( open ) our ag wing's back and you're gonna be in trouble (hey now! hey now! our ag wing's back)

Date & Time: October 31st, 3313, 11:59PM - November 3rd, 3313, ????
Location: Agriculture Wing, Moon Base to start. Cafeteria, warehouse, docking bay, VR rooms, Transport Pad, or Observatory later on.
Characters: Any & all!
Summary: Space Zombies are allowed out of the Agriculture Wing, slowly revving up their systems to try and infect and absorb as many of the Transports (or 12 Initiative Members) as possible.
Warnings: Log will be locked for potentially graphic violence. Please warn in threads should the violence or gore become graphic.
Notes: Specify a date and location in your top comment. You may specify multiple dates/locations. Specify a time if you wish as well.

Everything is a success at first, from the cool rush of air out of the Agriculture Wing once the doors are fully unlocked, to the heady sense of accomplishment for finally moving forward on something good for the long-term usability of the Moon Base. It's intended to remain a resource, after all, but not be a permanent home. Fraying tempers and the sense of cabin fever descending on Transports continues to showcase how important it is to get back down on Earth to regain some breathing room.

There's little enough dust between all the unmoving, unlit structures, many even supporting the barest dried husks of what once grew there. Upon the lightest touch, they disintegrate, turning into a dust that falls to the ground. The silent rows will be reclaimed and turned into functioning units, based on Transport efforts, and Transport time invested in the project.

There's just one problem. Something stirs in the reclaimed wing, among tangles of hosing and wiring. Skitterings and movements that make no sense for a long abandoned Moon Base. The further in Transports go, relying on magic or technology to generate light past the bare minimum maintained by the base, the more disturbing sights they may run into.

Of course, the most disturbing of all might be lying just around the far corner -- but don't worry, it's only a flesh wound. Try not to get surprised in the machinery, caught suffering from not looking up or caught making out with anything unsavory this holiday season, Transports. We need all of you to stay alive!

We can't bring you back right now!

[Desperate times call for desperate measures. Lightning keeps her blade close at hand even as she crouches down nearby, taking Ellie's foot with a firm but gentle hand to remove the shoe. A sprained ankle hurts like nobody's business, but even without magic she knows how to handle them well enough. With it, it should be a quick and easy fix.]

You got a name?

Ellie.

[Said between grit teeth.]

You?
pauldron: (confuzzled)

[personal profile] pauldron 2013-11-01 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lightning.

[She'd say nice to meet you, but given the circumstances it remains unsaid and she pours her focus into her magic instead. Blue and white light clings to the fingers of her other hand for a second before it flows into Ellie's ankle, and after another moment she lets go. It certainly looks less swollen to her, but this is her first time using l'Cie magic on someone who's likely not a l'Cie. It probably worked and the ankle's likely capable of bearing weight again, but she's not sure. Not entirely. It would be easier to tell if there was an open wound to gauge.]

There. Any better?
vaccination: (wipe.)

[personal profile] vaccination 2013-11-01 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously? That's your real name? [There's a scoff after that--Ellie doesn't really care either way. She had lunch with a guy named Blue a few days ago.

Magic always catches her attention, and she watches with fascination as the light is absorbed. She hesitantly shifts her weight to that ankle, cringing only a little.]

I can walk. Walk better than before, anyway. Thanks.

[It'll be enough to get to the clinic or to her room.]

[Lightning just rolls her eyes. Real? Yes. Legal? Hardly. Not that any of that matters in a place like this, so she doesn't comment on it and instead nods, pushing herself back to her feet. Better than it was, and if Ellie can walk she can get herself out of here. Good enough, for now. But not if she strains it further, so it's with a firm tone that Lightning does speak up.]

You should get to a safe zone before any of those things find you. Looks to me like your fighting days are over for a while.

[Though who knows. With the way things still look, there may be more of those things for her to fight once she can run normally again.]
vaccination: (dinner.)

[personal profile] vaccination 2013-11-01 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm like, ten feet away. [Sorta, kinda. She would have made it there eventually, but with a lot of swearing and sweating. The tone isn't appreciated much because she knows Joel is going to use the same damn one whenever she sees him.]

Think those things will get through?
pauldron: (something's not right)

[personal profile] pauldron 2013-11-01 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
[That first comment earns her a raised eyebrow. Ten feet away. Right.

As for the question, she shrugs. Taps her hip with the hand not holding her sword, and looks back the way she came. Back towards the majority of the fighting.]

Hard to say. The others are keeping them busy for now, but...[she tilts her head, looking back towards Ellie.] We're not the only determined ones up here. The less chances you take, the better.
vaccination: (sick.)

I know how this goes. This isn't gonna be over until one side is all dead. [She moves her hand off the wall to push back her hair.]

Kinda hoping that's not gonna be us. Especially since there's no coming back right now.
pauldron: (hands on hips)

[personal profile] pauldron 2013-11-01 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Knows how it goes, huh? Smart kid. Experienced, and she looks so young. Lightning can only sigh.]

Sounds normal to me. Getting a "second chance" after you die just makes people cocky. Makes them reckless. We don't need people being reckless now. [Or at all. Reckless people in a war...Eden. It's disaster.] Not getting a second chance means we've got a lot more reasons to be careful. Should keep anyone from just charging in headfirst.
vaccination: (partners.)

[personal profile] vaccination 2013-11-01 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
With all the goddamn organizations around here you'd think we would have had a plan for something like this.

[What the hell else was up here with them?]

I can manage from here. You look like you can handle those fuckers.
pauldron: (exploring)

[personal profile] pauldron 2013-11-02 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I don't think they've got a plan for anything anymore.

[Sometimes it seemed that way, at least. But she nods; she can handle a few shambling corpses.]

I can handle myself, yeah. [And she'd better get back to it. If Ellie says she can manage, Lightning will take her at her word and step down the corridor, back the way she came.] Good luck, Ellie.

[With what, exactly, she doesn't specify.]
vaccination: (cage.)

[personal profile] vaccination 2013-11-02 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ellie quietly agrees with that. Everything is going to hell.]

Yeah, thanks. And you too--Lightning.

[What a name.]
pauldron: (leading)

[personal profile] pauldron 2013-11-03 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[If she thought that name was bad, she should have heard the ones of those Lightning had faced down in combat.

But that's for another time. Maybe. As things stand now, it's with another nod that Lightning fully turns and heads off down the corridor, back to the fighting. No sense staying in one place after all. That just makes you a target.]
