Characters: Jim Raynor and anyone who notices him
Summary: Jim has just arrived and needs a place to remove his marine armor and a drink. The second probably more than the first.
Warnings: Someone needs a drink.

By the time Jim was briefed on what was going on he was irritated. Pulled right before storming Mengsk's damn ship for this was frustrating. Sure it was for a good cause but the timing sucked. After all of that he needed a drink, damn shame it didn't look like there was a bar around.

There was an apartment building he had a room saved for him, and probably going right there and taking off the damn tactical marine armor would have been a good move, but this was Egon's territory and he wasn't there to be harmless and overwhelmed and use small words Jim could understand.

"Damn, Earth of all places and I can't find a decent place to get drunk."

"Really missin out then. What sort of sicko would make someone so they couldn't get drunk? Takin the small pleasures outta life."

With that he shrugs and shakes his head.

"Someone who needed a soldier who could fight at full capacity for several weeks at a time."

"War ain't a time for drinking. I've seen war. Lived it for a while. That's not the time you drink. You drink to celebrate being alive after war is done."

"This process also keeps me from becoming poisoned by anything short of a tailored poison specifically designed to defeat my oolitic kidneys and gene-coded to me."

"I dunno. Part of soldiering is being able to take off the armor and enjoy the good you did out there fighting the good fight. Just sounds kind of sad not being able to do that. Like what they do to ghosts but worse."

"The good fight never ends. There is always another war, but respite can be had, from time to time. The question is what we do with it."

"Wow you got a bleak outlook on the universe."

[priad]

"I prefer the term realistic."

[goinbust]

"Never seen things that bad, and I've been huntin a menace that's responsible for over 8 billion deaths."

"Be grateful for that. In my time, humanity has been at war for 10,000 years."

"Most of humanity's history's been war. Even if they're not in one someone's ramping up for another one."
