[personal profile] promises_to_keep 2013-11-06 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
[What to do with the bones? Were they supposed to do something with them? Light, he hopes not.] I vote leave 'em where they fall. I'm not on the janitorial team, and they couldn't pay me enough to work cleanup after this debacle.

[His eyebrows inch upward at her title--private? Isn't that like... military something? Wow, no wonder she has such a powerful presence despite her small stature. He's half-tempted to make a joke on his old Organization epithet, since they're apparently on the subject of Flames of Varying Adjectives, but he'll refrain. For now.]

Likewise. Allumette, huh? Never seen anybody quite like you, and I've done a lot of traveling. I'd love to hear about your hometown sometime. [You can take the guy out of the Organization, but you can never quite take the Organization out of the guy. He'll always love recon, even if it's just for fun anymore.] I would recommend getting out of the line of, ah... fire. As it were. Before we have any discussions over tea. Were you headed anywhere in particular?

[He doesn't mind lending a hand to get her where she's going, since fire seems like the best way to get rid of these nasties.]

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-06 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[ a simple nod, but--excuse her, she grabs a bone or two, hauls them over her shoulder, and starts to walk. ]

We struggle with resources as it is. It is important to use all we can. [ a smirk; she glances back. ] Though I hardly mean we should cut steaks out of them and serve them with popotoes. A bone wand would be strong enough for me to wield, and I've the resources to make them.

Anyroad, I was on my way to the place of observing, when I was accosted by these fiends. I've missed my mark--it's that way, if I remember the layout correctly.

[ she nods to the left, with a grimace. ]

My chocobo is settled there.

[ a pause. ]

Am I really so strange?
promises_to_keep: (thanks but no thanks)

[personal profile] promises_to_keep 2013-11-08 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Lea just shrugs.] Hey, whatever blows your hair back. [He's not the type to stop someone from doing something unless they're definitely going to be killed doing it, and even then it depends on how much he likes them. Allumette is interesting enough that he would have made an effort to stop her from diving headfirst into her death, certainly, but there's no harm in grabbing a couple, uh... zombie bones, he figures. Sure. He's not gonna help her carry them, though.

[He laughs somewhat helplessly.]
Well, I guess I should clarify that even if you were headed somewhere in particular I'm not sure how much help I'd be. I only just got here and I'm still figuring my way around this place. [And then a tilt of his head as they continue walking.] Your whatnow? [He's not sure what a chocobo is, but he'll be making a crack about Cloud Strife's hair when he finally sees one.]

[And then a shake of his head.]

Never said strange, just unlike anybody I know. I think that's interesting. [He waves a hand.] Didn't mean any offense. I used to work in recon and never quite got out of the habit of wanting to know more about stuff I dunno about, is all.

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-08 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
I see. Arriving here was the same for myself. [ she smiles a little. ] My chocobo. I, er... he is my transportation. A large bird that you ride. Perhaps you do not know of them. Many do not seem to.

[ her hand on her hip; ]

I hadn't meant that. It seems near everyone here has found me... interesting. It's strange when I am regarded as simply a normal Lalafell.

[ that hand waves in the air as she starts forwards. ]

It is no matter. I will answer any questions you have of me. It is nice, to reminisce, while I am torn away from home.

I don't understand how this place is smaller than the city was but I have an infinitely harder time navigating it. [He's always done better with open spaces. Corridors and hallways? No thanks. Castle Oblivion would have been a nightmare if he hadn't been able to use portals to get around.

[He shakes his head then.]
Nope, never heard of a chocobo, but I've seen big birds before. Never thought to ride one, but... [He smiles a bit then.] Just means maybe the worlds we know are a little smaller than the one you come from. [And he means that in a manner of diversity. Despite having traveled to many different worlds, the denizens of nearly all of them had been normal human beings.

[Lea falls into step half a pace behind her, keeping his strides slow to account for her significantly shorter legs.]

They got humantypes where you come from? Or is everyone a... Lalafell? Did I say that right?

