"I thought you might want some company, and I thought I had a flashlight in my bag but it turns out I don't so I just brought me." He feels his way around. "Say somethin' so I can find you."
no subject
"Wish you'd brought the flashlight," Haruto comments; he'd thought about buying one, recently, but he'd eschewed it in favor of another pillow (so he had something to throw at Nitoh, if necessary). "I'm in the kitchen doorway," he says, moving towards it slowly. He has a fairly good sense of how the apartment is laid out, after this long. Enough that he's no tripping all over everything, anyway.
no subject
"Oh there you are," he says, poking Haruto in the cheek with his other hand, pressing his lips together like a fish with his palms. He chuckles, "Found ya."

There's a sudden audible shout of DRIVER ON! from the belt. "I'm gonna transform and check something... Watch out for the glare." He does his slow transsssssform! and the suit flashes golden in the darkness for a moment, probably blinding anyone present and lighting up under the door.
When the light fades, he grins under the mask. "Thought so! I can see in this thing!" he gestures to his mask, not thinking about the fact that Haruto can't see him. "I guess cos lions can see in the dark? Whatever!" He positions himself in front of Haruto, kind of amused by the obvious blindness on his face. "I can be your guide dog or whatever!"
no subject
"Are you--" of course he was. He winces against the light, lifting the back of one of his hands to his forehead so he doesn't completely ruin any gain of night vision, and when the sound and light show ends, he's still like that.
"Aren't you a cat?" he asks, "like, a lion?" Accuracy was important! There's a smile playing at his face, though. "You could just finish pouring my coffee. I might just hang out on the couch for a while, see if the power comes back on." Thankfully, of course, the weather here is just warm enough that hanging around in his coat will cover things.
no subject
"Man, that's so boring, though. Why don't we like tell ghost stories or something? Also what's going to happen when you get hungry, huh? I guess I gotta cook when that happens."
no subject
"Sorry my plans for the day are too boring for you," Haruto answers, then, "we're going out when we're hungry. You'd burn down the kitchen, if you could get the stove to light at all." Besides, mayonnaise was sure to feature.
no subject
Anyway, he makes a face. "Hey, I'm a great cook. I bet I could get my portable grill in here and make some super good food. Plus, we should eat some of the food so it doesn't go bad, right?"
no subject
"What, and fill the apartment with grill smell? Just leave the fridge closed, I don't think eating all of it when we don't know how long this is going to last is the best idea." With any lucky, it would be over soon. Not that luck is ever good around here, so he predicts a few hours of silence.
no subject
He takes Haruto's wrist and puts it on the coffee mug so that he won't drop it. "If we need to, we can just buy more anyhow. You got any ice cream, at least?" He sits down on the opposite side of the couch from Haruto. "I guess I can't really cook with the suit on, though maybe the grill would give a little light. Ehhh, might as well go out."
no subject
It could certainly be worse, he decides. "Ice cream? No, I don't eat that stuff," he answers. "And if there is any in there, it's Adam's." He likes his roommate, certainly, but taking his food seemed a bit much. He snorts at the mental image of Nitoh cooking in his Beast suit, and then banishes it with the agreement to his 'going out' plan. "I don't think an open flame is what we need here," he says, tapping open his tablet and flicking it on. The dim light from the screen is at least enough to give him a better sense of where Nitoh is. "Besides, are you saying you don't want to go to dinner with me? My treat, and everything." He's had months to build up a little stockpile of cash, at this point. It helped that he didn't have many expenditures outside of food and an occasional life necessity, like replacement umbrellas.
no subject
He nods silently. "I'm pretty good at cooking, especially grill stuff."
no subject
He considers Nitoh cooking in the apartment. "You're not grilling inside. You can teach me about being a hobo instead." He takes a long sip of coffee.
no subject
"I can grill on the stove, though. I mean, it's not as good, but beggars can't be choosers. The smoke would stain the walls, though. Might make em look nicer than just the boring old white."
He throws his arm around Haruto's shoulders, "I know everything there is to know about livin' rough, Haruto. First, figure out where you can get food from for cheap. Then, learn to cook it outside." He jerks his head thoughtfully. "After that, all there is is keeping yourself full up on necessities. Like mayo."
no subject
He grunts when there's an arm over his shoulders, holding desperately onto his mug. "And what, exactly, does 'for cheap' mean--mayonnaise is not a necessity, Nitoh!"
no subject
"Cheap as you can get it if you can't get it for free! That's the way I roll." He beams, even though he's pretty sure Haruto's aware exactly who provided his 'free' food.
no subject
Haruto has his suspicions. "I see you've learned to charm Koyomi," he guesses, which is either a feat of some sort, or she's softened further than she had in the time he's lost.
no subject
Nitoh laughs through the suit. "It's easier to get from Shunpei, not that Koyomi doesn't like me. She just gets annoyed if I bug her too much."
no subject
"Shunpei's a pushover," Haruto agrees, "now Rinko, she's the real challenge." For all that his assistance could be chilly and distant sometimes, Rinko was the one he didn't want to mess with too much. Koyomi gave in if you teased her enough.
no subject
"Yeah, Rinko's tough. If she thinks you deserve what you're gettin', she doesn't budge an inch to help. She's hardcore, though. Sometimes I feel like if I don't get to the phantom first, she's gonna go after it for me." Or the gate, in this most recent fiasco. He was a little warmed by her intense anger on his behalf, misguided as he thought it was, though.
no subject
"She's always been like that," Haruto answers, "protecting people even without powers, I mean. It's..." He trails off for a moment, considering his word choice. "It's nice to see her bounce back so well. Not everyone does." Sometimes the cracks left by a Phantom simply never healed.