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-13 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
By the Twelve, no. I've heard the term 'human'--the name in my Hydaelyn is 'Hyur'. There are three other races besides Hyurs and Lalafell; the Miqo'te race who are Hyur--pardon, 'human'-like with long, furred tails and the ears of a feline, the Elezen race who are 'human'-like, if not for their sheer height. I've a good friend who is an Elezen. I'm very certain she'd be taller than yourself. Lastly are the Roegadyn, who are massively bulky-types.

Were I not otherwise educated, I'd think they were born with those muscles.

[ a beat. ]

I do not expect these races to make much sense to you, but I merely mean to say that there are quite a few races besides humans in my world.

[ she tries to slow down her gait; she's quick as a pugilist should be, and this human may be magically-inclined, but she's not sure what else he can do. it's best to play it safe. besides, her fleet-footed nature is, for the time being, altered. she'd have to shift back into her monk class before her skills would reset.

troublesome, she supposed, if they were found by a horde... ]

Is everyone a human where you come from? It seems that most come from worlds that are.
promises_to_keep: (hrrmmmmmm)

[personal profile] promises_to_keep 2013-11-16 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
The Twelve? [Twelve what? But he listens with interest as she details the other races from her world. Feline ears and tail? On a human? That's different. He chuckles.]

Taller than me? That's kind of impressive. There was one guy I worked with back home who kinda sounds like your.. Ro... Roegadyn? [He thinks he said that right.] He's taller than I am, and about three times as broad. I think it's kinda interesting to hear about other races, though. Haven't met too many myself.

[He ponders a moment on her question, then scrunches one side of his face.]

Mm, mostly? [He scratches his head.] It's a little hard to explain, but where I come from, some people can travel to other worlds. I happen to be one of those people. So... everybody where I grew up was human, for the most part, but... Oh. [There was that one guy.] Except the ice cream vendor. He's a... duck. [Like Donald, for that matter; they must have come from the same place, along with Goofy and the King, and probably that lunkhead Pete too.] So there's a race of folks who look like animals, but walk upright and talk like people do. Not sure if the race has a name though.

Oh, there's moogles, too. I'm honestly not sure which world they came from, but they're kinda everywhere.

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-17 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ at first, she just blankly stares at him, confused. the twelve? what about-- ] Ah, of course! The Twelve--the twelve gods and goddesses of Eorzea.

You've got it right. [ a grin. ] Reasonably so, anyroad. I've noticed there are an overabundance of Hyur here. Not sure how you all can live with that. Variety is the spice you salt your popotoes with, isn't it? [ turns of phrases get murdered across universes. ]

Duck? [ she turns her gaze upwards, and stiffens when she hears the growl of a zombie before they slink off. oh, good. doesn't seem like they got spotted--and she can hear yells of fighting. ] I've not heard of 'duck', that must be a fiend from your world only. Perhaps you should give him a query when you meet him.

--moogles? [ she turns her head towards him. ] Moogles, the little white creatures with red bauble-antenna? They deliver our letters in my world!

Ah. [He's not a religious sort, but he's familiar with the idea.

[Her turn of phrase is rather interesting, though. He recognizes the idiom in concept, but...]
Popotoes? Are those like... potatoes? [Because that's the important question.

[Lea tenses a bit at the growling sound, but it seems they're still in the clear for now. Good; the fewer undead he has to fight the better. This is too much like work. He chortles a bit at the idea of Donald being a 'fiend', though.]

Not sure I'd call him a fiend, but he definitely has some anger management issues to work out.

[He nods then.] Oh, you got moogles, too? Heh, maybe it's a small universe after all.

[personal profile] aheroipray 2013-11-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ she shoots him a strange look. ]

Po... tatoes? I've never heard of such a thing. [ she gestures with her fingers, then, tracing the air ] They're oblong vegetables, fluffy when mashed and white with a brown skin.

[ she hums; ] How strange. I've heard of chocobos appearing in another world, as well. Perhaps our worlds are not so different, as you say.
